As murder and mayhem rage across the Middle East, the World Jewish Congress is incensed that the Jewish state has been singled out for a boycott by an academic institution
by the commentator on 16 December 2013
Ronald S. Lauder, President of the New York based World Jewish Congress (WJC), representing Jewish groups in 100 countries, has denounced in the strongest terms a vote by the American Studies Association to boycott Israeli institutions.
Speaking of the boycott move by the group, which has almost 5,000 academic members, Mr. Lauder said Monday:
“This vote to boycott Israel, one of the most democratic and academically free nations on the globe, shows the Orwellian anti-Semitism and moral bankruptcy of the American Studies Association (ASA).
“The Middle East is literally filled with dead from governments’ reaction to the convulsions of the ‘Arab Spring,’ but the American Studies Association singles out the Jewish State, the one Middle Eastern country that shares American values, for opprobrium? No wonder many Americans dismiss the academy as deeply biased and disconnected with reality.”
WJC President Lauder added:
“…the ASA should follow the example of the American Association of University Professors, which notes that any such boycott ‘undermines exactly the freedoms one wants to defend, and it takes aim at the wrong target.”
In a statement adding to Mr. Lauder’s remarks, the WJC further noted that:
“The American Association of University Professors, one of the largest US academic groups, recently reiterated its opposition to boycotts targeting Israel and others. The ASA, a group of scholars who teach American studies, approved the anti-Israel boycott resolution by a 2-to-1 margin in online balloting that concluded Sunday night, with about a quarter of the members voting, according to the New York Times.
“The vote is the first time the association has boycotted any nation’s universities and only the second such academic boycott of Israel by a group of American scholars. The Association for Asian American Studies endorsed a boycott of Israeli universities in April.”
Analysts say that the United States may now be experiencing a form of contagion from countries in Europe such as Britain, though academic boycott moves in the UK have tended to be defeated or overturned in subsequent ballots.

@ Shy Guy:
Old Jew telling jokes, that not a Swedish accent, that a Yiddish accent. I know the difference.

I actually know someone who went to an over-crowded wedding, where he bumped into a female acquaintance who, unknown to him, was recently widowed.
“How are you?”, he inquired.
“I lost my husband”, she responded calmly.
“Oh”, he said, “I’m sure you’ll find him in a few minutes.”

Anyway, here’s the next best thing to Kaye himself singing the “Coconuts” song in Swedish.
Shy Guy Said:
Did he go out in the woods alone?
honeybee Said:
A lost Jew, who wound up being ambassador for UNICEF, when UNICEF still wasn’t such a dirty word.
@ mar55:
My Dad was fond of my Swedish Grandparents [ they and their community were not like the Swedes of today] and he that song “Lovely Bunch of Coconut in Swedish. It was so funny I rolled on the floor with laughter. Danny Kaye was such a sweet man, never a mean or dirty word from his mouth.
@ CuriousAmerican:
That is not our schtick. ‘Rescusing someone who is unjustly sentenced to death’ is not the same as stealing a soul. That’s your bag!

No argument from me. I was ethnically cleansed by the IDF representing the Israeli government. You didn’t object when I and other Jews were ethnically cleansed so why should your Oh so deep obsession with the diaper heads being ethnically cleansed illicit anything more than a yawn from us here when reading your accusations against us. We have acknowledged some ethnic cleansing by the IDF officially and unofficially but then so what? Your concern for our moral purity with regards to our treatment of Arabs is quite hypocritical when you are silent about Jews being ethnically cleansed by both Arabs and Jews and historically by every christian nation in Europe.
The whole concept of ethnic cleansing and it’s place near the top of christian /wester civilizatio’s moral sins is a relatively recent term seldom used contextually.
Sometimes ethnic cleansing or population transfers or separating antagonistic peoples and tribes is the best and most moral action available. Saves lives in the present and future. Then it becomes the most moral and humane action. Payment? Not my dime maybe because i don’t care how they leave front door or back head first or feet first as long as they go. South America being far away sounds nice but I would be satisfied if they moved 10-20 miles from where they now sit. Arab countries will not agree? Then we won’t ask for their permission. We will be condemned in any even so who cares How they leave, you do I don’t. I have a small say in the matter and you have none.
CuriousAmerican Said:
What is clear is that these christians hate Jews more thn they love your Arab Palis.
Nothing new here is there?
A Web site initiated for the purpose of exposing and condemning your fellow christian animus towards the Jews and Israel by a staunchly believing christian advocate and believer might have more of an impact than your email. I would support you in such an effort.
Some videos of the event.

