Philadelphia librarians under fire, accused of indoctrinating children with anti-Israel material

T. Belman.  We must remain forever vigilant. We must not succumb to the idea that there are two narratives here and both must be respected. There is only one truth.

The Philadelphia Free Library said that it would be auditing its social-media posts, which with all its branches was going to be time-consuming; update its blog guidelines and social-media policy; and meet with members of the Jewish community to help guide the library in the future.

By Dmitey Shapiro, jns

A public library system in Philadelphia is promising to make operational changes after drawing criticism for what some community members are considering an effort to indoctrinate children and parents against Israel through books, videos and resource links that show a biased pro-Palestinian agenda.

The issues were first discovered by members of the Jewish community, who contacted the Philadelphia Chapter of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) to express their concerns. ZOA Philadelphia’s executive director, Steve Feldman, a former reporter for The Jewish Exponent, looked into the concerns and said that he was disturbed by what he found on the website of the Free Library of Philadelphia—the country’s 13th-largest system of public libraries.

The Ten Commandments of Critical Race Theory

By Geoffrey Clarfield, AM THINKER

Recently, one of Canada’s best-known rabbis (an American by birth and a graduate of prestigious colleges in the USA) asked me bluntly and simply to explain the essence of Critical Race Theory. This is what I told him.

Critical Race Theory is the latest version of Marxism, except it has gone racial. This means that unlike traditional Marxist theory, which used to focus on the injustices experienced by working men and women in industrial and industrializing societies around the world and preached violent revolution to overthrow the capitalist democracy that persecutes them, the new victims are any kind of minority, usually people of color, but not exclusively. The “white” working class no longer counts.

Martha Lee: Is France Getting Serious about Islamism?

by Marilyn Stern, Middle East Forum Webinar
August 30, 2021

Sam Westrop, project director for the Middle East Forum’s Islamist Watch, interviewed Martha Lee, Islamist Watch research fellow, in an August 6 Middle East Forum webinar (video) regarding the French government’s response to Islamism in the wake of deadly jihadi terror attacks.

Reeling from 264 deaths from Islamist terrorism since 2015, France has embarked on a far more wide-ranging response to the threat than any other Western country. Whereas successive American administrations have regarded jihadi violence as a policing matter, while ignoring or even accommodating lawful Islamist groups, French President Emmanuel Macron and most of the French political establishment understand “that Islamist terrorism can’t be entirely separate from lawful Islamism.”

The Thirteen-Hundred-And-Eighty-Nine-Year War

T. Belman. The invaders were allowed to ‘pillage and rape”. Thus their troops were greatly incentivized. No purity of arms for them.

But more important is the question of how they remained in power and converted the people they conquered. I wrote about this in Trump calls muslim immigration the all time biggest “Trojan Horse”

During an interview regarding the recent suicide attack on Kabul airport, a former Navy SEAL quipped that no one making military decisions for the United States seems to have read a history book. Lack of knowledge, he implied, is partly why America is suffering a humiliating and unconscionable defeat in Afghanistan.

Here, then, is a short skeletal history of Muslim-Christian relations beginning with Islam’s founding in 622 AD by Muhammad, an Arab military leader intent on unifying the Arab world and conquering the rest. The lessons learned might put us on the right path forward.

US withdrawal from Afghanistan empowers global terrorism

By Dore Gold, JCPA

In a stunning statement last Friday in which he defended his withdrawal decision, President Joe Biden claimed that Al-Qaida was “gone” from Afghanistan. The glaring problem with that claim is that Biden did not have the backing of the American security establishment to make it. An hour after Biden spoke, Defense Department Press Secretary John Kirby stated, “We know Al-Qaida is a presence in Afghanistan.”

A Defense Department report to Congress issued on Aug. 17 plainly states, “The Taliban continued to maintain its relationship with Al-Qaida, providing safe haven for the terrorist group in Afghanistan.” Roughly at the same time, the Taliban released 5,000 prisoners from Bagram airbase, which included Al-Qaida and Islamic State operatives.

Gantz Boosts PA Through Abbas Meeting

T. Belman. My guess is that Bennett had to agree to the Gantz meeting in order to get a meeting with Biden.

By Josh Hasten

Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with PA head Mahmoud Abbas last night, which represents the first high ranking and face to face meeting between Israel and the PA in a decade. On today’s Israel Uncensored with Josh Hasten, Josh says that the gathering, on the heels of Friday’s meeting between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and US President Joe Biden in Washington, is disturbing. Despite the fact that the PA continues to pay terrorists and their families for the murder of Israelis though their “pay for slay” program, it seems that Israel is once again trying to legitimize and bolster the PA, which has been a failed policy since the Oslo Accords in the mid-1990’s.

From the Second Lebanon War to Regional War

By August 29, 2021

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, image via Wikipedia

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Second Lebanon War was probably the last time Israel was going to be able to focus on fighting on a single front. The next war may well be a regional war. This strategic shift will require a significant increase in the order of IDF forces and preparation of the Israeli public for the kind of war it has not seen since the War of Independence.

After Afghanistan, U.S. Still Doesn’t Know Shiite From Shinola

As our skittish media hounds and politicians gnash their teeth over Afghanistan, less hysterical countries are acting calmly in their national interest.

By

With the American media as master of ceremonies, our pundits and politicians—all partners in the neocon-neoliberal joint venture in Afghanistan—are barking mad over the images coming out of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, and the reality these optics portend.

