Trump announces Board of Peace to govern Gaza, appoints himself chair and vows to reveal other members

Peloni:  We are 5 months now waiting for Trump to allow the ‘hard way’ to proceed as Hamas rearms and resupplies itself.  The concern that is being expressed for the Gazans should have pushed the ‘hard way’ forward one day after Hamas failed to do as they were obligated to do under the terms of the Trump plan.  The only one being leveraged to keep to the terms of that plan is Israel, and that is still true today as we are mysteriously in Phase 1 and 2 at the same time, as the head technocrat invents “Israeli violations” while ignoring the very real violations being daily exhibited by all parties other than Israel.  The technocrat has shown his true nature, but we will see more of it, much more no doubt.

Mudar Zahran on Iran

Peloni:  Mudar Zahran explains that the current strategy against Iran includes a preference for giving a chance for the Iranian regime to fall under the threat of force.  He also argues that sooner or later an attack on Iran will be needed and will be seen to come to fruition.  He also addresses the importance of, and associations with, Iran which have been enjoyed by ALL Arab regimes in the region with the notable exception of Assad’s Syria which fell in December ’22.  From the UAE to Saudi Arabia to Turkey to Qatar to Egypt, they are all opposed to the toppling of the regime in Iran because it would demonstrate a threat against their own relative regimes as well.

Syria’s Kurdish outreach masks plans for new offensive against SDF in Aleppo

Syria’s President Ahmad al-Sharaa “affirmed that the injustices witnessed in Syria during the decades of the deposed regime’s rule affected all segments of the Syrian population without exception.”

BySETH J. FRANTZMAN | JANUARY 15, 2026

Syria’s transitional government is trying to do outreach to Kurds as it appears to prepare a new offensive against the Syrian Democratic Forces.
The SDF is backed by the US and is composed mostly of Kurds, controlling eastern Syria.

Syrian security forces recently ejected Kurdish fighters from two neighborhoods in Aleppo, raising concerns about Damascus abusing the rights of Kurds. US officials, who back the new Syrian government, are concerned about attacks on the SDF.

“Election denial” was really hot 5 years ago. The ‘Election Denial’ moral panic led to mass censorship and claims that anyone denying an election result was a dangerous insurrectionist who needed to be locked up and posed a threat to democracy.

ISRAEL ON HIGHEST ALERT FOR IMMINENT & MASSIVE US ATTACK ON IRAN: I don’t buy reports Trump got ‘cold feet’ or Netanyahu urged him to postpone or cancel strike — here’s why

Peloni:  Did Trump really abandon the Iranian protestors after urging them into the streets where thousands were gunned down by the Mullahs?  I don’t believe this is likely.  Rather, I agree with the summation of this article, namely that a limited but significant strike raised against Iran will be the most likely outcome in Iran.  I don’t think Trump is looking for regime change, and I don’t think his attack will be the deciding factor in what successes might be made by the protests.  Time will tell of course.

Ben-Gvir Advances Hanging Method in Terrorist Death Penalty Bill

Peloni:  What goes unstated in this article is that the death penalty provides justice, irreversible by future acts of terror which have been used over the past 70 years to inevitably leverage the lives of Jew Ransomed innocents against the release of those who should never be released.  Let these butchers know that their sentence will be final, that they will have no hope of freedom, and that a final justice at the end of a noose will be the consequence of their barbarity.  Be not kind to the cruel so as to not be cruel to the kind.  Simply hang them.

Revised proposal seeks faster implementation and stronger deterrence as Israel confronts ongoing terror threats.

In a move that has ignited intense national debate, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir unveiled a revised version of Israel’s proposed death penalty for terrorists, announcing that hanging would replace lethal injection as the method of execution. The update was presented during a Knesset National Security Committee meeting and reflects growing determination within the coalition to push the legislation forward.

The Prime Minister’s blocking of the Sovereignty Law

Peloni:  As Likud moves to support Trump’s ban on Israeli sovereignty, who will pick up the banner supporting sovereignty, and will it result in material vote swings in the next election?

An historic missed opportunity that will cost at the ballot box.

Recent reports indicate that the Sovereignty Law, approved by the Knesset plenum two months ago, has been effectively blocked. Coalition Chairman Ofir Katz transferred the bill from the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee to the Knesset Committee, which he chairs- reportedly following instruction from the Prime Minister. The law is now frozen without debate or formal decision. This is not a minor procedural matter; it represents a significant national opportunity that has been lost, unless it is overturned.

Trump says Iran killing protesters ‘has stopped’ as numerous reports suggest US strikes expected in coming days

Peloni: As the world waits to see what will materialize from Trump’s promise to the Iranians that help was coming, the internet access in Iran continues to be jammed.  If there are no more killings, and Iran has control over the country, why is it that no one outside of the Iranian curtain of silence is allowed to confirm this so called fact.

Amid a flurry of reports suggesting that the broader Middle East is expecting U.S. strikes against the Iranian regime, U.S. President Donald Trump caused general confusion when he suggested that the regime’s bloody crackdown against the protesters had “stopped” on Wednesday evening.

Is Trump Backing Down? Or Something Else…

“President Trump is well aware that Tehran obliterated his red line like a nuclear site under a Beautiful B-2. He’s well aware how fragile the regime is right now. He’s well aware that Xi and Putin would look at this moment and wonder whether he got cold feet. So, we’ll see.”

From Israel: How Weary – Yet Strong – We Are!!

Arlene Kushner | January 13, 2026

The numbers of Iranian citizens who have been killed by the regime is horrifying. As communication coming out of Iran is erratic, it is impossible to confirm the statistics; from different sources I’m seeing somewhere between 6,000 and 20,000. Horrifying indeed.

US declares launch of Phase 2 of Gaza Peace Plan, incl ‘transitional technocratic Palestinian administration’

Peloni:  Why does every Red Line drawn by the US ultimately become a new line of negotiations after it is crossed.  Is victory the aim of the negotiations or is it actually the negotiations themselves that are the desired aim, so as to pretend that the outcome of the negotiations have not failed as the declared Red Lines are simply crossed over and new ones are chosen it their place.  Indeed, Phase 2 was to begin after the disarmament or destruction of Hamas as well as the complete return of the hostages.  Neither of these demands have been met, but US impatience has once again simply made new threats while ignoring past threats which failed to materialize, as if the new threats will be deemed more useful for anyone as Phase 2 is pushed forward with Phase 1 still incomplete in gross and significant ways.

White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on Wednesday announced the launch of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza in a post on ?.

“Today, on behalf of President Trump, we are announcing the launch of Phase Two of the President’s 20-Point Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, moving from ceasefire to demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction,” Witkoff declared.
