What is American wokeness really about?

By Victor Davis Hanson, JWR    July 29, 2021

Most Americans were as indifferent to the U.S. women’s soccer team’s recent loss to Sweden in the Olympics as they were excited about the team’s World Cup win in 2019.In between was the team’s nonstop politicking, from whining about compensation to virtue-signaling their disrespect for the United States. The celebrity face of the team, perennial scold Megan Rapinoe, is going the way of teenage grouch Greta Thunberg, becoming more pinched the more she is tuned out.

Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Marie Khan-Cullors Brignac used her corporate grifting to buy four homes. The one she bought in California’s Topanga Canyon is surrounded by a new $35,000 security fence.

Less than two months since the “change government” was sworn in, it is rattled by the fourth wave of the coronavirus in its Delta variant, now striking Israel. Each day, the number of the infected and seriously ill increases, the effect of the vaccinations is waning, and this puts Prime Minister Naftali Bennett under scrutiny for allegedly mishandling the crisis.

Bennett has been criticized for failing to take action since the infection rates have begun to rise in the past month, and preferring a reactive strategy, claiming that he is in control of the situation.

Iran protests gain momentum despite deadly crackdown

The protests that rocked the oil-rich province of Khuzestan have spread to other areas despite the government’s iron-fist response and severe internet disruptions.

On their 12th day, the rallies that initially began in the Iranian oil-rich but underdeveloped province of Khuzestan attracted growing solidarity from across the country.

Videos have gone viral of demonstrations in Tehran, Karaj, Kermanshah, Isfahan and Bushehr, where protesters have been chanting slogans against Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with calls for an end to the clerical ruling establishment. The videos from the city of Kermanshah also showed tense clashes between the two sides with repeated shootings in the background.

Israel Shifts To Standoff Weapons In Syria As Russian Threats Increase

The change comes as Russia says it has stopped using a deconfliction line with Israel.

on July 27, 2021 at 11:04 AM

TEL AVIV: Defense sources say the Israeli military is planning to change its tactics in Syria to revolve around long-range standoff munitions as opposed to air strikes, following a new Russian policy to use its higher-end air defense systems capable of shooting down Israeli jets over Syrian airspace.

The change follows an announcement late last week by Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit, the head of the Russian military reconciliation center in Syria, who said in a TV interview that the Russian forces assisted the Syrians in intercepting four missiles launched by Israeli F-16s — the first time Russian assistance was given to counter Israeli military operations.

Department of Justice Warns States Against Violating Federal Law With Audits

BY ZACHARY STIEBER, EPOCH TIMEWS July 28, 2021 Updated: July 28, 2021

Department of Justice (DOJ) officials alerted states on July 28 that they’re closely tracking the 2020 election audit taking place in Arizona and proposed audits in several other states.

The new guidance document summarizes the Biden administration’s position on federal law concerning audits, deeming the round of reviews that are either complete, in progress, or being proposed to be “unusual” and “exceedingly rare,” while highlighting that federal law imposes constraints under which counties and states must comply.

Bracing for the storm

The Biden administration’s decision to withdraw the last American troops from Iraq might make sense from an internal political standpoint, but it inevitably exposes the Middle East, and especially Israel, to great danger.

By  Prof. Abraham Ben-Zvi, ISRAEL HAYOM

At first glance, United States President Joe Biden’s decision to bring home the 2,500 American troops stationed in Iraq by the end of this year seems sensible in terms of internal politics. Already during his election campaign, he promised to put an end to the long-running American tragedy.

Not only did former President George Bush, who declared the war, fail to overthrow Saddam Hussein’s murderous regime and turn Baghdad into a democracy, but set in motion the violent and chaotic process of the disintegration of the Iraqi nation into various ethnic and religious components, giving a window of opportunity to Iran to expand its control in the divided country.

Republican lawmakers propose bill to block US aid to UNRWA

JNS

“US taxpayer dollars should never go to a corrupt entity that undermines Israel, one of our greatest allies and closest friends,” Representative Chip Roy says.

Republicans in Congress are responding to the resumption of US foreign aid to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees by the Biden administration earlier this year by introducing a set of bills aimed at preventing taxpayer funds from being sent to the agency unless certain requirements are met.

Questions that Won’t be Asked by the January 6 Commission

By C.S. Boddie, AM THINKER

The January 6 commission held a dramatic first hearing with lots of crocodile tears and a few real ones.  As usual, the Democrats, and the two Democrat-friendly Republicans, seemed to agree on an emotional approach to the topic at hand to gain advantage over their political opponents. However, they failed to ask and answer important questions.

Also, they based their hearing on a false premise: “the Jan. 6 event was an insurrection.” No, it wasn’t. If the hundreds of thousands of Americans who attended the peaceful rally before the riot had wanted an insurrection, we would have seen a much larger, and probably an armed presence. That was not the case. Read more…

The myth of “Occupied Palestinian Territories” — Part 1 of 2

By Rabbi Dov Fischer, INN

A simple question: If someone murders you and seizes your home, do your kids have a right to take it back? Or do the murdering interlopers get to keep it?

The Bible tells us that Patriarch Avraham (Abraham) buried his wife, Matriarch Sarah, in the Cave of Machpelah in the city of ?evron (Hebron). Genesis 23. The Torah text specifies that he purchsed the cave with his own money at an exorbitant over-market price. 23:15-16. Later, he was buried there by his sons, Patriarch Yitzchak (Isaac) and Yishmael (Ishmael). 25:7-10. In time, Isaac and Matriarch Rivkah (Rebecca) were buried there, and thereafter Patriarch Yaakov (Jacob) and Matriarch Leah. 49:29-32; 50:13. Of the seven patriarchs and matriarchs, only Rachel was buried elsewhere, having died on the road to Efrat, near Beit Lechem (Bethlehem), while giving birth to Binyamin (Benjamin). 35:16-20.\

Big Tech to Use Shared Anti-Terror Database to Target ‘Right-Wing Extremist’ Content

By Debra Heine, AM GREATNESS

An organization used by the United States’ biggest tech monopolies, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Microsoft, will soon be targeting material from alleged white supremacists and far-right militias by “expanding the types of extremist content shared between firms in a key database,” according to Reuters.

In the past, the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism’s database has focused primarily on videos and images from actual terrorist groups on a United Nations watch list and thus “has largely consisted of content from Islamist extremist organizations such as Islamic State, al Qaeda and the Taliban.”

The Biden Administration Blocks Scrutiny of Jihadi Visitors

by Todd Bensman, MEF

Jihadist hate for Jews allegedly inspired 24-year-old Egyptian Khaled Awad on July 1 to viciously stab Boston area Rabbi Shlomo Noginski outside a Jewish day school. Suffolk County authorities were planning to charge the Egyptian chemical engineering student with domestic terrorism-related hate crimes, and the father-of-12 rabbi is recovering from his eight stab wounds.

But this latest attack should not yet fade from public view without note that it squarely underscores a Biden administration move less than a week later that almost surely will condemn more Americans to Rabbi Noginski’s fate.

Extend Israel sovereignty over Gaza

T. Belman. This is interesting but it misses the big possibility, In my article Memo to Kushner I argued for the Gazans being incentivized to emigrate to Jordan and for Israel to extend her sovereignty to all of Gaza. This is part of the Jordan Option. Another part of the benefits flowing from Mudar taking over Jordan would be that the PA withers away and Jordan represents the Palestinians .
