Four years after we set out to abolish the problematic procedure by which property ownership was determined in East Jerusalem, the Mukhtar Protocol has been revoked.

The Mukhtar Protocol was one of the most corrupt, discriminatory procedures enforced by the State of Israel. In a nutshell, this longstanding procedural practice, which was used to establish ownership and as the basis for construction permits and other legal processes, replaced the requirement for documented proof of ownership with the say-so of local village “experts.” In East Jerusalem, the testimony of al local village chief (mukhtar) sufficed, as opposed to the burden of proof – actual Tabu records, deeds, or other documentation with legal standing and verifiability – required everywhere else. This strange, antiquated procedure was an open invitation to widespread fraud, resulting in the violation of proprietary rights of both Jewish and Arab owners.

The Wall Street Journal reports that top military officials from Israel, Egypt, Jordan Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as representatives from the U.S., Bahrain and UAE, discussed the shared Iranian threat

Israel took part in a secret, U.S.-initiated meeting of top military officials from throughout the Middle East in Egypt in March in order to discuss combatting the shared threat of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

The talks, held at Sharm El Sheikh, included senior military officers from Israel, Egypt, Jordan and two countries with whom Israel does not have relations: Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Everything they are forcing on society today – without our consent, like rapists – has been done before. If they were honest, they would identify as primitive, regressive extremists – even terrorists, for so many people live in abject terror of raising a peep of objection, and for good reason.

Homosexual marriage dates back to the times of Noach, when that little social experiment first brought God’s wrath upon the world. As Horovitz points out, the right wing block is polling 59 to 60 seats now which means this time is different.  The public has got a taste of a centre left coalition and they don’t like it. The Mediterranean Levant Basin is offshore to Israel, Lebanon, Syria, and Cyprus. It could hold 120 trillion cubic feet of gas. This is enough to supply energy for the region and Europe.  Israel has two huge gas fields, Leviathan and Tamar, as well as other smaller gas fields, which are part of Israel’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in that basin.

The Karish natural field is one of these. Gas was discovered there in 2016, Karish is owned by Energean Israel.  In 2017 the Israeli Minister of Energy approved development.

Chronic underfunding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency that services 5.6 million Palestinian refugees will lead to its collapse, warned UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini.

“We need US $817 million. The full US $817 million,” Lazzarini said as he asked the donor conference at UN headquarters in New York on Thursday afternoon to help his organization fund its $1.6 billion budget for 2022.

“Abortion presents a profound moral question,” reads the Supreme Court’s momentous decision overruling the precedents that prevented states from passing restrictive abortion laws. “The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority.”

That is inarguable. It was, in fact, one of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s primary sources of frustration with the precedents established by the Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade. By invalidating anti-abortion laws in dozens of states, the decision arrested the process of establishing a durable legal equilibrium that experimentation among the states produces. This is also one of the reasons that Roe proved so durable over the last 50 years despite its indefensibly dubious legal rationale.

Belman.  If Bibi, playing the Jewish Card, gets elected, then obviously his campaign was well received by people who want a Jewish state.  He will try to speak to Jews as opposed to Israelis.  I think that the divide is nationalists v universalists. or between those who want Israel to be a Jewish state as opposed to a state of all its  citizens.

I thought that “pay homage to their Jewish identity” is intrinsic to Zionism.

In a democratic state all citizens vote and have equal rights but not collective rights. Which means that only Jews have collective right to be a Jewish state. The Jewish character of the State is fixed.

There will be much talk about ‘Jewish character’ in the upcoming campaign – most of it from a Likud party that is led by an atheist and whose candidates seldom live by the Torah’s commandments

In the short statement Benjamin Netanyahu released on Monday after the news broke that the coalition government had fallen, he blamed it for “relying on terror supporters” and “endangering Israel’s Jewish character.” He signed off, “With God’s help, we will do and succeed.”

What is “Israel’s Jewish character”? It is one of the emptiest terms in Israeli politics, used originally by ultra-Orthodox politicians to try to convince ignorant secular Israelis of their arguments. It is entirely devoid of meaning, but that doesn’t matter. It is aimed at generating a feeling of longing for something that doesn’t exist, and hatred for anyone who can’t claim any connection to that nebulous Jewish character.

Hamas is waiting for an opportunity to create chaos in Judea and Samaria.

June 2022 is the 15th anniversary of the bloody coup in which Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip overthrew the Palestinian Authority in just three days. Since 2007, Hamas in Gaza, with Iranian support, has targeted Israeli civilian homes with tens of thousands of missiles over five wars and committed innumerable other violent attacks.

This month, PA security forces arrested 19 Hamas operatives in Judea and Samaria, or the West Bank, who were tunneling under a PA security facility near Ramallah. This activity is reminiscent of the methods Hamas used to seize Gaza.
