DEI’s demise will save public education

Division, excuses and incompetence

By Joseph R. Murray, WASHINGTON TIMES   Tuesday, April 23, 2024

DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) demise and public education illustration by Greg Groesch / The Washington Times

Last week, the University of Texas at Dallas made headlines when it shuttered its DEI-related jobs, offices and programs. The decision was not made because the university finally realized that people are complex individuals who cannot be pigeonholed into an identity but because Texas lawmakers, via SB 17, put such programs in the crosshairs.

DEI, which stands for diversity, equity and inclusion, is a mindset that all people of various backgrounds should feel welcome in their school or place of business. While the mindset sounds noble, the means by which its end is reached has caused many to claim DEI is arbitrary at best and racist at worst.

Oct. 7 and April 14: Watershed moments for Israel

Israel cannot accept a situation where it is diplomatically and militarily hampered in every direction by well-meaning but weak allies or by supremely confident Shiite mullahs and their Russian ally.

By  David M. Weinberg, ISRAEL HAYOM  04-21-2024 17:50

Reading the Israeli and global media one would think that this week Israel achieved its greatest victory since the Six-Day War, successfully stymying a massive Iranian missile attack. With dozens of videos and hagiographic pilot profiles, the IDF is busy pumping its technological prowess. In religious circles, there are a thousand memes and essays circulating asserting a divine miracle, no less.

This is poppycock. At best, Israel can record a defensive tactical achievement, perhaps indeed blessed, but not a strategic win. On the strategic level, Israel suffered a whopping loss as Iran pierced with apparent impunity American and Israeli deterrence frameworks.

Netanyahu: Hamas to face ‘painful blows’ in the coming days

“We will bring it [Hamas] more painful blows; it will happen soon,” said the Israeli premier.

Israel will inflict “painful blows” on Hamas in the coming days in an attempt to free the remaining 133 hostages held by the terrorist group in the Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday.

“Why is this night different, citizens of Israel? That on this night, 133 of our dear brothers and sisters are not at the seder table and are still held captive in the inferno of Hamas,” he said in his Passover remarks.

State Department Stabs Israel in the Back, Twists the Knife

Biden administration promotes Hamas propaganda by smearing Israel as a human rights abuser.

On Tuesday, the State Department published its 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. What should have been a non-political document completed the betrayal of Israel that the Biden administration began on March 25, when it refrained from having the U.S. veto a UN resolution calling for a Gaza ceasefire, the impact of which would enable the leadership of Hamas to survive and launch more attacks on Jews and Jewish babies. The clear meaning of the October 7 massacre was witnessed in Palestinians burning infants alive to cries of “Allahu Akbar” as though the incineration of the innocent – should they be Jews – is a holy sacrament rather than a sick episode in the wretched history of humanity’s inhumanity to its weakest members.

Contempt For Ordinary Voters Undermines Opposition To Trump

By Louis Markos, THE FEDERALIST    22 April 2024

A complaint I hear increasingly leveled at contemporary American politicians is that they are out of touch with voters, if not downright contemptuous of them. On a number of core issues, politicians seem less concerned with pursuing policies that are deeply unpopular with ordinary Americans than with upholding the ideologies and self-interests of the ruling elite. Two dramatic examples of this political disconnect with average citizens are the refusal of urban governments to prosecute violent criminals, which has caused a surge in crime, and the White House’s tolerance of mass immigration, which threatens jobs, security, and the rule of law.

The losers will lose everything

E. Rowell:  The Biden Administration is racing to register non-citizens to vote in massive numbers.  They are attempting to prevent Donald Trump from winning by four scandalous and absurd lawfare cases in which the process is the punishment.  They hope no one will vote for a man convicted of a crime.  They are attempting to create a democrat majority in the House of Representatives through “retirement” of RINOs in order to pass legislation that will make Trump “guilty” of “insurrection” and thus ineligible for the Presidency, should he win the electoral college vote.  They see Congress for the corrupt group that they are, stripping Americans of their right to representation by representing their billionaire donors not their constituents.  They have even talked of assassination of Trump.  The voters see all of this for what it is:  an evil, satanic effort to destroy the Republic and We the People.

Any political prediction for the remainder of 2024 must, to be taken seriously, account for one overbearing fact:  neither side can afford to lose.  For one side or the other, it will be game over.  Political power will thereafter be denied forever to the defeated party.

