First Jordan, then Egypt: Xi Jinping’s search for a new MO in the Middle East

Peloni: SIGNAL’s Carice Witte offers an interesting look at China’s attempts to deal with the dichotomy which exists between Beijing’s dependency which comes from being the dominant trading partner in the Middle East without the means by which to either control its erstwhile partners or the ability to dominate the region militarily.  It appears that instead of looking to its old partners in the region, China is instead attempting to engage a new strategy thru interactions with Egypt and Jordan.
