A law-based opportunity for Israel to prevent Iranian nuclear weapons

This is not a moment for Israeli strategic thinking to become confused or shortsighted. Opinion.

By Prof. René Beres, INN    15 April 2024

Iran nuclear program

Though Iran describes its drone and missile attack on Israel as “retaliation,” it is actually an act of aggression. If Iran were an already-nuclear enemy state, Israel’s capacity for lawful self-defense would be glaringly limited. But as Iran is still pre-nuclear, the Iranian aggression could prove net-gainful for Israel. In essence, this Iranian crime offers Israel an eleventh hour opportunity to prevent enemy nuclearization. In formal legal terms, such opportunity falls under the heading of “anticipatory self-defense.”

What the hell is going on?

One-third of the Gazan casualties do not exist, Khamenei’s Zionist conspiracy theory about “a major flaw” in Western universities, Israel is being accused of “scholasticide,” and more.

By Joshua Hoffman, FUTURE OF JEWISH    14 April 2024

Editor’s Note: “What the hell is going on?” is a weekly series in which we bring you the most bizarre, outlandish, and surreal developments from around the Jewish world during the past week.

The Islamic Republic of Iran launched some 185 drones, 110 surface-to-surface missiles, and 36 cruise missiles at Israel on Saturday night — yet many in the mainstream media have dismissed the Iranian regime’s first-ever attack on Israel as “limited.”

Gaming The 2024 Campaign

E. Rowell:  The most consequential unknown variable in the race is how elections in the swing states will be handled.  If the swing states engage in and succeed in fraud, this election will be a repeat of 2020.  We know now there are an infinite number of ways that cheating occurred in 2020.  The Biden administration already has in place an army of federal employees involved in ballot harvesting, signing up illegal citizens to vote, signing up felons to vote, etc.

What really matters at this point is the political machine’s power to overwhelm the voice of the citizens.  Only this time the American people are not going to accept a second steal.

Will Biden’s feebleness still earn him sympathy? Or will it devolve to the point that the public concludes that Joe Biden would not be able to keep any job in America—except the U.S. Presidency?

By Victor Davis Hanson, AMERICAN GREATNESS    15 April 2024

Will Biden’s feebleness still earn him sympathy? Or will it devolve to the point that the public concludes that Joe Biden would not be able to keep any job in America—except the U.S. Presidency?

We have seen enough of the Biden-Trump race so far to predict what lies ahead over the next seven months of the campaign. Currently, the polls are about dead even. Trump, however, for now enjoys small leads in the majority of the fickle swing/purple states that will likely decide the election.

So here is what we should expect:

Michael Oren: How Did the War Begin? With Iran’s Appeasers in Washington

Historians will look back and wonder how the U.S. not only allowed Iran to repeatedly assault its citizens, soldiers, and allies—but rewarded it for doing so.

By Michael Oren, FREE PRESS April 14

JERUSALEM — Historians writing years from now about the Middle East conflagration of 2024 will undoubtedly ask, “When did it all begin?” Some will point to the Bush administration which, demoralized by its inconclusive wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, rejected Israel’s entreaties to take out Iran’s then-inchoate nuclear program in 2008.

Others might cite Israel’s willingness to play by the mullahs’ rules, retaliating against their Hezbollah and Hamas proxies rather than against Iran itself, enabling it to emerge from each round of fighting utterly unscathed.

Everything You Need to Know About Trump’s Trial This Week

Trump is headed to the first of his expected criminal trials on April 15. He’s facing felony counts related to his payments to Stephanie Clifford.

By Sam Dorman, EPOCH TIMES April 14/24

The first of former President Donald Trump’s criminal trials is set to begin on April 15 after New York prosecutors accused him of falsifying business records related to an alleged affair with adult performer Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels.

The trial is occurring on the heels of a $175 million bond payment the former president posted in a civil fraud lawsuit, also in New York.

Confrontation with Iran: Who Won?

The West likes its Jews passive, dependent, and weak. When American officials say “Israel has a right to defend [herself]” they mean that they will allow her, and even assist her, to ward off the blows of her enemies. But their “rock solid support” does not extend to Israel taking offensive actions. Israel is allowed passive defense, but not to take the war to our enemies. And don’t even think about preemption.

