Great swaths of the population are becoming, or more accurately have already become totally alienated from the political, economic and social structures of the societies to which they belong. As we noted in the Bloomberg poll a few days ago (they were first – and we could tell something was up), the pollsters are shifting their methodology. Almost every poll release in the past 72 hours has been using “Likely Voters” instead of “Registered Voters“.

When Donald Trump first proposed a temporary ban on Muslim immigration, many argued that we must prevent ISIS terrorists from entering the county, as a security measure.  I thought that we must ban them as a national threat and I didn’t mean a terrorist threat. Trump when expanding on his idea he went on to argue that any person permitted to immigrate must show allegiance to America and its constitution and must like us. He called for “extreme vetting”. Muslims who want to support sharia law and avoid assimilation must be excluded. That makes me Islamophobic and thus a deplorable. I will wear that label proudly.

This week marked the fifteenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on America. Most of us didn’t realize it at the time, but those attacks also marked the beginning of the end of the golden age of American Jewry – on both sides of the ideological divide.

Most American Jews make their home on the political Left, and together with black Americans they comprise the most loyal Democratic voting bloc. American Jews have clung to the Democratic Party despite the fact that over the past decade and a half, their position in the party has become increasingly precarious.

After the September 11 attacks, the American anti-war movement rose as a force in the party. The movement was quick to conflate its anti-Americanism with hostility for Israel. Jewish anti-war activists were forced to choose between Zionism and pacifism.

Donald Trump is coming under a lot of fire for speaking with apparent admiration of Vladimir Putin.  Trump’s seeming affinity for a KGB thug with a trail of bodies in his wake is understandably troubling for many.

But there’s certainly one fellow who would have no room to criticize, if it occurred to him to do so.  That fellow is John Kerry.

Since at least early summer, Kerry has been working on a deal with the Russians in Syria that would so effectively hobble U.S. activities there that we would be of little use even to the Russians and Assad, much less to ourselves.

On my most recent trip to Saudi Arabia, I was greeted with a startling confession. In the past, when we raised the issue of funding Islamic extremists with the Saudis, all we got were denials. This time, in the course of meetings with King Salman, Crown Prince Nayef, Deputy Crown Mohammad Bin Salman and several ministers, one top Saudi official admitted to me, “We misled you.” He explained that Saudi support for Islamic extremism started in the early 1960s as a counter to Nasserism—the socialist political ideology that came out of the thinking of Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser—which threatened Saudi Arabia and led to war between the two countries along the Yemen border. This tactic allowed them to successfully contain Nasserism, and the Saudis concluded that Islamism could be a powerful tool with broader utility.

David Friedman claims Trump not ‘for or against per say a two-state solution,’ but will leave it up to the Israelis

Donald Trump will not propose a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict if elected US president this November, a senior adviser to the Republican presidential nominee said Wednesday on Israeli television.

But Trump will back Israel in any path it chooses, said David Friedman who advises Trump on Israel-American affairs.

“He is not for or against per say a two-state solution,” Friedman told Channel 10 on Wednesday.

A rare well preserved rare coin in struck in 56-57 CE, bearing the image of Roman Emperor Nero, was found by archeologists from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte during a recent excavation on Jerusalem’s Mount Zion, just outside the Old City, it was announced Wednesday.

Described as an “emperor, theater actor, poet,” Nero, a flamboyant ruler who took the throne at age 17, was perhaps best known for killing his mother, who married his great uncle Claudius.
