The Solution to the Chevron Crisis is Less Government

Peloni:  Greenfield is quite correct in his analysis here, especially about the interest which some on the Right have come to develop in using a expansive govt to implement their own agendas.  Whether it is for the policies on the Right or those on the Left, bigger govt is never the answer, but always results in creating greater problems.  Less govt restores power to the people, and that should be the guideline of reason and liberty, as well as those on the Right.

Daniel Greenfield | June 30, 2024

The Supreme Court’s decision striking down Chevron Deference has set off Democrat hysteria, but as I warned in my post on it, Republicans will soon miss it once they take office and every federal agency gets sued.

Chevron Deference abusively allowed federal agencies to interpret the laws they implement. The argument though was that the alternative was having judges settle every dispute. And while Chevron Deference rarely favored conservative agendas (but then again how often do federal agencies implement conservative policies), federal judges are at best a mixed bag. Without judges deferring to the agency position, judges will come away with even more power. That’s an argument Justice Elena Kagan ironically made in her dissent.

But the underlying problem, as is often the case in political battles between branches of the government, is the government. We have far too much of it. Federal agencies have been given vast powers over everyone. So has the judiciary. The ultimate solution has to be less power, not more of it.

Jeffrey Sachs on Ukraine & NATO

Peloni:  The US has a great deal for which to answer in Ukraine, and across Europe and the Middle East as well.  The ventures of such ill considered operations to enrich the American oligarchs as are described by Sachs, lack support of the American people.  In fact, the slaughters resulting from the unrestrained nature of the Neocons led in no small part to the burgeoning anti-Neocon coalition known as MAGA, which has become the dominant political faction in the US for over the past decade.  It is time to end the madness which has left Ukraine with a fraction of its territory and only a fraction of its population intact in that territory.  This war must end, and it would be quite an easy task to accomplish, as we will see when Trump hopefully becomes President elect in November.

The Hezbollah Time Bomb Is Ticking

by David Daoud and Jonathan Schanzer June 20, 2024

Let’s not mince words: The Middle East is on the precipice of the most destructive war of the region’s modern history.

This war did not begin on October 7. It actually began one day later, when Hezbollah, the most powerful proxy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, began attacking Israel. The Israelis, already on their back foot from the Hamas assault in the south of their country, struggled to gain equilibrium.

The Israeli Defense Forces began with proportional responses to Hezbollah’s unprovoked attacks. But when that failed to deter the Lebanese terror group, the IDF steadily stepped up its retaliatory strikes. This, too, has done little. Hezbollah has lost more than 300 of its senior Radwan Forces along the border. An estimated 91,000 Lebanese citizens have been forced to evacuate from southern Lebanon. Yet, Hezbollah continues to fire at Israel.

Can contemporary international law cope with today’s terror?

There is a need to adapt the rules to the conflict scenarios of today’s world.

By ALAN BAKER

The war between Israel, Hamas and other terror organizations has heightened the awareness of the question of whether today’s international law is capable of addressing armed conflict between a state and terror organizations.

Simply put, the question is how a sovereign state, obligated by the customary and conventional rules of international humanitarian law and the laws of armed conflict, is expected to engage in asymmetrical war with terror organizations that distinctly, and by definition, do not consider themselves as bound by such rules. The international community lacks practical and legal means, as well as the basic desire and capability, to oblige such terror groups to abide by the rules.

Israel-Hezbollah War Looms

While Lebanon sues over allegations of Iranian weapons stored at Beirut airport.

According to the Telegraph, “whistleblowers” at the Beirut International Airport stated that “they were concerned about increasing weapons supplies arriving on direct flights from Iran.” The Lebanese Air Transport Association swiftly denied the claims and is now suing: “Lebanon to sue The Telegraph over allegations of Iranian weapons at Beirut airport stored by Hezbollah,” by Naim Berjawi, Anadolu News Agency, June 24, 2024:

Lebanon has said it will file a lawsuit against the British daily The Telegraph over an article alleging the presence of Iranian weapons and missiles at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport stored by the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Iran’s multi-front war on Israel has diminishing returns

Iran is operationalizing multiple fronts against Israel. In some areas, the groups claim success; in others, it is unclear if the claims match reality.

Seth Frantzman | June 26, 2024

Iranian proxies, including the Houthis, Iraqi militias, and Hezbollah carried out attacks targeting Israel and Israel-linked targets on June 24-25. However, the attacks are no longer a surprise. In some cases, the proxies have had some successes. However, their successes may have diminishing returns because Iran is now using all these groups to attack, but Iran cannot shift the equation against Israel.

