‘Gantz has made a deal with Biden for settlement freeze’

T. Belman. It will come as a surprise to some that the entire responsibility for J&S rests with the Min of Defense. Thus he decides what to do with illegal Arab construction in Area C and Jewish settlement building subject to any constraints that have been place upon him in the Coalition Agreement.

This is one more assault on Bennett’s red lines.

Gush Etzion Regional Council chief Shlomo Ne’eman claims Defense Minister has already begun freezing Jewish construction in Judea & Samaria.

Arutz Sheva Staff , Jun 02 , 2021 11:44 AM

A senior settlement leader has accused Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz of cutting a deal with the Biden administration to block Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria.

In a statement released Wednesday morning, Gush Etzion Regional Council head Shlomo Ne’eman said Gantz had already begun to impose the de facto building freeze in Judea and Samaria.

The latest battle in the War of Independence

It’s taken different forms over 73+ years, but as its core, it’s the same war. The issue is not 1967 — it’s 1948.

By Daniel Gordis

In 2003, we had to send our kids to school with gas masks. This was me, with our youngest child, making sure that his fit tight. That, too, was the War of Independence.

Twenty years ago, more or less, we were having dinner at the home of friends in Sha’ar HaNegev, a small community situated very close to the Gaza border. In the midst of the standard dinner chit-chat, we heard an enormous boom, and the entire house shook. I looked at my wife, she looked at me, but no one said anything; we just kept eating and talking. A few minutes went by, and again, an enormous boom – and once again the house shook. No one so much as acknowledged the tank firing away just a few hundred meters from where we were seated.

Biden Administration Rewards Terrorists: Abbas and Hamas

T. Belman. Hamas has learned that if it is short of cash, to start a war in which Gaza get pulverized.  Billions of dollars will flow into the strip affording Hamas the opportunity to skim off the top, all they need, and then some.  There is no downside for them as the EU , US, UN are all committed to their survival, regardless of the fact that they are designated a terrorist organization.

They could if they wished, empty Gaza of its population thereby solving a problem that has existed for 20 years. Instead they get brownie points for supporting the the peace process through the two-state solution which they know is a dead end street.

by Bassam Tawil, GATESTONE  •  June 1, 2021 at 5:00 am

    • Ironically, the same Abbas who told Blinken that he (Abbas) is committed to a peace process with Israel is the same Abbas who also wants to see his Israeli “peace partners” put on trial at the ICC.
    • Now comes Blinken and announces that the reopening of the consulate in the city. Here is how the Palestinians understand his gestures: If you fire 4,000 rockets and missiles at Israel, you get a US embassy in Jerusalem and millions of dollars of US taxpayer money. It works! The solution, then, is to keep on doing it!

The Iranian regime is giving Hamas terrorists resources to produce “thousands of new rockets” in the Gaza Strip, according to a new report in Tehran’s state-controlled media.

Following a two-week-long war with Israel this month in which Hamas and other terror groups bombarded the Jewish state with missiles funded and provided by Iran, Hamas is moving to restock its weapons cache.

By DEBORAH BRAND, BRIETBART

Kurt Zindulka/Breitbart News

Antisemitism in the U.S. is much worse than it appears and is on the rise because of “woke culture,” intersectionality and parallels with the Black Lives Matter movement, the heads of a major U.S. Jewish group said this week.

Dianne Lob, chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, told the Times of Israel on Monday the increase in antisemitism comes from the discourse on the left wing of the U.S. political spectrum.

New gov’t planning sweeping concessions to Bedouin sector

T. Belman. UNBELIEVABLE.  Bennett is crossing a red line here. IS THIS FAKE NEWS OR REAL?

Also, it appears that Israel lost the war against Hamas judging by what Israel is talking about in the ceasefire talks.

Bennett is selling out Zionism,’ says Smotrich. United Arab List claims opposition leaders have agreed to unprecedented concessions.

Opposition leaders working to form a new government led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid have agreed to ‘unprecedented’ concessions to the Bedouin sector, according to a report by Channel 12 Tuesday morning.

Journalist Amit Segal quoted sources in the United Arab List (Ra’am) who claimed that they had reached agreements in talks with the parties involved in forming the new government that would radically reduce law enforcement efforts against illegal Arab construction across southern Israel in exchange for UAL’s support for the new government.

There are three constants in life: death, taxes and . . . antisemitism

By Jackie Mason    May 31, 2021
Jackie Mason

Well, it is happening again. My grandfather told me about it. My father told me about it. Every other Jew who came over from Europe told me about it. Even the New York Times told me about it. You got it, antisemitism and the persecution of Jews. When I was a young man sometime in the early part of last century, whenever I looked into the NY Times classified section for a job that I really needed, the jobs available would say “White Christian only”.<
>

The NY Times wasn’t always as woke as it is now. I’m not even as woke as I am now, because I just fell asleep while writing this sentence.

