Israel deploys various legal measures in order to criminalize the activity of Palestinian human rights and civil society organizations, stop their operations, seize their assets, and levy penalties against their directors, staff, and supporters. One such measure is the 2016 Counter-Terrorism Law1 – also referred to as the Anti-Terror Law – which, inter alia, authorizes Israel’s Minister of Defense to designate organizations as “terrorist organizations”, even if they are engaged in lawful activities using legal means. In addition to the Counter-Terrorism Law, the 1945 Defense (Emergency) Regulations – introduced by the authorities of the British Mandate for Palestine –
empowers a military commander to declare an organization as an “unlawful association”.

Discrimination against Jewish prayer on Judaism’s holiest site is obscene.

The Jerusalem District Court has just allowed criminal charges against Jews who say the Shema prayer in a public place on the Temple Mount, the Jewish people’s holiest site. In her ruling, Judge Einat Avman-Muller wrote that freedom of prayer “is not absolute, and it should be superseded by other interests, among them the safeguarding of public order.” In other words, the reason for this obscene ruling is antisemitic opposition to such prayers by Muslim radicals.

It is clear that opposition to Jewish prayer on the Mount, whether from Jordan or the Palestinian Authority, is the epitome of virulent antisemitism. Why would anyone oppose peaceful Jewish prayer if they are not virulent antisemites? And why should Israel capitulate to antisemitism rather than provide security for Jewish worshippers?

Foreign minister stresses that process will be ‘long and careful,’ with both Jerusalem and Riyadh having security interests at stake

Israel is coordinating with the United States and Gulf nations on a process to normalize its ties with Saudi Arabia, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said Monday.

“We believe that it is possible to have a normalization process with Saudi Arabia. It’s in our interest,” Lapid told Army Radio.

“We’ve already said that this is the next step after the Abraham Accords, to talk about a long and careful process,” he added, referring to the 2020 US-backed normalization deals Israel reached with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.

Several years ago, after I spoke at an AIPAC conference about Israel, Zionism, and the slow rise (at the time) of anti-Zionism in the West, a couple of concerned parents approached me. “Look,” they said, “we’re here, inside the conference, we get what you’re talking about. But our kids, who are the ones who should be hearing it, are outside, protesting with IfNotNow.” It was the first time I’d heard of the group, which calls itself “a movement of Jews to end Israel’s occupation and transform the American Jewish community,” but I saw nothing special in its apparent appeal to young people. I assumed it was just the way of the world for kids to rebel against their parents, reflecting changing values and circumstances. I understood that these kids grew up in a world in which the notion of a threat to Jewish life appeared distant, even ridiculous.

A military strike that utilized quadcopter drones launched from inside Iran hit the top-secret Iranian military base at Parchin. It’s believed the strike targeted Iran’s drone research and development complex and not its missile or nuclear research facilities.No nation has claimed responsibility for the attack, but both Iran and the U.S. say that it fits the pattern of past attacks by Israel.

The attack follows an assassination of a colonel in the Revolutionary Guards last week. Analysts believe the Israelis intended it as a warning to Iran to stop targeting Israeli citizens abroad.

RES. 1123, which had as its purpose “Recognizing the Nakba and Palestinian refugees’ rights” and to “commemorate the Nakba,” the catastrophe you assign to Israel’s creation, “through official recognition and remembrance.” According to your baleful resolution, the Nakba not only took place at Israel’s founding “but [refers] to an ongoing process of Israel’s expropriation of Palestinian land and its dispossession of the Palestinian people that continues to this day.”

T. Belman.  Emerson does a great job of pointing out how ludicrous this speaker’s positions are. The question is not whether we Zionists have a right to criticize her  but whether CUNY should have given her a platform. I go further, should one’s right to free speech be curtailed to outlaw such incendiary attacks on Zionism? Probably not, unless it incites violence as in this case.

But I believe that in Israel, the Jewish right to all the land should be protected by outlawing all attacks on our narrative or the promotion of the false Palestinian narrative. Such speech is criminal as it  incites violence. It also is a threat to our existence. Israel should no longer tolerate it in the name of free speech or fairness to the other..

All I’ve done is call (repeatedly) for the elimination of the world’s only Jewish state, by any means. Why are they so mean to me? Opinion.

Despite evidence to the contrary, there is the continued belief that there were no weapons of mass destruction found in Iraq.  Between the Democrats, the media who serve as their propagandist, and those who have an irrational hatred of George W. Bush, there has been a refusal to give up the lie that nothing was found in Iraq.

One of the reasons given by former president Bush for going into Iraq — beyond Hussein’s government funding international terrorist activities that did target Americans — was weapons of mass destruction were in fact found.  In other words, the weapons were not the only reason, but also the financing of international terrorism.

Iraq’s parliament passed sweeping legislation this week that would broaden the crime of normalizing ties with Israel, in a rare show of solidarity amid an eight-month political deadlock.

The legislation, passed on Thursday, goes further than a similar law dating back to 1969 by setting out much wider definitions for acts that would be considered a violation. Both the old law and the new make this a crime potentially punishable by death.

The future of the Old City of Jerusalem will be decided by facts on the ground and the Jews who purchase and live in buildings along the route of the planned march.

For years already, Israeli flags have been flown along the route that leads from Damascus Gate to the Western Wall, where the Jerusalem Day flag march will apparently proceed.

No one waves them, but they are more significant than the flags that will be carried there on Saturday. We are here, day after day, year after year.

The dozens of Jewish families who live along Hagai St. and its byways – from Beit Rand and Torat Haim to Beit Danon and Beit Wittenberg, Beit Nof, and other settlement points – are the true flags, the ones already raised on this route. They are living flags, a march of life.

I’m no political expert — merely an observer of life around me and an avid reader.  I’ve lived in California for well over 40 years, surviving quietly in an enclave of extreme leftist society.  It’s a sad thing that once-wonderful places to live have been so degraded.  We feel a force — a machine — pushing those changes, but we cannot see the machine itself.

I experience my community shrinking in on itself, as it’s overwhelmed by an ever-expanding lack of safety, increasing violence, rampant crime, homelessness, filth, drugs, and rotting infrastructure.  My little bedroom town has now installed license place readers at every entry, and the police blotter is filled with the resulting arrests.  Lots of entries say, “car left at high rate of speed, did not chase.”  This is what our world is coming to — unsafe schools included.  How is it that we allow such degradation of our quality of life?