Let’s take a look at what happened. The Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, which are called the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, said on Wednesday that they “attacked a vital Israeli target in the Port of Eilat with several drones.” The militias claimed that they were supporting Hamas in Gaza. “The Iraqi resistance fighters targeted the military air base of the Israeli regime in Eilat with a drone,” the statement from the group reads. They sent the statement to Iran’s state media, IRNA.

Schumer’s Jewish Support Crashed After Attacking Israel

Peloni: The Overton Window is shifting, leaving Schumer and his anti-Israel, Democratic-cronyist agenda outside of view.

Poll also shows 46% of New York Jews would vote for Trump.

Daniel Greenfield | June 28, 2028

Two years ago, Senator Chuck Schumer enjoyed an 82% approval among New York Jews. In contrast to the 40% unfavorable rating among New Yorkers, only 18% of Jews disapproved.

Now he’s tied as 45% of New York Jews have come to hate Chuck.

What happened in the last two years to send his approval rating crashing from 82% to 48%?

Must the virtuous state accept barbarism as its sine qua non to “stay alive”?

If someone comes to kill yourise and kill him first

By Prof Lois Rene Beres

Though the most evident source of human governance is power, true power can never stem from war-making stratagems or capacities. In principle, at least, consummate power on planet earth is immortality, but such power is intangible and must be based on faith rather than science. All things considered, the promise of “power over death” holds primary importance in world politics. This is especially the case in the jihadist Middle East.

There are relevant particulars. The consequences of this sort of thinking represent a lethal triumph of anti-Reason over Reason. Such triumph, in turn, expresses the continuing supremacy of primal human satisfactions in war, terrorism and genocide. On this matter of world-historical urgency, scholars and policy-makers should consider the probing observation of Eugene Ionesco in his Journal (1966). Opting to describe killing in general as affirmation of an individual’s “power over death,” the Romanian playwright explains:

Iran’s Mullahs and  Shi’a Islamism

By: Amil Imani

The world is presently at its most wicked. It is beyond human help. It requires only a nudge to implode and prepare for the divine ruler, the Saheb-ul-Zaman (the Mahdi, the Lord of the Age), to come and set it aright. It is the sacred duty and privilege of every Muslim to do all he can to hasten the death of the old world and the birth of the global Islamic Ummah. Thus goes the thinking of Iran’s ruling mullahs and their handpicked presidents.

The old millennial thinking is a belief held in one version or another by major religions. Indeed, it is, with one terribly alarming difference. This time around, a group of believers with tremendous resources is intent on forcing the issue, making the conditions so dire that it leaves the reluctant Saheb-ul-Zaman no choice but to appear and assume his universal reign.

Chevron & the Deep State

TIERNEY REAL NEWS

The Supreme Court just struck down the Chevron Doctrine which has poisoned our country for almost 40 years. This is a MAJOR ruling. The people we elect to make the laws aren’t the ones who actually make the laws today – it’s done by unelected bureaucrats in the administrative state.

John McAfee – who allegedly committed suicide after making a video about the administrative state – called these “unelected bureaucrats” the “Deep State” – and I think he paid for that with his life. The “Deep State” basically reports to the NWO – the Globalist oligarchy that wants to strip America of her sovereignty and rule the world.

The Obama and Biden Administrations: Paving the Way for a Nuclear-Armed Iran

by Majid Rafizadeh, GATESTONE  •  June 29, 2024

America’s “diplomatic efforts,” instead of putting a stop to Iran’s nuclear program, have only resulted in a series of concessions that have empowered the Iranian regime. (Image source: iStock)

  • America’s “diplomatic efforts,” instead of putting a stop to Iran’s nuclear program, have only resulted in a series of concessions that have empowered the Iranian regime. The lack of stringent enforcement and verification measures, and especially lifting secondary sanctions — by which any country that does business with Iran is prohibited from doing business with America — have allowed Iran to accelerate its nuclear activities “under the radar.”

Why Won’t the US Help Negotiate a Peaceful End to the War in Ukraine?

For goodness’ sake, negotiate!

For the fifth time since 2008, Russia has proposed to negotiate with the U.S. over security arrangements, this time in proposals made by President Vladimir Putin on June 14, 2024. Four previous times, the U.S. rejected the offer of negotiations in favor of a neocon strategy to weaken or dismember Russia through war and covert operations. The U.S. neocon tactics have failed disastrously, devastating Ukraine in the process, and endangering the whole world. After all the warmongering, it’s time for Biden to open negotiations for peace with Russia.

Since the end of the Cold War, the U.S. grand strategy has been to weaken Russia. As early as 1992, then Defense Secretary Richard Cheney opined that following the 1991 demise of the Soviet Union, Russia too should be dismembered. Zbigniew Brzezinski opined in 1997 that Russia should be divided into three loosely confederated entities in Russian Europe, Siberia, and the far east. In 1999, the U.S.-led NATO alliance bombed Russia’s ally, Serbia, for 78 days in order to break Serbia apart and install a massive NATO military base in breakaway Kosovo. Leaders of the U.S. military-industrial complex vociferously supported the Chechen war against Russia in the early 2000s.