Insofar as Israel obeys her Western “allies,” she is placed at a great disadvantage for several reasons. The most obvious one is that an entirely passive defense does not deter enemies from attacking over and over again. Why shouldn’t they? They have nothing to lose. The opposite: they will learn valuable lessons from their failures, which they can apply to the next round. And everyone is encouraged to keep trying for the honor of being the one who finally broke the Jewish state.

After Iranian barrage, Palestinians brace for Israeli reaction

T. Belman. Politico is a democratic organ. Its bias is here for all to see. But the highted remark is why I posted it.

The escalation comes days after peace talks designed to end the war in Gaza.

BY GABRIEL GAVIN, POLITICO APRIL 14, 2024 7:03 PM CET

Even if Israel avoids all-out war with Iran after Saturday’s attack by Tehran, fears are growing among Palestinians that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will take advantage of the situation to invade the Gazan border city of Rafah.

The U.S. has been pressing Netanyahu to hold back in Rafah — sensing a potential humanitarian catastrophe in the city bordering Egypt where as many as 1.5 million people are sheltering — but the overnight assault is likely to harden the Israeli prime minister’s stance on crushing Iran-backed Hamas.

This Was Not Iran’s Actual Attack

By

This is not the actual Iranian attack.

This is the ‘attack’ prearranged for show between Iran and the Biden administration through backchannels.

It’s an attack that allows Iran to show off that it can reach Israel (look at those lights over the Temple Mount) without inflicting any real damage.

  • Our Israeli and Western military sources confirmed to us this morning, that American jets downed Iranian drones over Jordan’s capital, Amman and Zarqa, Jordan’s second largest city last night. Israeli jets shot down dozens of Iranian drones en route to Jordan at the borders with Iraq. The Israeli Force broke into the Iraqi air space to confront those. At the same time, US owned and operated ground-to-air defense capabilities were used last night.

Ben Cotton, an IT expert proficient in forensics and digital systems analysis, issued a declaration last month about flaws with Maricopa County’s voting machine tabulators. It was included in Kari Lake’s and Mark Finchem’s latest pleadings in their complaint challenging the use of voting machine tabulators in elections. One of those findings was that unauthorized executable programs were installed on the machines at least three times during the 2020 election, which could be used to alter election results without detection.

Invade Rafah Now!

The heroic Prime Minister Netanyahu has set a date for the invasion of Rafah. In doing so, he is cocking a snook against the Biden Administration of the US and against much of the rest of the world. If this is not courageous, nothing is courageous.

 By  Walter E. Block     04-11-2024 13:57

All literary people have heard of “Waiting for Godot.” (Don’t ask me; I’m not a literary man.)

All men of good will are now waiting, with bated breath, for Rafah. We have been waiting for Rafah for quite some time now. What is meant by “Waiting for Rafah?” It means we are waiting for the IDF to smash into this city, the last powerful redoubt of Hamas, located in Rafah, in the south of Gaza. There, waiting like rats in a trap, are some four battalions of Hamas, comprised of about 1000 terrorists, for a total of roughly 4000 of these scum. If they stay as intact as they now are, if Israel can be persuaded to leave them in situ, they will remain a serious threat to engage in yet another atrocity of the October 7, 2033 level. It is thus imperative that they be completely neutralized.

Birx Busted

How the white coat supremacist teamed with Fauci to take down Trump.

It Wasn’t Fauci: How the Deep State Really Played Trump, a short documentary now making the rounds, aims to prove that, in 2020, President Trump was not in command of the nation. The “fourth branch” of government, the administrative or “deep state,” took control and basically shut down the country, leaving disaster on every hand. One of the major players, Dr. Deborah Birx, has managed to escape notice.

Birx graduated from Houghton College and earned her medical degree at the Penn State. From 1980 to 1994 she served the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of colonel, and served a stint at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Birx’s bio showed no advanced degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry but she worked with Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).

Iranian Attack: 5 billion shekels in a single night

T. Belman.  The moral of the storey is that it is cheaper to attack than to defend.

The former economic advisor to the Chief of Staff, Col. (Res.) Ram Aminach, argues that the defense budget should be increased due to the intensification of the Iranian threats.

