Insight The Killers of the AMIA Still Walk Free

Peloni:  When nations fail to oppose terror, the threat will grow ever greater.  It is time to end the threat from Iran, well past time actually.

Emanuele Ottolenghi July 18, 2024

On July 18, 1994, at 9:53 am, a Hezbollah suicide bomber, Ibrahim Berro, drove a car laden with explosives in front of the AMIA, the Jewish cultural center in Buenos Aires, and pressed the detonator, ripping the edifice apart, killing 85 people and wounding more than 200. The regime in Iran ordered the terror attack, and Hezbollah, Tehran’s proxy in Lebanon, took it upon itself to execute it.

Today, Argentina marked the 30th anniversary of the AMIA bombing. All the perpetrators are still alive, except for Berro and Hezbollah’s senior commander, Imad Moughniyeh, who died in a car bombing in Damascus in 2008. The wily paymasters in Tehran who ordered the attack will no doubt continue to shield from justice the handful of their senior colleagues hit by international arrest warrants and Interpol red notices.

The Mirror

Peloni: Some striking observations regarding Vance.

Sundance | July, 19, 2024

Abandoned by his father to a troubled single mother; eventually raised by grandparents. He is then recruited from an Ivy league law school by shadow figures, a specific billionaire and a network of interests. He changes his name, writes a book about his life story, and with the support of the aforementioned – who eventually pays for the assembly of a strategic campaign influence network, becomes a Senator for 2 years before being quickly elevated into position in the White House.

Many people reading that paragraph would be familiar with the life story of Barack Hussien Obama. However, that paragraph also explains the right-side version of the exact same storyline, James David Vance. It’s a mirror.

Muslim countries continue to refuse Palestinian refugees. Beware of the real intent.

Peloni:  It is the intent of the international community that Israel should be forced to choke on the Pal cleft which has been held fast on Israeli lands to fester and grow over the decades, while being fed a steady diet of Jew-hatred by the very same United Nations which falsely claims to be committed towards world peace, but which has acted routinely since its creation to foster and support antisemitism with unabashed aplomb.

By | July 18, 2024

I stated in October that the prominent members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will continue to put on a show of unity for the West and make a display of caring for their Palestinian Muslim brothers. But Islamic countries are not taking in Palestinian refugees. That’s because their deeper commitment and unity lies in a collective hatred of Israel and the West, and the desire to establish a global caliphate.

Who is J.D. Vance?

Leo Hohmann | July 17, 2024

J.D. Vance is going to deliver the keynote speech at tonight’s RNC.

He’s an unlikely pick for Trump’s vice president given his history as a “never Trumper.”

But who is the man behind the public persona that is Ohio Senator J.D. Vance?

By all accounts, his personal life appears stellar. A family man, a recent convert to Catholicism. All good.

But what about his business ties?

Ukraine Loses Battle for Krynky, a Small Village on Eastern Side of Dnipro River

Peloni:  Ukraine has finally lost its long coveted foothold on the Russian side of the Dnipro River.  I called for Ukraine to give up this beachhead some time ago.  This forward salient held no benefit for Ukraine if they could not effect a march on the sea, so to speak, and drive the Russians back.  Rather than achieving this objective or anything close to it, the foothold at Krynky provided Ukraine nothing more than a propaganda boast at the cost of too many of her men.   The process of attrition which led to the collapse of Avdiika and the slow retreat which followed should have been evidence enough to all, their supporters and detractors alike, that Krynky held no possible benefit for Ukraine, even as it provided Russia with the means to mount significant casualties on those Ukrainians unfortunate enough to be posted there, something of a metaphor for the war in general I would argue.

Sundance | July 18, 2024

The Dnipro River essentially forms the boundary between Russian controlled territory and Ukraine.  Everything East of the river is controlled by Russia, while everything west is controlled by Ukraine.  This status is essentially the underpinning of the visible stalemate.

By most generally accepted accounts, the Russians have carved out the buffer zone they initially wanted. Russia is essentially no longer trying to take any more ground in Ukraine and in many places, they have begun rebuilding towns. That’s what it looks like on the ground.

Greatest Misinformation Campaign Since Russia Hoax’: Project 2025[1]

Wednesday, July 17, 2024

Guest Editorial: Elizabeth Mitchell

Left-wing smears of  Project 2025 constitute “probably the greatest misinformation campaign since the Russia hoax,” the head of the initiative for the next conservative president said Monday at The Heritage Foundation’s Policy Fest at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Is Informational Asymmetry a Market Failure?

Lemons absolutely exist, but so does Carfax.

Walter E. Block | July 17, 2024

We all seek an end to fraud. Aside from being inherently wrong, this type of crime also undermines the economy. Yes, mutual gains from fraudulent transactions can still be made ex ante (looking ahead). This is so for all commercial interaction, without exception. Each side, even in fraudulent interactions, expects to gain in utility from the purchase or sale or rental or borrowing or lending, etc. However, fraud plays havoc with utility ex post (after the fact). Only one side can gain; the other is the clear loser. All men of good will must necessarily oppose fraud, as it is in opposition to human flourishing.

The Attempted Assassination — Part 2

John Droz jr. | July 17, 2024

This is a good time for some critical thinking

By now there are likely a thousand articles written about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. For those who missed it, this was my initial commentary — and it still remains rather original in tone and perspective. Many of the others are quite good and I cited several examples as references (see the end of my prior post).

One that deserves special attention is the commentary by Dr. Robert Malone. Although it is too long and covers too many topics, the gist of it is important: it discusses evil. We tend to think of evil people as those who have corrupted standards (immorality, greed, etc.). Also, Thomas Crooks doesn’t really look like an evil person…

Israel Update: The Consequences of the Attempt on Trump’s Life

Peloni: Mike and Gadi discuss the fallout surrounding the assassination attempt against Trump, as well as the threats which are continuously being made against Bibi.  Mike explains that Trump’s image of strength following this event, will serve to strengthen both Israel and Bibi as a result.  Gadi and Mike also discuss the consequence of Deif’s possible death, and the power struggle between Sinwar and the Hamas leadership in Doha.  At the end of the program, Mike explains that it is important to grasp the fact that the military leadership is cognizant of the extent of US manipulation on Israel’s military capabilities, and challenges his detractors to wait for proof that the true motivation of the military elites to act as Gallant is now acting is based on political interests rather than military stratagems.

J.D. Vance on a Foreign Policy for the Middle Class

Peloni:  This foreign policy speech by Vance, delivered before the Quincy Institute, provides an important insight into Vance’s world view.  Notably, the speech was just under 30 min. in length, and Vance explains that it is not intended to provide an encompassing description of his views, but he does discuss what he describers as two important topics, and while the first topic is China, the second topic is Israel.