Would Trump re-establish peace through strength?

As should be clear by now, the alternative is war through weakness

By Clifford D. May, FDD Founder & President

Suppose Joe Biden wins reelection. Will he revise his approach to national security and foreign policy? He should, don’t you think?

He capitulated to the Taliban in Afghanistan in just about the most damaging way imaginable. He failed to deter Vladimir Putin from launching a war against Ukraine. He has vowed to defend Taiwan from the Chinese Communists but isn’t equipping the U.S. military for such a mission. He has enriched and empowered Iran’s rulers whose nuclear weapons program is rapidly advancing while their proxies attack commercial shipping in the Red Sea and wage a multifront war against Israel. Shall I go on?]

A Limited Hangout on Vaccine Harms

Peloni:  The cruel abandonment of those who have been affected by the bioweapon countermeasure masked as a vaccine has been one of the most terrible aspects of the Covid scam.  It has been four years and the media is still held fast in its complicity in shrouding the truth about the injuries arising following a shot of old ‘safe and effective’.  This compounding of psychological warfare upon those already dealing with the physical and financial hardship of this psyop is too terrible to believe, and yet we must do more than believe what we know to be true, as we must act upon it, demanding retribution for the ill, accountability for the complicit, and an end to the deployment of these toxic shots in any form or formulation, posthaste.

Well, it’s finally happened. The New York Times (NYT) has acknowledged COVID vaccine harms. In a major piece written by their top pandemic reporter, Apoorva Mandavilli, the paper has written […]

Jeffrey A. Tucker | June 27, 2024

Well, it’s finally happened.

The New York Times (NYT) has acknowledged COVID vaccine harms. In a major piece written by their top pandemic reporter, Apoorva Mandavilli, the paper has written of “thousands” the world over who have experienced when it is more like millions, according to many experts who have been yelling about this issue for years.

The thesis is not that the vaccine harmed people but really that people BELIEVE they have been harmed. It is their truth. We should listen, as they say in postmodern parlance.

Democrats Apoplectic at Horrible Biden Debate Performance – Calls for Immediate Replacement

Peloni:  All of a sudden it seems that the Dems are terribly concerned about the optics of Biden’s incapacity, as if there was never any sign of him being less than 100% prior to last night’s onstage debacle.  Gov. Newsom was prominently present last night in the post-debate followups as if to remind everyone that he is still available.  It will be interesting to see what face the Dems choose to put forward as the place saver for their Deep State apparatus, but we should not be deceived into believing that there is any difference between the two, as the American Deep State has been running things in America for a very very long time already, and it is their intent to continue doing so no matter who is chosen to ‘lead’ America.  The only opportunity to bring about a change to this continued Deep State autocracy will be the overwhelming electoral victory by President Trump…for the third time.

The Curtain of Pretending Has Fallen

Sundance | June 28

Across the broad political spectrum of leftists and professional democrats, the apoplexy is consistent.  Everyone is freaking out about how terrible Joe Biden did in the debate against President Trump.

The seeds of Biden’s betrayal of Israel were planted a long time ago

Biden’s rogue’s gallery of hacks, ideologues and jihad enablers.

By Robert Spencer, FPM

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen recently warned Israel against cutting off Palestinian banks and spoke about the need to increase aid to Gaza—that is, Hamas—even further. Yellen’s words gained little attention, as the Biden regime’s betrayal of Israel is now old news.

It is widely known that the regime, deeply afraid that it could lose Michigan in November, has brought a 70-year-old alliance perilously close to rupture to gain the Arab vote. Yet the betrayal of Israel didn’t begin when the polls started looking bad for Old Joe. The seeds of it were planted long before Hamas massacred 1,200 Israelis on Oct. 7.

Iran moves into Somalia

The Biden administration has allowed Iran to expand its terror territories, and that’s not just bad news for Israel, it’s also bad news for America and for the world.

Daniel Greenfield | June 27, 2024

After six months of using its Houthi jihadis to impose a blockade near Yemen while defying Biden to do anything about it, the Islamic global terror state is moving on to a Somali blockade.

Current reports suggest that the Houthis, an Iranian Shi’ite terror group, are negotiating to provide weapons to Yemen’s Al-Shabaab, a Sunni jihadist group allied with Al Qaeda, to expand Iran’s control over shipping. While Al-Shabaab has operated using the conventional Al Qaeda playbook of rifles and IEDs, the Houthis can offer upgraded drones and missile technology.
