The Democrats managed to launch the pantomime horse of their nominees into the election campaign after a strained farce of a virtual convention. It is an ambitious exercise. An election platform, no major components of which could possibly receive the support of a majority of Americans, is fronted by an apparently inoffensive presidential candidate and an ostensibly presentable running mate. And the sleight-of-hand of making these two the standard-bearers of a radical socialist and authoritarian program was covered by a diversionary crescendo of Trump-hate.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday the United States would continue to ensure that Israel enjoyed a military edge in the Middle East under any future US arms deals with the United Arab Emirates.

“The United States has a legal requirement with respect to qualitative military edge. We will continue to honor that,” Pompeo told reporters after a meeting in Jerusalem with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

T. Belman. The interviewer kept asking Horowitz to define Communism. I had trouble with the answers given by Horowitz. He could have explained himself better. Basically the interviewer defines Communism as an economic system and Horowitz kept his focus on it being a totalitarian system where there are no freedoms. The interviewer tried to argue that everything the Democrats do is tactical and that’s OK. What ever gets them votes is legitimate. To be fair to Horowitz, he did deal with the policies of the Democrats in which they bankrupt the country with their new Green Deal, their pandemic and destruction of many cities.

For a generation after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, most Americans and Europeans regarded Marxism as an enemy that had been defeated once and for all. But they were wrong. A mere 30 years later, Marxism is back, and making an astonishingly successful bid to seize control of the most important American media companies, universities and schools, major corporations and philanthropic organizations, and even the courts, the government bureaucracy, and some churches. As American cities succumb to rioting, arson, and looting, it appears as though the liberal custodians of many of these institutions—from the New York Times to Princeton University—have despaired of regaining control of them, and are instead adopting a policy of accommodation. That is, they are attempting to appease their Marxist employees by giving in to some of their demands in the hope of not being swept away entirely.

T. Belman. Jasser is very knowledgeable and very well spoken. He has dedicated his life to reforming Islam, so far with little success. I met him in Washington 12 years ago and have followed him to some degree since. His proposition is that Islam must be reformed from within by the moderate Muslims of whom he is one. I recommended at the time and still believe that what is needed is an organization like CAIR made up of reformers and funded by moderate MuslIms with help from the US government. The US government should cancel CAIR and look to Jasser’s movement to represent Muslims at all government functions. As we know, J=Street was started to steal the thunder of AIPAC and it has done just that. Bottom line is that we need an alternate CAIR and CAIR must be cancelled.

The models arrived first. Boats carrying some 150 women, from Brazil, Russia and elsewhere, docked in the summer of 2015 at Velaa Private Island, an opulent Maldives resort. Upon arrival, each woman was driven in a golf cart to a clinic, tested for sexually transmitted diseases and settled into a private villa.

The women were due to spend the better part of a month with their hosts, several dozen friends of Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for a party marking his ascent. A 29-year-old prince with a taste for opulence, a hunger for money and a need for power found himself with an abundance of all three.

While the normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is real cause for joy, and the historic missed opportunity to apply sovereignty in Judea and Samaria is a serious disappointment, what is taking place on the ground on Netanyahu’s watch when it comes to promoting and preserving the settlements, is mostly a source of deep sadness. In truth, it’s nothing less than a scandal.

In the past few years, the Palestinians have been spreading out in Area C, which is officially under Israeli defense and security as well as civil control. They are on the offensive and are working in an orderly and consistent, not to mention well-funded, manner. Hundreds of thousands of dunams of state land or land that is currently in the process of being registered have been grabbed and turned into farmland. The Palestinians are also building tens of thousands of homes at the most strategic points, which will ultimately decide the battle for Area C. In the past decade, the number of illegally-built Palestinian structures has risen from about 30,000 to 50,000.

The United States was further isolated on Friday over its bid to reimpose international sanctions on Iran with 13 countries on the 15-member UN Security Council expressing their opposition, arguing that Washington’s move is void given it is using a process agreed under a nuclear deal that it quit two years ago.

In the 24 hours since U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he triggered a 30-day countdown to a return of UN sanctions on Iran, including an arms embargo, long-time allies Britain, France, Germany and Belgium as well as China, Russia, Vietnam, Niger, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, South Africa, Indonesia, Estonia and Tunisia have already written letters in opposition, seen by Reuters.