Naturally, media “reporting” from Afghanistan is nothing but an unremitting sentimental gush, aimed at creating a state of heightened emotions.

The children, the children! The translators, the translators! Americans held hostage behind enemy lines! exclaimed every “macho” personality at Fox News. The same litany runs on a continuous loop.

Radical Islam and the clash of civilizations

By Abraham H. Miller, AM THINKER

The Biden administration will go to great lengths to downplay the significance of the debacle in Afghanistan. But no amount of wishful thinking or meaningless creations like over-the-horizon capabilities will deny the reality that the loss of Afghanistan has implications for the conflict with radical Islam far beyond Afghanistan’s geographic borders.

Culture is the primary context in which statecraft takes place. It is a concept that runs through the works of the late Professor Adda Bozeman, who understood that diplomats often talk past each other because the culture and linguistic context in which they operate mean different things.

Shaked: “We won’t let Supreme Court reinterpret the Law of Return”

T. Belman.  I have no trouble having such widows being given Israeli citizenship under the Law of Return. But such a law is for the Knesset to pass and not for the High Court to interpret.

Supreme Court ruled that the non-Jewish widow of someone entitled to citizenship may claim citizenship for herself.

On Sunday, the Israeli Supreme Court issued a ruling that the widow of a person entitled to immigrate to Israel under the Law of Return (being either the child or grandchild of a Jew) – no matter whether the widow is Jewish or not – is also entitled to receive Israeli citizenship. The ruling was made by two of the three judges on the court (Justices Yitzhak Amit and Anat Baron); the third judge, Justice David Mintz, dissented.

Team of Western feminists rescues thirty Afghan feminist women

T. Belman.  No doubt the woke community is no where to be found in this endeavor.

We gathered together swiftly and began the work which has now lasted for five intense around-the-clock weeks and continues on. Op-ed.

Afghan women
Afghan women

What feminists in the West easily take for granted—Afghan feminists have to die for. If they don’t want to wear a burqa, marry their first cousin, be battered for the rest of their lives; if they want a higher education, do not want to marry, are determined to help other women—they are endangered, targeted, tortured, and executed. Their own families might honor kill them. Now, they may be forced into sex slavery by the Taliban in order to breed a new generation of warriors.

These Afghan feminist women are heroic, fearless, and are fighting for universal values. Some are still in hiding in Afghanistan, others are at the airport in Kabul, some are in the air. The lucky ones are in overcrowded temporary camps in the Middle East or dispersed throughout Europe. They rely on us because they have no one else left.

Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch sees no future for Reform Judaism without Israel ties

With rabbinical students accusing Israel of apartheid, this top New York rabbi fears a split over whether or not Jewish peoplehood is a central priority

It was, for Israel, a painful awakening, served up by those who are supposed to be its dearest friends. The 100 names at the bottom of the letter published during the latest round of fighting between Israel and Gaza aren’t well known in Israel or the United States, but they are the future leadership of the American Jewish community: Reform and Conservative rabbinical students, those attending seminaries in the hopes of being ordained or becoming a cantor.

“So many of us ignore the day-to-day indignity that the Israeli military and police forces enact on Palestinians, and sit idly by as Israel upholds two separate legal systems for the same region,” the aspiring Jewish leaders wrote in their “Rabbinical and Cantorial Students Appeal to the Heart of the Jewish Community.”

OUTRAGEOUS: Virginia Public Schools to Focus on Muslims—As Victims—in Teaching About 9/11 On Attacks’ 20th Anniversary

BY ROBERT SPENCER, PJ MEDIA AUG 28, 2021 1:41 PM ET

AP Photo/Richard Drew, File

On Thursday, the Virginia Department of Education published a video entitled, “Culturally Responsive and Inclusive 9/11 Commemoration,” detailing how Virginia public school teachers should handle the upcoming twentieth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 jihad terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans. The emphasis on that day and thereafter must not be on the ideology of the attackers or the ongoing jihad terror threat; rather, the focus is entirely on acknowledging and eradicating what the video calls “anti-Muslim racism.”

Bennett’s goals, Israel’s goals

One has to wonder why the Israeli prime minister insisted on visiting the White House in the midst of the greatest strategic catastrophe to befall the US since the Sept. 11 attacks.

By  Caroline B. Glick, ISRAEL HAYOM

Three weeks ago, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz convened the ambassadors from all the UN Security Council member nations in Jerusalem and told them that if Iran maintains its current pace of uranium enrichment, it will reach military nuclear break-out capacity in 70 days. If their countdown clock is accurate, Iran is now around seven weeks away from becoming a nuclear-capable state.

Given the urgency of the situation, Israel’s prime minister could have been expected to fly to Washington to make clear to the US president that Israel intends to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities Qom, Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan, (or any combination of them), in order to stop the clock. The same prime minister could be expected to tell the president that while Israel would appreciate US assistance in carrying out the mission, all Israel asks is for the US not to undermine its operation.

Don’t be taken in by Bennett’s happy talk.

By Ted Belman

It is sickening to read this. in TOI article.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett touted his “warm” and “successful” meeting with President Joe Biden on Friday, saying all of his goals had been achieved during his trip.

“We’re about to take off from a successful visit to Washington — the peak of which was meeting Biden,” Bennett said in a statement shortly before leaving the US capital. “We had a particularly warm and helpful meeting. Biden and I have developed a direct and personal relationship built on trust.”
