Austin to Gallant: Notify us in advance of response to Iranian attack

Peloni:  Israel should remain cautious and apprehensive with regards to informing the Iranian infiltrated US administration of its planned response prior to making that response.  The US posture of pivoting towards Iran, which has not abated since October 7, should be recalled to be the context in which US-Israeli relations stand today. Do recall the leaks which were passed to the Iranians during Obama’s second term to deter Israel.  Hence, any notification should be withheld til the shooting begins.

Meanwhile, US officials tell NBC News that there is concern in Washington that Israel could do something quickly in response to Iran’s attacks without thinking through potential fallout afterward.

Lloyd Austin and Yoav GallantAriel Hermoni, Defense Ministry

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin asked his Israeli counterpart, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, to notify the US ahead of any potential response to the Iranian attack, a US official told CNN on Saturday night.

“The House will move on an Israel only bill next week”

Peloni:  The delay in supporting a major ally during an ongoing war of conquest being waged against it is both irresponsible and diabolical.  They should pass the aid package immediately.  If not as a grant, it should be passed as a loan with fair terms.  Israel has been a strong and reliable ally to the US, and the West for that matter, and deserves to be granted the ability to defend herself in the ongoing attempt by the Iranian empire to cripple her and slaughter her people.

X April 13, 2024

Chad Pergram, the Senior Congressional Correspondent for Fox News, just tweeted the following:

Scalise now says the House will move on an Israel only bill next week. This says nothing about Ukraine, which could imperil the overall foreign aid supplemental and imperil money for Ukraine. Simultaneously, this move by the Houde places pressure on Schumer and the Senate in a bind. Especially after Schumer called for new elections in Israel. That’s to say nothing of progressive Democrats who have been reluctant to assist Israel.

The Stunning Hypocrisy of Blinken and Power

E. Rowell:  From her perch in USAID Powers can be seen wherever the CIA department of dirty tricks wants to overthrow a democratically elected government they don’t like.  She went to Hungary to try to raise opposition groups to Viktor Orban.  She has been to Georgia and other countries around the world. This is what she does.  She makes up facts, bundles lies together, uses social media, and slanders democratically elected Presidents and Prime Ministers.  There is NO FAMINE IN GAZA.  Photos taken daily in Gaza show marketplaces FULL OF FOOD!  Famine in Gaza is a complete PSYOP.

By Seth Mandel, COMMENTARY    11 April 2024

Samantha Power once wrote a very good book. And the world has not stopped suffering because of it.

About 30 years ago Power published A Problem From Hell, a book on genocide and Western intervention (or lack thereof). It supercharged her career as a public intellectual, and she entered politics as an adviser to Barack Obama’s Senate campaign and then joined his administration. Today, she is the administrator of USAID, and she has just declared the beginning of the long-predicted Gaza “famine,” a story in which Israel is of course the villain.

The Prophets: Eric Hoffer

In 1951, a book by an unschooled dockworker predicted the forces that would give rise to radical politics on the left, populism on the right—and a president like Donald Trump.

Welcome back to The Prophets, our Saturday series about fascinating people from the past who foresaw our current moment. Last week, Louise Perry wrote about Andrea Dworkin, the feminist who imagined—with uncanny clarity—how our world would be shaped by online pornography.

Today, Rob Henderson celebrates Eric Hoffer, the blue-collar philosopher who explained how mass movements form, and warned about a society ruled by elites.

Reevaluating the U.S.-Israel Relationship

The U.S. should double down on its support of Israel.

By Adam Turner, AMERICAN MIND    10 April 2024

The question of the Israel-U.S. relationship has taken center stage in American political discourse as the Gaza War grinds past the six-month point and civilian casualties mount. The anti-Zionist Left, naturally enough, has been demanding a ceasefire since before the sun had set on October 7, but foreign policy “realist” voices have been heard from, too. John Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago has long held that the closeness of the relationship between the U.S. and Israel is a mistake in American global strategy, and he has been making the rounds, explaining his view. CATO Institute analyst Jon Hoffman similarly argues—in a major piece in Foreign Policy that was amplified by Kenneth Roth, the dean of enlightened Foggy Bottom humanitarianism—that “it’s past time for a fundamental reevaluation of the U.S.-Israel relationship.”

Trump’s Secret Weapon: The Genius of Choosing Senator JD Vance as VP

By REVOLVER NEWS    27 March 2024

By all accounts, President Trump’s search for a running mate is entering the home stretch.

Most reports have Trump down to a small stable of likely picks, and on Tuesday, Bloomberg released a report that, if true, narrows the field even more:

Donald Trump has ruled out Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate and is instead eyeing the entrepreneur for a Cabinet job, according to people familiar with the matter, as the Republican presidential nominee sizes up a possible administration.

Israel: Standing Alone Against Multifaceted Threats, Thanks to the Biden Administration

by Majid Rafizadeh, GATESTONE  •  April 13, 2024

  • Israel is currently facing a multi-front war for its survival, with Qatar, Iran and Iran’s proxies, which are encircling Israel, leading the charge. The gravity of this aggression cannot be overstated: not just for the existence of Israel, but also for that of the US, Europe and the West.
  • Israel’s struggle for survival is not solely a regional conflict; it is a battle between civilization and those who think international law, human rights and the rules of war are a Western joke. Since the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979, its rulers have been calling for “Death to America” – now also demanded in Dearborn, Michigan.

