The Russians are obviously allied with the Syrians, Iran, Hizbullah, Iran (and by proxy, with the PKK).

The “Islamic Terrorists” are, as this video explains, anti-Assad forces backed by Turkey.

The US is, so far, not directly involved; but Israel is, by proxy, at war with Iran and Hizbullah and therefore against the Russians (and by proxy, allied with Ukraine against Russia, Iran and Syria (Assad).

In the Ukrainian conflict, Turkey has opposed Russia by blocking the Russian; Black Sea fleet; and Iran is directly allied with Russia and supplying them with drones.

This latest outbreak of fighting is, effectively, an escalation of both the Israel-Iran conflict and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

  2. Absolutely Wild. The English political philosopher Thomas Hobbes , seventeenth century, wrote that in the absense of a strong central government to maintain ordre and resolve diputes, human existence was a “war of all against all.” Syria today seems to be a classic example of a “Hobbesian” world.
