Peloni: One of the most disturbing reports ever written was the revelation of what has earned the infamous unrevealing title of “The Spy Affair.” Notably, what prevented this report from being the most disturbing report ever written was due to the efforts to prevent this story ever seeing the light of day. We will be covering this story further in future posts, so prepare yourself for what will challenge your perspectives on almost everything you know about October 7. The telling of this story was restricted due to a two-and-a-half-year gag order which thankfully was violated by investigation and reporting of the likes of MK Almog Cohen, retired senior police officer and journalist extraordinaire, Avi Weiss, and the intrepid researcher and journalist, Yossi Baum, among others. The story begins with what is described below, but there is so much more to this story which you will come to see, and with every detail revealed you will see that this story becomes more and more shocking and less and less believable. You won’t want to miss my further elaborating comments below the tweet.

ISRAEL SECURITY UPDATE
After more than two years under a publication ban, Israel’s Supreme Court has authorized the release of details in a sensitive espionage case tied to the October 7 attacks.The suspect has now been identified as Assaf Shmuelavitz.
Key details:
• Accused of impersonating an IDF captain in the early days of the war
• Allegedly entered military command centers, recorded classified conversations, and collected sensitive information
• Prosecutors say the information was shared with unauthorized individuals, though not hostile entities
• The case was largely secret due to national security concerns
• The Supreme Court rejected a request to keep his identity confidential, citing public interest and the need to dispel conspiracy theoriesThe trial is ongoing at the Be’er Sheva District Court, and the defendant is currently held under hospitalization conditions following psychiatric evaluations.
This case highlights the chaos and vulnerabilities inside the system during the first days after October 7.

What goes unstated in the above listed key details is that the military command center which Shmuelavitz entered while using false insignia of an IDF captain was the very Shin Bet command center where plans were being drawn up for the rescue of the October 7 hostages. This was one day after the hostages were first taken, and at the time their whereabouts were precisely known, and an Entebbe-like mission to rescue them was being arranged. Additionally, it had been discovered that among the terrorists in their company was the notorious Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar.
Due to the breach of security at this command center, which included more than just Shmuelavitz gaining access to the facility, the plans to rescue the hostages in one swell sweep was discarded. Among the corollaries to this tragedy is that the hostages were abandoned in the terror dens of Gaza for two years where they were employed as human shields, and during this time they were also employed as political tokens in constant attempts to try to destabilize the Israeli govt.
Notably, the justice system and national security norms were twisted beyond recognition as the case against Shmuelavitz was stalled from moving forward as was the investigation into more than seventy people who possibly aided him. Now, he has been deemed unfit to stand trial, while dozens of additional suspects will remain unnamed, uninvestigated, and uncharged. And in this short summary we have ignored the possible role which the Americans might have played in all of this…
Ironically, the gag order restricting the defendant’s name was lifted several weeks ago, but the details of the case remained under court ordered gag til today.
This is still just a bare minimum of the details of what took place, so more to come…

@Sebastien
@dreuveni
He is said to have only his license when accessing the high security facility, but he was brought there with someone who did have an authentic security id. As @dreuveni noted, this is a really complicated story, with many aspects not explored at all, and which should have been explored as if the security of the nation was at stake during a time of war, because this is in fact the situation in which all of this took place. More details to come. Hopefully later today or tomorrow.
The real story here is not Shmuelavits. It is everyone who he came in contact with, none of whom have been investigated, and never will be. The Israeli Deep State is very deep, and very connected to its sister Deep State in Washington.
The fingerprints all over this story are the same ones that allowed 10/7 to take place. I can only hope that the culprits are dealt with appropriately. The person who had proper security ID is very much a person of interest.
I can’t wait for the next installment.
@Peloni
Maybe it was a pefectly innocent misunderstanding like
this? 😀

Sebastian, there is a whole lot more behind this story than these bare facts. We need to be patient and wait for further facts to become known. We have been getting sand thrown in our eyes long enough. No need to add another shovelful. One bare fact is that this Shmuelavitz guy is in hospital detention but otherwise free. We need to keep an eye on him. Psychiatric diagnoses have been know to be off mark and funnily, those who provide a false diagnosis are not held accountable.
@dreuveni That he was able to pull this just by flashing an IDF uniform and ID sounds like the Captain from Koepernick stunt, doesn’t it?
@dreuveni I think this is a bigger problem than this guy’s motivation. The fact the he was able to get away with this just by wearing a stolen uniform, showing ID and bluster is the same MO as the Pimpernel, Kopernick and Wallenberg scenarios. Something needs to be adjusted in knee-jerk attitudes to symbols of authority and additional verifications, not sure what, maybe biometrics, among other things. It’s a visible vulnerability.

Arab Israelis disguised as IDF fighters raided a jewelry store in Judea and Samaria, wearing IDF-style uniforms, long weapons, and military helmets to carry out the robbery under heavy security. IDF forces launched a pursuit shortly after the incident and captured the suspects.
@Sebastian, you’re right of course. With an officer rank and uniform, the guard at the gate will think twice before stopping him.
I’m reminded of my late Brooklyn-born Jewish mother – she was from an traditionally observant family in Crown Heights, though not Chasidic – who graduated from Bennington College with a music degree in 1945, quipping that if she had been one of those American GI’s being quizzed about their knowledge of popular American team sports like baseball by sentries to make sure they were really Americans, not Germans in disguise, in the movies, she would have been shot as a spy. 😀
Though she did do volunteer agricultural work for the war effort, at the same time, while supporting herself first as a waitress and then singing French songs, and accompanying herself on the piano in a cabaret nightclub. She had a partial scholarship.
I’m reminded of a singer my mother and I knew who performed in Israel in 1967 but did volunteer agricultural work in Cuba in the Venceremos Brigades in the ‘70s.
American Jewish leftists who later turned on Israel like Noam Chomsky or Bernie Sanders, I forget, volunteered on Kibbutzes in the ‘50s, working or pretending to work while virtue-signaling.
