Letters By Pablo Nankin:Barack Obama, Abdul El-Sayed, and Jewish Concerns

By Pablo Nankin, M.D.

The controversy surrounding Barack Obama’s former pastor, Jeremiah Wright, in 2008 raised serious questions about judgment and associations. Wright made inflammatory statements and praised Louis Farrakhan, whose antisemitic views are well documented. Obama later condemned Farrakhan’s antisemitism and distanced himself from Wright.

Today, Obama’s support for Abdul El-Sayed, a Michigan Senate candidate whose positions on Israel have concerned some Jewish Americans, raises renewed questions. What message does this endorsement send to Jewish voters at a time when antisemitism is a growing concern?

This is not about questioning anyone’s identity or assigning motives without evidence. It is about judgment and the responsibility of political leaders to consider the messages their endorsements convey.

We must not allow the lessons of 2008 to fade from public memory. Leaders should be judged by their choices and the consequences those choices may have.

Going as far back as my article of 2008, the thoughts I had about Obama then are the same that I have even today. This includes my comment about his Christian mentor Pastor Wright who in fact was and still is an outright antisemite. At that time, Obama attempted to justify his mentor by stating that he was not present when Wright committed his antisemitic rantings. 12 years later, Obama writes a book in which he relates about how wrong we are about this man, thus pointing out again to us his own dishonesty.

These distorted pamphlet/book indicates to us his lack of understanding of the Middle East, the creation of the State of Israel as of 1947 under the auspices of the United Nations/ League of Nations and his hatred for Israel, especially as he has been useless to the area. He has no idea of the sequence of the peace process like the Balfour Declaration, the San Remo Conference, the Camp David Accord, etc.

Most important of all, his book is an incitement to more antisemitism and many Democrats are loving it.

Remember Biden was aware of all this as his vice-president.

Do any of these Democratic Jews have remorse over their sheep following of the Democratic party after hearing Obama’s latest speech or do they remain skeptical?

Democratic Jews appear to have such blinded allegiance to their “party” that they even refuse to change party allegiance even when the candidate’s intentions oppose fundamental moral ethics and their own
religious beliefs.

Following Obama’s bashing of Israel, the trendy Reform Jews and Rabbis and now ADL, have decided that going along with anti-Israel groups called J Street, Peace Now, and many others will be better for Israel; this is ridiculous and outrageous!

To force Israel to “make peace” with the people of Gaza or the West Bankers is really to guide them towards their own self-destruction. The mission of these Israeli neighbors is to destroy Israel, and Obama’s agenda is the same under his premise of peace.

Let us hope that the 83% of Jews who voted for Obama in 2008 will not repeat their mistake in the next election, unless, of course, their goal is to collapse the State of Israel altogether.

Obama removed Egypt’s president, who was a friend of Israel. However, he has done nothing to Assad, a murderer of his own people, after all, Assad opposes Israel and therefore no reason be rid of his regime.

It is crucial that come 2012, Democratic Jews consider the candidate they vote for rather than only consider their party allegiance.

If only the Jews in New York or California would have voted for McCain, Obama would never have won and Israel would not be in this terrible compromised position.

Imagine what will be if the American Jews remaining so content living here, that they do not consider what can happen if the State of Israel collapses while Muslim radicals dominate. Does anyone really believe that Hamas and Fatah truly only want a Palestinian State? Have we not seen and heard enough of their desire to have the entire State of Israel for themselves?

I truly feel embarrassed that my fellow Jews can be so ignorant and self-consumed that they don’t see beyond
their blind faith in their party.

Rather than consider the endless ways the State of Israel is so important and support a candidate who acknowledges and appreciates this, they chose a candidate based on the simple fact that he or she belongs to their “party”. Let’s hope that for the sake of our future, these Democratic Jews do not repeat the same dangerous mistake again.

Thankfully we can count on such figures as Pastor Hagee, Glenn Beck and many millions of good Christians and other non-Jews who have proven to be better friends and more beneficial to Israel than Jews like those belonging to groups such as J Street, etc.

For the sake of Israel and for the sake of all Jews, including yourselves, liberal Jews, wake up and do the right thing!
