A new Channel 14 poll released Thursday suggests Israel’s governing coalition would retain its Knesset majority if elections were held today, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continuing to outperform his political rivals and expanding his lead on the question of suitability for prime minister.
Peloni: The Saudis refuse to accept that they no longer control Washington policy as significantly as it once did. The real dynamic which must be considered is to what degree Washington is being manipulated towards empowering Turkey against the interests of all others. The real concern for Israel and the Saudis both will be in the context of what terms Trump will pursue in making the peace once the war with Iran is finally ended. It seems that Turkey is routinely the winner of Trump’s Middle East policies, no matter the context, and with Trump advancing the Turkish sycophant Tom Barrack with ever greater authority in his administration, it is little mystery why that is so.

Peloni: As a strong independent Israel makes for an even stronger, more independent America. This was true in the past, and it will be true in the future. The leash which holds Israel at bay restrains its ability to not only act in ways which benefit and protect the Israeli people, but which would benefit and protect the American people as well. Recall that if not for an unrestrained Israel in 1981, America would have been facing a nuclear Iraq when it chose to face down Saddam Hussein in 1990.

For over half a century, the foreign policy establishments in both Washington and Jerusalem have maintained a polite geopolitical fiction: that Israel is a strategic charity case, permanently indebted to the United States for its survival. This narrative is a calculated lie. Israel was never “saved” by America. Historically, the inverse is truer. When Israel stood on the precipice of total, landscape-altering victories, Washington systematically used its leverage to halt operations mid-battle to protect its own diplomatic equities.
Peloni: Moshe Phillips captures the real context of the political divide in Israel, ie Hawks and Doves. Indeed, this Israeli reality stands as a stark contrast to the socio-economic issues which dominate most of the rest of the world’s political divides. Notably, Trump’s move to quash a war in Iran to deal with rising energy costs at home demonstrates this distinction which again contrasts with Bibi having no such interest in prioritizing economics over security matters. Notably, in Israel the issue of land settlement joins the two issues of security and economics together as one. The actions under the current govt has demonstrated an acknowledgement in moving towards this goal in measurable but cautious ways, even as it was elected by a pre-October 7 electorate while being spurned to act by the post-October 7 realities. So, with this in mind, what might we expect the next govt to do, ie one chosen by an electorate wisened by the tragedies of the past three years. The possibilities are quite encouraging.

Social scientist and pro-Israel author Rael Jean Isaac passed away in New York late last month at the age of 93. Together with her late husband, Erich Isaac, and their colleague Edward Alexander, Dr. Isaac was a central figure in a group of activist intellectuals who were at the forefront of pro-Israel advocacy for many decades with much of this work being done through Americans For a Safe Israel (AFSI), of which she was a founder.

After the New York and New Jersey Democratic primaries, it now seems likely that the next freshman class of the House will include Dariazila Avila Chevalier, a Muslim convert who co-founded an organization that tweeted “Death to America” and who bragged, “I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag” as well as Hisham ‘Adam’ Hamawy: an associate of the Blind Sheikh terrorist leader who testified on his behalf at his terror trial.
Peloni: When PM Netanyahu states that “I am expanding the national camp,” it is an acknowledgement that the national camp has expanded. The opposition to the national camp has weakened and today even Lapid dares not embrace the specter of the Two State Solution, even as the Americans continue to harbor such eventualities. The question arises then, which candidate will actually be capable of telling the Americans no when such an eventuality comes to be once again realize.

Although Raphael Lemkin, a Polish Jew who escaped to America in 1939, lost 49 family members in the Holocaust, invented the word genocide in 1944, and cited the fate of Armenians in 1915 at the hands of the barbaric Turks as an example of genocide, he was wrong about that, and on 28 June when the GOI (Government of Israel) joined the hostile gentile world by admitting that the Armenians were targeted for genocide too, that was another mistake.