Col. (Res.) Ram Aminach, the former economic advisor to the Chief of Staff, estimated that the night of defense against the Iranian attack cost the security system between 4 to 5 billion shekels.

“If we are talking about ballistic missiles that need to be intercepted with the Arrow system, cruise missiles that need to be shot down with other missiles, and UAVs, which we mainly bring down with planes – it talks about 3.5 million dollars for an Arrow missile, a million dollars for a Magic Wand or David’s Sling, and various other costs for planes,” Aminach said in an interview with Ynet.

US “ironclad” support for Israel means “we won’t let you fight back.”

E. Rowell:  Independent Israeli Journalist, Amir Tsarfati, wrote today, “It is clear this morning that the Iranian attack was coordinated with the American administration. It is likely that the Iranians gave a warning that they were going to attack, and the US assured them that it would not allow an Israeli response. The Biden administration, in the most monstrous way, continues to see Iran as an asset, with which agreements must be reached.”

By ELDER OF ZIYON,    14 April 2024

President Biden loves to use the word “ironclad” in describing US support for Israel’s security.

He used that term while campaigning in 2019, saying that his administration would “[sustain] our ironclad commitments to Israel’s security regardless of how much you may disagree with its current leader.”

He’s said it again in 202120222023  last week and yesterday.

Message from Brigadier General Res. Amir Avivi: “Launch an offensive strike”

Peloni:  Every action which has taken form since October 7 has been an extension of the Iranian regime, and now they have assaulted Israel directly.  This challenge can not be left as being simply countered.  It is time for Israel to seize the initiative, as they did during Operation Jonathan and Operation Opera, regardless of the what comments are made by the international community.  Israel must take what steps are necessary to penalize the Iranian regime, and the general public of Israel should rise as one voice in support of their leadership to do exactly this.

Whatsapp     April 14, 2024

The following was posted to the IDSF Whatsapp Channel by Gen. Amir Avivi:

Message from Brigadier General Res. Amir Avivi

The defensive ability that Israel demonstrated last night was impressive, as was the regional cooperation. However, without offensive activity on the part of Israel, we will find ourselves ‘normalizing’ the events of last night.

Things Worth Remembering: The Call to Take Up Arms Against Napoleon

In a 1799 speech, the British prime minister warned that ‘the monster’ could not be left ‘to prowl the world unopposed.’

It’s Over, Napoleon | in St. Helena, by Oscar Rex. Emperor Napoleon in exile. (Photo by Leemage/Corbis via Getty Images)

Welcome to Douglas Murray’s column, Things Worth Remembering, in which he presents great speeches from famous orators we should commit to heart. To listen to Douglas read from and reflect on British prime minister William Pitt’s June 1799 speech on the danger of Napoleon, scroll to the end of this piece.

On a recent flight, I struggled to make it through Ridley Scott’s 2023 Napoleon. I admired the battle scenes and wondered about Joaquin Phoenix’s accent, but, most of all, I missed not seeing one of Napoleon’s biggest nemeses: British prime minister William Pitt.

Pitt the Younger, as he was known (his father was prime minister before him), became the youngest ever prime minister of England at the age of just 24. Following the union of Britain and Ireland in 1800, he went on to become the first prime minister of the new United Kingdom.

Two Countries, Four Wars

E. Rowell:  While I might disagree with some of the points made in this article, the overall thesis is an interesting one.  Instead of simply the democrat party as the prime mover though, I’d say it’s the DC Uniparty allied with the globalist/neocon foreign policy establishment.

By Gary Gindler, AMERICAN THINKER    14 April 2024

The current wars in Israel and Ukraine look like highly complex, multidimensional events.  However, proper historical context can significantly simplify the analysis of both bloody conflicts.

Israel’s response to Iran must be smart, not right.

E. Rowell:  What lessons do you think Iran has learned from the attack?  What did the Israeli military learn from this attack?

A few years ago, I learned that the approach of being “smart, not right” usually yields the best results. Israel would be wise to act accordingly as it mulls a response to last night’s Iranian attack.
