A New Gaza Policy for Israel

by  May 2023

Israel’s current policy towards Gaza is based on deterrence, reinforced with periodic military operations. But the military capabilities of Hamas and Islamic Jihad are growing. Israel should actively consider alternatives to its current strategy as I outline here.

Background

The Gaza Strip, known as Gaza, is 365 square kilometers with a population of slightly over 2 million. It was captured by Israel (along with the Sinai Peninsula) from Egypt during the 1967 Six-Day War.

The Decline and Fall of the American Empire

By Steve McCann, AM THINKER

A cursory examination of history reveals that the United States is mired in the same process that precipitated the collapse of the great empires of the past.  The foibles and failures of human nature and their impact on the rise and fall of empires is amazingly consistent and the end result always inevitable.  Can this nation avoid a similar fate?

Empires are defined as great military and economic powers encompassing large occupied or controlled land areas.  Although they vary greatly, they average around 250 years in duration.  The United States will be celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2026.

Israel’s Knesset to hold Judicial Selection Committee vote on June 14

T. Belman.  The opposition claims that if the coalition has the majority of the committee “it will politicize the courts”.

The Courts are already politicized because they are controlled by the left. There is no way to avoid the politicization. To the victors in the elections go the spoils.

The committee will be required to appoint a woman to one of each of the roles, including justices, Knesset members, ministers, and Bar Association members.

The confidential Knesset vote to choose the Israeli legislature’s two spots on the Judicial Selection Committee will be held on June 14, Knesset Speaker MK Amir Ohana (Likud) announced late Monday night, in what could prove a crucial moment in the survival of the ongoing talks at the President’s Residence between the coalition and opposition over the government’s judicial reforms.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Likud party on Monday that his government’s temporarily suspended plans for a radical shakeup of the judiciary are “not dead,” according to statements leaked from Likud’s internal Knesset faction meeting and broadcast on Monday evening.

“Don’t believe what you read, including in Yedioth Ahronoth, especially in Yedioth Ahronoth,” Netanyahu was heard saying, in reference to a report in that Hebrew newspaper that he had said the planned judicial overhaul legislation was dead. “There are lots of things, lots of moves. I don’t want to get into the details,” he said.

Israel’s high-tech: a unique technology-multiplier for the US

The state of Israel’s high-tech

By Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative” May 23, 2023

*Challenged by a unique environment – top heavy on terrorism and war, but low on natural resources and rainfall – Israel has bolstered its do-or-die state of mind, with defiance of odds, risk-taking, frontier, pioneering, optimism, patriotism, can-do and out-of-the-box mentality. This has yielded a robust flow of game-changing commercial, defense and dual-use technologies.

Germany’s Culture Minister Hates Israel, Loves Iran

by Benjamin Weinthal, Arutz Sheva

An exemplary form of Jewish resistance against one of Germany’s leading pro-Iran regime and anti-Israel politicians unfolded last week at Jewrovision, the international song and dance competition for European Jews aged 10-19.

Young German Jews booed the Green Party’s federal culture minister, Claudia Roth, during her speech at the competition in Frankfurt on May 19, drowning out her remarks. The protestors directed their pent-up anger toward Roth with calls of “Get off the stage!” and “You’re not welcome here!”

If Israel does not assert sovereignty, it will lose it

The Palestinians are playing a long game, with a bright and clear goal: the elimination of Israel.

While Israel has never been militarily, technologically or economically stronger, it is suffering from a crisis of conviction.

Our ancestors were Jews in the Diaspora who excelled and achieved great things in their host countries, yet they sought in vain the approval of their non-benign gentile neighbors. Just like them, Israel’s current leaders are chasing the not-to-be-had support and affinity of leading Western countries. Read more…

Promoting anti-Zionism to Jewish youth is not ‘dialogue’

Organizing Zoom programs for Jewish students and those seeking Israel’s destruction is anti-Israel activism, not giving youth the information they’re being denied elsewhere.

By  Jonathan S. Tobin

American Jews have always been addicted to interfaith dialogue. Jewish groups jump at any opportunity to engage in interfaith programs to foster alliances with other minorities. When applied to dialogue between Jews and Palestinian Arabs, dialogue programs, which are usually sponsored by groups that are critical of Israel, are generally even less productive than other kinds.

All too often, they involve Arabs complaining bitterly about Israel and the Jews agreeing with them. While these engagements are well-intended and praised for their idealism, they often do more harm than good since they can serve to reinforce the unwillingness of Palestinians to give up their demented fantasies about the demolition of the Jewish state.

John Durham delivered the wronged Right an unmistakable punch to the gut.

By  25.5.23

Conservatives thrilled at longtime antagonist Jake Tapper’s response on CNN to the too-long-awaited Durham report: “Devastating” for the FBI.

Right thought. Wrong target.

The report was “devastating,” all right. But for the FBI? Not so much.

A proposal for a rail link connecting Israel and the Gulf states has undergone a preliminary feasibility study and could gather steam alongside a major international train infrastructure project as part of a push for normalization with Saudi Arabia.

The “Tracks for Regional Peace” plan and a newer U.S.-backed proposal to connect Gulf and Arab countries with India come as talks intensify between Israel and Saudi Arabia to reach a normalization agreement by the end of the year.

Department of Education Investigates Schools for Not Sexualizing Kids

By Daniel Greenfield, 28 May 08:37 PM

Biden launched his 2024 presidential campaign with an ad attacking Republicans for keeping a book featuring a 10-year-old performing sex acts out of schools.

“’Lawn Boy‘, one of the books shown in the Biden ad, includes lines like, “I was ten years old, but it’s true. I put Doug Goble’s ___ in my mouth.”

