Trump Declares ‘Prohibition’ on Israel Bombing Lebanon

Peloni:  Once again Pres. Trump offers a blunt and disturbing statement on Israel as it applies to Lebanon.  Ignoring the condescending and reproachful manner in which Trump has announced the prohibition of Israel’s freedom of action in Lebanon, this statement contrasts with the ceasefire terms which Trump imposed on Israel yesterday, which states that “Israel shall preserve its right to take all necessary measures in self-defense, at any time, against planned, imminent, or ongoing attacks.”

Furthermore, by making such a blunt and inclusive statement preventing Israel the right of even self defense, it emboldens Hezbollah to act indiscriminately without concern of any repercussions which might arise.  Additionally, this latest statement characterizes Israel’s actions as being those of an aggressor when the facts remain that the war with Hezbollah is and has always been a war of self defense, even as it required Trump’s intervention to forestall Hezbollah’s defeat in Southern Lebanon after initiating the war.  In fact, in this chastising statement, Trump fails to address the most relevant fact of all, which is that Israel is not attacking Lebanon, but the Hezbollah terrorists which Lebanon was given more than a year to disarm under the previous US managed ceasefire which Trump’s administration failed to achieve any successes despite providing billions of dollars to Lebanon for this expressed purpose. As I noted yesterday, Trump should not have unilaterally declared the ceasefire, but more troubling than that, Trump should not have made this latest pronouncement, stripping Israel of the measures asserted by Trump in the initial ceasefire agreement, and he should not have cast Israel as the villain in responding to the waves of Iranian sponsored terror launched against Israel’s northern communities.

Beyond all this, in a world in which antisemitism is rising exponentially, a trend which Trump is fighting against, due to its tone and content, this statement below will come to be used with great effect in support of this continuing campaign of Jew Hatred.