Why the left united around hatred of Israel

Since Oct. 7, woke ideology brought together a diverse coalition of advocacy groups eager to stop the war on Hamas. The Democratic Party will never be the same.

JONATHAN S. TOBIN

Something curious has happened in American politics in the last six months. Liberal activist groups on a host of disparate topics ranging from the economy, labor-union organizing, homelessness and housing shortages, “anti-racism,” climate change and support for illegal immigrants have suddenly all been speaking with one voice on an issue totally unrelated to their primary purposes.

Iranian Rial Loses 30% of its Value Overnight

In the midst of all its other woes, the Islamic Republic of Iran has just suffered the worst economic collapse of its existence: the Iranian rial has lost 30% of its value overnight. The Iranians have for years seen their economy decline because Muslim fundamentalists, in way over their heads, rather than technocrats, have been in control of that economy. Their mismanagement, their expensive overseas commitments to proxies and allies, and the billions they have been spending on their nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, have all contributed to a colossal misallocation of resources. More on this latest, and most dramatic, sign of the country’s impoverishment, can be found here: “Iranian rial collapses, ‘loses 30% of value’ – reports,” by Ohad Merlin, Jerusalem Post, April

Chicago Dems Plotted the World’s Greatest Jailbreak to Steal a Presidential Election

During the Civil War, Democrats came up with a unique plan to find more voters.

By Daniel Greenfield,   11 Apr 08:24 PM

“They will vote early and often, and they will fight,” Charles Walsh, a top figure in the Democratic political machine who had unsuccessfully run for Sheriff of Cook County, promised.

The year was 1864 and Walsh, the “doorkeeper’ of the Illinois House, who lost an election to a Republican by less than 800 votes, had a plan to win a presidential election the Chicago Way.

How Israel can fight a better PR war

E. Rowell:  I frequently hear progressives complain that their side needs “better PR.”  American progressives, who will not criticize the policies they and their politicians espouse, often think their only problem is one of “PR.”  If Israel has a PR problem one possibility is that it is due to progressives embedded in the military and intelligence brass who actually believe the Palestinian PR against the State of Israel!  How can they be counted on to be of help with PR when their raison d’être is to undermine the democratically elected government?  The author blames “right wing” politicians for going off message for political purposes when right wing politicians are very ON message, and it is the progressives who are constantly undermining the Likud for political advantage.  Nevertheless it is a useful exercise to think about how Israel could communicate more effectively with the people of the world.

The Jewish state can play a better PR game against Hamas and the West.

By Nachum Kaplan, MORALITY CLARITY     10 April 2024

Israel can improve its PR game greatly.

Israel needs to do better in the public relations war that it is fighting concurrently with its war against Hamas in Gaza. It is losing in the international court of opinion. Here is what it can do better.

Hamas, an evil Islamist terror group, has an outstanding PR machine that has corrupted and co-opted much of the international media and world leaders to do its bidding. Israel’s efforts have been ham-fisted.

We media strategists are like poker players; we must play the hand we have been dealt. Despite being the victim of a savage attack, and holding what would be the high ground in any morally sane universe, Israel started with five structural disadvantages.

‘Democracy’ Has a Peculiar Aftertaste

by J.B. Shurk, GATESTONE  •  April 12, 2024 at 5:00 am

  • If you live in a “democracy” where everyone routinely votes to censor and imprison one another, you still live in a police state.
  • The word “democracy” appears to have become polite shorthand for insisting that an insular minority in control of the American government always knows what is best for the vast, unrepresented majority. Even worse, it sometimes seems nothing more than a convenient disguise for camouflaging abuses of power.

An Israeli soldier operating in Gaza (photo: Israel Defense Forces/X)

A few days ago, I met an Israeli soldier, a paratrooper — tall, lanky, dark-skinned, unassuming, simply dressed, kippah-wearing, and originally from Tiberias, on the western shore of the Sea of ??Galilee in northern Israel.

He was stationed in Gaza for some 120 days, and after a one-month break, he will be back there in a few weeks.

Following some small talk, I asked him how things are going in Gaza — from the IDF’s perspective.

Who can stop the Democrats’ pivot away from Israel?

The turn against the Jewish state has spread from “The Squad” to Joe Biden, with exceptions like Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman standing against the pro-Hamas tide.

Ever since the first four members of the left-wing congressional “Squad” made their debuts on Capitol Hill in January 2019, centrist Democrats have sought to reassure pro-Israel voters that the quartet of radicals were outliers in their party. At the time, that was largely true since most Democratic politicians and their congressional leaders were generally pro-Israel.

Europe is swinging right, and it’s no mystery why

By David Thunder, THE CONSERVATIVE WOMAN    12 April 2024

Earth maps courtesy of NASA: http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/

THE past few years of electoral results across Europe have confirmed, without a shadow of a doubt, that Europe is swinging right, from Hungary, Italy and Greece to Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden and Finland. (See note at end.) The tendency is not completely uniform – for example, Spain’s strongly nationalist and conservative Vox party did poorly, Poland’s conservative party lost its absolute majority, and no alternative right party has yet taken off in Ireland – but it is dominant enough to reshape the European political landscape as a whole.