Israel Is Hamas’s Most Potent Weapon

By Ruth R. Wisse, COMMENTARY   21 April 2024

For 76 years, through combined military campaigns, sustained economic boycott, terrorist massacres, diplomatic isolation, and religious incitement, a changing constellation of pan-Arab and Islamist forces has been trying to destroy the Jewish state. So far they have failed. Israel fought off the bombardment from Iran and its proxies as it has the earlier assaults, thereby incidentally giving its friends and allies much to learn about new weaponry, tactics, and the pros and cons of moral restraint in battle.

Mohammed bin Salman’s Palestinian state conundrum

Amit Halevi, Washington Times    April 22, 2024

Saudi Arabia’s official stance on the concept of a Palestinian state has undergone a notable shift in recent weeks. Since the Abraham Accords, Saudi Arabia has portrayed such a state as a distant, nebulous objective, leaving the impression of mere lip service.

Mounting pressure from the White House and certain segments of Saudi society, however, has compelled it to formally endorse the recognition of a Palestinian state. This move aligns with plans outlined in the “Arab Vision” document of the Forum of 6 made up of Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the Palestinian Authority and Saudi Arabia itself.

Israeli F.A. Ministry: Review of UNRWA’s neutrality offers ‘cosmetic solutions’

Peloni:  UNWRA must be ended.  Its presence in Gaza and elsewhere has always been to foment a forever generational war against the Jewish people.  In fact, the continuation of UN support for this evil institution demonstrates the same level of pernicious intent against the Jewish people as did the establishment of that organization which was intended to specifically, and exclusively, extend the 1948 War into the future so as to overcome the Israeli victory over the Arabs.  The malicious weaponization of the Pals to this purpose demonstrates the extensively antisemitic nature of the UN in its singular approach to preserving and expanding and radicalizing the Pal refugee crisis.  UNRWA must be defunded, disbanded and deported, save for those members who are not charged for their relevant crimes against the Jewish people.  We no longer live in October 6, and it is time to deal honestly and effectively with the matters which made October 7 inevitable.  Notably, UNRWA, it should be noted, was just one of these matters.

“Hamas has infiltrated UNRWA so deeply that it is no longer possible to determine where UNRWA ends and where Hamas begins,” a ministry spokesman said.

In an incredible and rare admission, Fatah has corroborated what Israel has been saying all along: that Hamas is responsible for turmoil connected to the distribution of humanitarian aid sent into Gaza.

A Fatah TV anchor reported that throughout the war, Hamas has been committing what is essentially a triple crime — it has attacked and killed aid workers in order to control aid distribution, stolen the food and water for itself, and caused food prices to skyrocket. Read more…

Netzah Yehuda’s Achievements

30 Terrorists Killed, 100 Arrested, 450 Operations on 3 Fronts

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS    22 April 2024

Netzah Yehuda Battalion recruits and their families at a swearing-in ceremony at the Kotel, May 17, 2023.

This past year, the Netzah Yehuda battalion operated in three different sectors: in the north, Gaza, and Judea and Samaria––where most of its activities have been carried out over the years. About a month ago, following the IDF’s satisfaction with the fighters and as the battalion was moved up to the front in the Gaza Envelope, the commander of the ground forces decided to turn the battalion into a maneuvering combat unit for the first time.

As Breitbart News reportedciting Axios’ Barak Ravid, the Biden administration is set to announce sanctions on Netzach Yehudah (“Judea Forever”), a unit that includes ultra-Orthodox soldiers, who are exempt from the draft.

The sanctions relate to allegations from well before the war that began with the Hamas terror attack on October 7. Netzach Yehudah had since been relocated from the West Bank to the Golan Heights — and is now fighting in Gaza.

Israel: Terror Can Be Conquered Only With Greater Terror

By Alexander G. Markovsky, AMERICAN THINKER    22 April 2024

Image: Berlin in 1945/Public Domain

On October 7, 2023, the grisly gangs of Hamas terrorists launched a violent assault on Israel, indiscriminately raping and killing women and children, torturing its soldiers, and taking hostages. The sheer brutality of the attack stunned Israel. Despite Israel’s subsequent massive bombardment and ground invasion of Gaza, six months later, the Israeli-stated objectives of eradicating Hamas and releasing hostages remain as elusive as ever.
