Teaching Gaza to Five-Year-Olds

As I was writing my Substack for the 25th commemoration of the September 11 attacks, I came across a document that was impossible to unsee and far too extensive to cover in a single article. So over the next two weeks, I will bring you everything I found in four parts. CAIR has officially finished testing its school-infiltration model in New Jersey. Now it is taking that model nationwide.

The document is CAIR’s national Back to School Resource Guide for 2026–2027, a sixteen-page manual intended to influence American K–12 schools. Although parts of it address Muslim students and families, its planned classroom topics and guidance are directed at educators and classrooms containing children of every background.

It covers religious accommodations, prayer, dress codes, dietary restrictions, bullying, student activism, access to school records, September 11, Palestinian advocacy, and classroom discussions about Gaza. It also provides ready-to-send letters for parents to use when demanding accommodations from schools.

Before going any further, one detail matters. CAIR removed the original guide, revised it, and uploaded the version examined here. In other words, everything that follows survived CAIR’s second look.

Although the entire document made my blood boil, one section demanded to be addressed first: “Talking to Young Children About Gaza.” That is where this series begins.

The section is not limited to parents whose children have raised questions at home. CAIR explicitly directs the material to both parents and educators, including situations in which “lesson plans address this topic.”

According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, children approximately five to twelve years old are old enough to begin discussing Gaza.
