It’s better to be feared than to be loved, if you are a small state in the Middle East. In Israel’s neighborhood, one can add hated, because that’s what the Jews have faced for at least 100 years. You can also add respect, because Israel is respected as a formidable military power. Today, Israel is hated by some, respected by others, and feared by its enemies.

Peloni:  Hussain is exactly correct in describing how the US should have dealt with, and should be dealing with, Jolani to gain US support. Focus on the first half of the interview for these comments.

Peloni:  Sec. Rubio and Pres. Trump should prioritize the extradition of Ahlam Tamimi.  The region is in flux and the Jordanians receive the largest aid package in world history from the US.  The US should not ask for Tamimi’s extradition, they should demand it, today.

Much of the world’s media has chosen to report on Israel’s intention to enlarge the city of Rafah so that it can accommodate another 600,000 Gazans (the total population of Gaza is 2.2 million), as if what was being planned by those endlessly wicked Israelis was an internment camp or, worse still, a “concentration camp.” That is not what is planned, but everyone seems determined to mislead, in order to blacken Israel’s image in the world even more than has already been accomplished. Peloni:  Mike Doran and Gadi Taub begin their conversation by detailing the fake news surrounding the antisemitic claim of famine in Gaza which is being promoted by both the Israeli press as well as the international press.  During this, Mike makes the important observation that this is due to a failure in leadership around the world, and that even Pres. Trump has failed to focus upon the fact that Hamas needs to be destroyed and that there is no famine in Gaza.  Following this, they discuss the role being played withing the IDF, notably by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, raising the aim of rescuing the hostages above that of achieving victory.  They also address the controversy over the need of Israel to occupy Gaza whenever the war actually ends.  Beginning around 28 min. mark, Mike provides an important perspective challenging Israel’s policy of protecting the Druze as it has Israel opposing policies pursued by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the US, while also working towards the benefit of Iran, thus questioning both Israel’s wisdom and ability to deal with the consequences of doing so.

In New York State, Jews have the highest favorable opinion of President Trump. Jews support Trump more than any other religious group, more than Catholics and Protestants, upstate voters, and more than white voters in general.

Jews are the only identity group in the state with whom Trump isn’t underwater even at the same time as Sen. Schumer polls worse among Jews than among Catholics or Protestants.

Peloni:  This was a very in depth discussion with David Wurmser about the war with Iran and the mentality and convictions which have drawn Iran to where it is and its inability to be intimidated by demonstrations of Western power.  The entire video is well worth hearing, but the last twenty minutes beginning around 49min mark is particularly revealing.  Wurmser describes how the pro Iran supporters such as Carlson and Bannon limited Trump’s ability to support Israel’s attempt to finalize the war with a decapitating blow, but that his efforts to avoid such a scenario could only be met with disappointment due to Iran’s uninhibited need to see the West destroyed, indicating that regime change is the only viable solution to preventing a nuclear Iran.

Peloni:  An important and discerning conversation with Edwin Black who provides important context and descriptions to the threat which Iran holds in its damaged nuclear program.  Explaining that regime change in Iran is the only path which will lead to regional security/stability, he explains that it remains to be seen if regime change will take place.

Peloni: The pursuit of saving the hostages damages the war aim of victory, and has kept Israel from claiming victory for nearly two years now.  While it might be difficult to accept, the manner best suited towards gaining greater numbers of hostages released would be to end the negotiations and focus on the aim of victory, leaving the onus of making greater concessions towards a hostage deal with Hamas.  Doing otherwise only strengthens Hamas’ resolve and makes the hostages too valuable to gain their release in total as Douglas describes below.

The price for the release of a terrorist serving multiple life sentences needs to be the return of all Israeli hostages, alive and dead, at one time.

In its never-ending revisions to the conditions for any kind of hostage release, Hamas has now added the release of Israeli prisoner Marwan Barghouti, a convicted Palestinian terrorist who is serving multiple life sentences. He is a veritable pillar of Hamas lore and terror.