Israel vs Anti-Israel Advocacy Journalism

Advocacy journalism can inspire Israel to take the initiative and control its own destiny, as it lives in a woke world where its right to exist is fair game, and violence against Jews is excused.

I read the New York Times lead story this weekend, “Life Under Occupation: The Misery at the Heart of the Conflict,” as a justification for this Gaza war and militant violence. Personal stories to pull at your heartstrings are the strategy of pro-Palestinian organizations and the Times.

“Mr. Abu Alia seethed as he described seeing his son outside in the dark, ‘afraid, crying because of the soldiers, and I can do nothing to protect him. It makes you want to take revenge…. But we have nothing to defend ourselves with. Stone-throwing must suffice. We can’t take an M-16 and go kill every settler. All we have are those stones. A bullet can kill you instantly. A little stone won’t do much. But at least I’m sending a message.’”

The newest way to malign Israel: White supremacy

Here in the United States, the latest tactic of the anti-Israel movement is to connect the Jewish state to the racist sins of white supremacy.

By David Suissa, jns

Israel-hatred is very much like Jew-hatred—the haters will always find new ways to hate.

If you have any doubt about the irrational hatred for Israel, just consider the United Nations. According to UN Watch, since 2015 there have been 112 General Assembly Resolutions against Israel, compared to a grand total of zero for countries like China, Cuba, Venezuela, Libya, Turkey, Qatar and Pakistan.

Even Israel’s sharpest critics must admit this is an extreme case of discrimination and selective prosecution of the world’s only Jewish state.

Biden Restarts Aid to Palestinians In Violation of US Law

By C. Douglas Goldin, WESTERN JOURNALISM

On Sunday, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi traveled to Cairo to meet with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry. It was, Ashkenazi tweeted, “the first formal visit of an Israeli FM in 13 years” to Egypt.

Chief among the topics, according to Deutsche Welle: “establishing a permanent cease-fire with Hamas, a mechanism for providing humanitarian aid and the reconstruction of Gaza with a pivotal role played by the international community,” as per Ashkenazi.

My mother was born in Sheikh Jarrah in 1921

My mother’s family was one of 97 families in Sheikh Jarrah in the early 1900s, but the Jewish roots there go back much further. Op-ed.

Leftists, Arabs protest over 'Judaization' of Sheikh Jarrah (illustrative)

Leftists, Arabs protest over ‘Judaization’ of Sheikh Jarrah (illustrative)

As the Sheikh Jarrah case awaits the court’s decision, many voices can be heard asserting that Israeli Jews are “colonizing” the Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrakh and that Israel is trying to “Judaize” Jerusalem. My family’s history undermines those claims and suggests that the accusations are but another attempt to eradicate the history of a Jewish community.

My mom, Miriam, was born in 1921 in the Shimon Ha’Tzadik neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrakh., The Jewish presence in Sheikh Jarrah centered on the tomb of Shimon HaTzadik, one of the last members of the Great Assembly, the governing body of the Jewish people after the Babylonian Exile.

Netanyahu fights to block opposition parties from taking power

By Steve Hendrix  and  Shira Rubin, WaPo  May 31, 2021 at 9:08 p.m. GMT+3

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies worked furiously Monday to keep opposition parties from forming a government that would displace him from Israel’s top political job for the first time in more than 12 years.

Netanyahu backers slammed right-wing parties planning to join the broad-based coalition as “traitors,” picketed their homes and issued threats that led police to provide additional security to at least two of the targeted politicians.

The pressure came as members of the coalition finalized their agreement to form a power-sharing government that would include former Netanyahu allies, centrists and liberals, and even the indirect support of an Arab Islamist party. The arrangement, which could come up for a vote by the full parliament within the week, would potentially end more than two years of political stalemate in which no faction has been able to secure a governing majority after four inconclusive elections.

The Hagia Sophia: A ‘Center of Knowledge about Islam’?

By Raymond Ibrahim, AM THINKER

Last summer, Turkish authorities transformed Hagia Sophia (“Holy Wisdom”) — which was originally built, and for a millennium functioned, as one of Christendom’s greatest cathedrals — into a mosque (again).  On that Friday, July 24, 2020 (which for millions of Eastern Christians is now deemed a “day of mourning“), Muslims met inside the desecrated church, where they were led in prayer by a sword-waving imam, to spasmodic cries of “Allahu akbar.”

The Turks, beginning with their president, Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, have been presenting this bit of cultural appropriation as their “right.”  Imam Ali Erbas, Turkey’s president of religious affairs, has gone one farther, claiming that “the goal is for all our mosques and especially Hagia Sophia to become centers of knowledge about Islam.”

Four Days in May

by Victor Rosenthal             May 30, 2021

This story has everything: the moral bankruptcy and cowardice of Western academia, the obsessive need of Palestinians and their supporters to make everything about them, and the emptiness of their insistence that they are not antisemitic, only “critical of Israel.”

On 26 May 2021, the Chancellor and Provost of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, released a statement* by email condemning recent antisemitic violence, called “Speaking Out Against Acts of Antisemitism.”