According to Biden, whose administration had previously colluded to investigate parents rallying against sexualizing schoolchildren with graphic materials like these as domestic terrorists, anyone opposed to having ‘Lawn Boy’ in schools is a “MAGA extremist”. While that assault on parents was stifled, under Biden, the Department of Education is launching a new attack.

Erdogan’s daughter boasts: Islam will ‘break the Western cross’

By Raymond Ibrahim, AM THINKER

Resorting to jihadist rhetoric, Esra, the daughter of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, recently attacked the West and Christianity.

In a tweet written, not in her native Turkish, but in Islam’s tongue, Arabic, she declared that “There is little left for the Islamic crescent to break the Western cross.”

This phrase is as universally understood by Muslims as it is universally misunderstood by Westerners and is, therefore, emblematic of Muslim continuity and Western confusion.

Levin said to call for judges who ‘understand’ why Jews don’t want to live near Arabs

Justice minister reportedly makes comment on High Court to cabinet; report says coalition plans to stick with custom, naming only one member to judicial appointments panel

Justice Minister Yariv Levin at a cabinet in Jerusalem on May 28, 2023 (Yonatan Sindel/Flash90)

Justice Minister Yariv Levin, the chief architect of the suspended judicial overhaul legislation, reportedly told the cabinet on Sunday that the Supreme Court must feature justices who “understand” why Jewish Israelis would not be “prepared to live with Arabs” in mixed localities.

“Arabs buy apartments in Jewish communities in the Galilee and this causes Jews to leave these cities, because they are not prepared to live with Arabs. We need to ensure that the Supreme Court has justices who understand this,” said Levin, according to the Kan public broadcaster.

Israel’s government too tame for comfort

By Adina Kutnicki, AM THINKER

“To speak of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam as the ‘three Abrahamic faiths,’ the ‘three religions of the Book,’ or the three monotheisms, obscures rather than illuminates. These familiar tropes ought to be retired.” — George P. Weigel

The above quote is featured prominently within my esteemed colleague’s work “Islam & Blood”, which is the most geo-politically, theologically, and culturally sound policy paper to address the cauldron of the Middle East, most profoundly in relation to America’s and Israel’s common enemy, radical Islam. If one domino falls, the other will likely follow. Invariably, they serve as the twin linchpins and pillars of Western Civilizations, the underpinnings of Judeo-Christian principles and mores.

Opposition Offer: 2 Compromises in Exchange for Halting Judicial Selection Reform through 2026

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS   28.5.23

The opposition has proposed to the coalition to advance two elements of the judicial reform––the reasonability consideration and the status of the legal counselors to the government, including the Attorney General––on condition that the coalition commits not to advance the judicial reform bill regarding the makeup of the committee to select judges until the end of the term, which may be as late as 2026, Reshet Bet Radio reported Sunday.

According to the report, the coalition is ready to accept the proposal, but only through October 2023, the end of the Knesset’s fall session.

What the heck is really going on? This explains it all.

TIERNEY’S REAL NEWS  MAY 28, 2023

The Globalist Arizona swamp shut down all the voting machines on election day so that the cartel’s favorite lawyer, Adrian Fontes, and his cabal could keep the border open, run Arizona & use his muscle to threaten judges to look the other way.<

The Globalist Texas swamp just impeached AG Ken Paxton of Texas so they can try to replace him with Jeb Bush’s son, George P. Bush, and turn Texas into another Arizona.

NO to Susie Gelman as US ambassador to Israel

Reality vs. Ideology:

By David Nusbaum

Re: https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2023/05/no_to_susie_gelman_as_us_ambassador_to_israel.html

Whether the Democrat Party historically was a great friend of Israel while the Republicans were not is hardly a black and white issue. Yes, Truman and Johnson were pro-Israel and the Senior Bush was not. But Bill Clinton brought us the “Nakba of Oslo” and BHO…well, where can we start and end?  Trump was pro-Israel despite the mindless hostility he faced from “liberal Jews.” And the O’Bidenties, including the Squad and their supporters on the Senate on the Left, continue to mistakenly view the Israeli situation through the distorted ideological lenses of extreme Left Globalist intersectionalism and the KGB’s fabricated foundational Palestinian Mythology.

A Call To Action

By Ray DiLorenzo, CFP —— Bio and Archives May 27, 2023

It is only on occasion that we use the words of others to any great extent. But, when someone of great reverence for God, with integrity, and great honor finds the phrasing to disseminate the exact meaning of what is going on in the world, we are compelled to present it. It is a call to action.

Take in the words of Archbishop Vigano on the meaning of what is taking place throughout the Western world today. He has it exactly right. The Archbishop is paying a price for his candor and frankness. I am not Catholic, but I am a Christian and I recognize truth when I hear it.

‘The Official Truth’: The End of Free Speech That Will End America

by J.B. Shurk, GATESTONE  •  May 28, 2023

Now that the government has fully inserted itself into the news and information industry, the criminalization of free speech is a very real threat. (Image source: iStock)

  • [M]edia polling from Harvard-Harris showing that Americans hold almost diametrically opposing viewpoints from those that news corporations predominantly broadcast as the official “truth.”
  • Americans have correctly concluded that [with the “Russia Hoax” and suppressing reported influence peddling in Hunter Biden’s laptop ] journalists and spies advanced a “fraud” on voters as part of an effort to censor a damaging story and “help Biden win.” Nevertheless, The New York Times and The Washington Post have yet to return the Pulitzer Prizes they received for reporting totally discredited “fake news.”
