On December 8, 2025, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir sparked national controversy by wearing a yellow noose-shaped lapel pin during a Knesset National Security Committee hearing on a bill proposing the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of terrorism. The pin, matching the color of those worn in solidarity with Gaza hostages, symbolized his commitment to executing terrorists. Alongside his Otzma Yehudit party members, he declared that methods such as hanging, the electric chair, lethal injection, and the guillotine were all under consideration. Ben Gvir claimed to have received over 100 offers from doctors volunteering to assist in executions, thus contradicting claims that the medical community would refuse to support Ben-Gvir’s proposal.

On September 9th, Israel conducted a precise airstrike in Doha targeting senior Hamas leaders responsible for the October 7th Massacre. News reports claimed they were in the terrorist financing hub to discuss the Trump-backed “ceasefire” proposal.

Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency, launched the strike because they had evidence that Hamas was about to attack Israel.

Twenty days later, on September 29th, two significant events took place at Trump’s direction.

Peloni:  You can read Trump’s new National Security Strategy HERE.  The section on the Middle East stands at about a paltry page and half out of   Despite it consuming the first year of his second term, Trump is pivoting away from the Middle East (and Europe too), and he is leaving in such a way as to simultaneously strengthen and caution the two Arab poles of Turkey/Qatar and Saudi Arabia, as what should be clearly understood to be the MB and anti-MB camps, neither of which should be misconstrued as being Western camps. Each of these camp will have access to f35s(unless something changes, it appears this is almost certainly coming for Turkey too), while Qatar and SA will each has US umbrella protections as being newly deemed to be MNNA (Major Non-Nato Allies). Meanwhile Trump is incentivizing each camp to not make war on one another with stakes in princely financial deals which are dependent on Middle Eastern Arab leaders to act like New York land magnates.  In the same moment, Trump has indicated that keeping Israel secure still remails a core US interest, without any elaboration on this point.

Peloni:  Trump’s plan provides Israel with the clear right of enforcement of the terms of the Trump plan which includes dismantling Hamas, one way or the other, as Trump himself explained it.  Hence, it falls to Netanyahu to remain firm on denying the Muslim Brotherhood aligned powers of Qatar and Turkey, along with their duplicitous Egyptian ally, a victory in preserving Hamas.  This war has gone on long enough.  It is time to end it, and only one party has the strength, interest and commitment to achieve victory over Hamas, and that is Israel.

Peloni:  It is one thing to retreat from forcing democratic ideals upon foreign nations and quite another to champion totalitarianism as virtue over an allied democratic nation.  While Barrack would probably like us to ignore the relevance of his significant business connections to Qatar raised as well as his Lebanese heritage recalled to mind, it is this very background which might afford us a window into the psyche of the man most responsible for pretending that Jolani is not a terrorist in a suit, but a Syrian partner in peace, even as this suited terrorist describes both the US and Israel as terrorists.

Peloni:  This revelation about should be understood to be a feature, not a bug, within Turkey’s relationship with Israel.  Turkey must have no role in Gaza.  Period.  The only connection on which Iran and Turkey might collaborate is the destruction of Israel and the conquest of the West.  As Trump promotes Turkey in the region, he is failing to either grasp or react to the very real destabilizing role which Turkey portends for the entire region and beyond.

After the return of the 20 Israeli hostages who were still alive, and the bodies of 27 deceased hostages whom Hamas had killed in captivity, in exchange for 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences for murdering Israelis, and the ceasefire arranged two months ago between Hamas and Israel continued, albeit shakily, in force, it was time to move to Phase Two of Trump’s plan to bring a permanent end to the Gaza War. But Hamas has made clear that the most important part of Phase Two — the disarmament of the terror group — will not happen.