I am not like you Yamit. I actually believe there was some ethnic cleansing done by the IDF. I do not believe the narrative of either side. Had the Muslims won, it would have been worse.
I just do not think the Palestinian Right of Return is going to happen, and I do not get concerned about it.
I advocate South America, instead.
I wrote them an email
====
Instead of sponsoring events about a Palestinian Right of Return
why not sponsor Palestinian immigration to South America where
the Latins have an excellent history of assimilating and
converting Arabs to Christianity.
The Arabs are elite in South America. You would be helping them.
====
I know you hate Christianity more than Islam, Yamit.
I do not care.
They would be better using that money to sponsor Palestinians to Chile and Argentina, where they can be resettled and converted. Yes, Yamit. Steal some Muslim souls.
Nobody listens to me.
I am going to have to write them an email.
Wait it is sponsored by the Rosa Luxemborg foundation. Rosa Luxemborg was a German Communist.
Why Are Christians Funding Efforts to Erase Israel?
Yitzhak Santis September 29, 2013 The Times of Israel

An international consortium of Catholic and Protestant aid societies is funding a conference this week in Tel Aviv called “From Truth to Redress: Realizing the Return of Palestinian Refugees.” The event is organized by Zochrot, a fringe Israeli group that has no constituency in Israel. Insisting on a “right of return” for 1948 Palestinian refugees and their millions of descendants amounts to a call for the elimination of Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people.
The conference has no other Israeli sponsors, and “is made possible thanks to the generous support of: Misereor, Christian Aid, CCFD, Finn Church Aid, HEKS-EPER, Broederlijk Delen, AFSC, Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Mennonite Central Committee, Trócaire, St. Het Solidariteitsfonds, Oxfam GB and private donors.” These mostly Christian sponsors are themselves funded by European governments that officially support the two-state solution. The conference, then, undermines these governments’ own policies.
Hillel CEO tells Swarthmore it must abide by Israel guidelines to use umbrella’s name
(JNS.org) Eric Fingerhut, president and CEO of Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life, wrote a letter to Hillel’s Swarthmore College chapter criticizing the decision by its student board to disavow the Jewish campus umbrella’s guidelines forbidding engagement with groups or speakers that “delegitimize, demonize or apply a double standard to Israel.”
“I hope you will inform your colleagues on the Student Board of Swarthmore Hillel that Hillel International expects all campus organizations that use the Hillel name to adhere to these guidelines. No organization that uses the Hillel name may choose to do otherwise,” Fingerhut wrote.
Fingerhut had told JNS.org last month, “There’s no question that Hillel loves Israel, Hillel is a pro-Israel organization, Hillel is about building Jewish identity… and at the core of Jewish identity is that Israel is the home of the Jewish people.”
The student board resolution, passed Sunday, said Swarthmore Hillel would “host and partner with any speaker at the discretion of the board, regardless of Hillel International’s Israel guidelines.” Swarthmore Hillel is aligning itself with the relatively new movement called “Open Hillel,” which calls for “inclusivity and open discourse at campus Hillels,” the Forward reported.
A report by NGO Monitor has shown a close relationship between the “Open Hillel” movement and Jewish Voice for Peace, a group that openly supports the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel.
“Open Hillel has become a willing participant in the strategic effort by anti-Israel activists to split Jews over Israel. It is the old stratagem of divide and conquer,” said Yitzhak Santis, NGO Monitor’s chief programs officer.

The BDS gets a lot of support, financial and morale, from the main stream protestant “replacement” theology(supercessionist) churches. A successful Israel where the land blooms for the real Jews and not for the christian “replacement jews” contradicts the ideology they tout; bad for sales.
If this doesn’t prove the BDS movement is motivated by pure Jew-hatred, I don’t know what does.
