BRUSSELS — Ulrike Franke is a self-confessed German millennial, a defense analyst who worries about her generation’s allergy to the military, especially as it moves into positions of power.

“After 30 years of peace,” she wrote last year in a well-read essay, “German millennials have a hard time adjusting to the world we are living in now. We struggle to think in terms of interests, we struggle with the concept of geopolitical power, and we struggle with military power being an element of geopolitical power.”

He graduated from Columbia University, and as David Remnick put it, “got it into his head to become a community organizer.” After a brief stint working for a living, he answered an ad and joined Ralph Nader’s left-wing New York Public Interest Research Group.

His supervisor at the time, Eileen Hershenov, describes having “some really engaged conversations about models of organizing.” After a year, Hershenov pleaded with him to stay, “I asked him if it would help if I got on my knees and begged – and so I did,” but Obama moved on.

As we have been dealing with the COVID-19 virus for more than two years, we are now seeing the beginning of its worldwide decline.

One fact remains clear: That in spite of the continued exhortation to “follow the science,” many in positions of leadership have done nothing of the sort. They ignored the science and chose to use politics to govern and justify their actions.

From the very beginning, when COVID-19, a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2, was discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, politicians utilized “science” for political gain. From the onset President Trump was derided by many in the Democrat party for imposing a travel ban from China. Both science and common sense would dictate that if a contagious disease were discovered, the initial action is to isolate it to prevent further contagion. We will never know the impact of this measure, but I suspect his prudent and common-sense actions saved thousands of lives.

Video footage from the Egyptian Petroleum Show in Cairo showed Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi striding across the hall to greet Israeli Energy Minister Karine Elharrar, who uses a wheelchair. With smiles and gracious gestures towards his heart, el-Sisi told the Israeli that he was glad she had come and invited her to return.

Israel formally announces it will not cooperate with UNHRC probe of alleged abuses against Palestinian Arabs.

Israel on Thursday formally announced it would not cooperate with a special commission formed by the United Nations Human Rights Council to investigate alleged abuses against Palestinian Arabs, The Associated Press reported.

The decision was conveyed in a scathing letter to the commission’s head, Navi Pillay, signed by Meirav Eilon Shahar, Israel’s ambassador to the UN and international organizations in Geneva.

“It is obvious to my country, as it should be to any fair-minded observer, that there is simply no reason to believe that Israel will receive reasonable, equitable and non-discriminatory treatment from the Council, or from this Commission of Inquiry,” said the letter.

A Pennsylvania state court on Wednesday delivered another blow to the state’s universal mail-in ballot law by issuing an order that a previous ruling rendering the law null can take effect starting in March.

Commonwealth Court Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt previously wrote in late January that the law violated the state Constitution. On Wednesday, Leavitt said Republicans who challenged the law are likely to prevail when the state Supreme Court hears the case next month.

The judge also wrote that an appeal by Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration assumes the higher court will overrule decisions that were rendered in 1862 and 1924, which would invalidate laws passed to expand absentee voting. Administration lawyers did not identify an error in those decisions, Leavitt added.

The rumors have been circulating for years: it’s easy to find side-by-side photographic comparisons of Fidel Castro and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, showing the strong physical resemblance between the two. This rattles the establishment media to the extent that they “debunk” it regularly. Last Saturday, the New York Times ran a piece entitled: “An old falsehood resurfaces: that Justin Trudeau is Fidel Castro’s son.”

On Tuesday, the Daily Beast chimed in with “Truckers Resurrect Bananas Theory About Trudeau’s Real Dad.” True to form for the establishment media, neither addressed the points journalist Karen Leibowitcz made in favor of the claim in 2020, but while the question is interesting, what is far more important is that whatever the true story of his parentage may be, in bringing authoritarian rule to Canada, Justin Trudeau has now shown himself to be the ideological son of Fidel Castro.

There are certainly a lot of reasons to celebrate the end of the Netanyahu government and the rise of the Bennett-Lapid coalition. The unrestrained attacks on the justice system are over and the nastiest political name-calling is now confined to the opposition. As the passage of a budget and a host of other legislation shows, the government is finally running the country.

But in terms of Israel’s future, the biggest reason to celebrate is the fact that the Haredi parties have been consigned to the opposition. The government is finally free to tackle what is nothing less than an existential threat to the economy from Israel’s rapidly growing ultra-Orthodox population.

I know there is a post-modern trend to deny that they exist, but frankly it is insane, and anyone who thinks that way will not survive very long.

The laws of physics are hard facts. So are the strategic facts of geography, like the physical characteristics of Eretz Yisrael, which demand that its eastern border encompass the slope of the Jordan Valley, and that the hills of Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights must be under Israeli control. These are the facts that make the division of the land that is so beloved by peace processors impossible.

T. Belman.  Amb Baker is absolutely right in calling out the EU and others for violating the Oslo Accords which they have an obligation to uphold.

In addition I argue that the Oslo Accords are like a constitution. They delineate who can do what, where. Meaning that the Arabs are bound by it also. In effect it protects Israel until such time as Israel determines she doesn’t need its protections.

Not only should Israel destroy all illegally built homes in Area C but she should also enforce any of the terms of the accords which deal with propaganda and peace..

Europe cannot maintain its status of witness to the Oslo Accords while at the same time systematically undermining and encouraging the Palestinians to violate them. Opinion.

The Biden administration has abruptly withdrawn American support for the Eastern Mediterranean (EastMed) pipeline, a project aimed at shipping natural gas from Israel to European markets. The White House said the project was antithetical to its “climate goals.”

In reaching its decision, which effectively kills EastMed, the White House appears to have caved to pressure from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, who has vociferously opposed the underwater pipeline because it would bypass Turkey.

Biden’s decision — reportedly coordinated with Turkey but reached without consulting Israel, Greece or Cyprus, the main countries involved in the project — undercuts three of the strongest American allies in the Mediterranean region.

The recent Amnesty International report which accuses Israel of apartheid and crimes against humanity is demonstrably dishonest, tendentious, and so lacking in context to be unworthy of serious consideration. Indeed, it has even been called “a paradigmatic example of anti-semitism [sic].” But this will not prevent its use as a weapon in the ongoing diplomatic and legal war being waged against Israel in the UN. As Anne Herzberg of NGO Monitor wrote,

These groups [Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem]—through their personal connections and singular influence at the U.N. Human Rights Council, and the acquiescence of Europe—instead will simply get U.N. Special Rapporteur Michael Lynk and the Navi Pillay-headed Commission of Inquiry [COI] to uncritically adopt their claims and mark them with the U.N. stamp of approval in the next few months. Unsurprisingly and in keeping with his history of anti-Israel activism (as well as in violation of U.N. rules), although he is ostensibly currently conducting an independent and objective investigation of apartheid, Lynk promoted the group’s report on Twitter. There is no doubt that the COI will act in a similar fashion.

Yamina barely clearing electoral threshold in latest poll, with Yesh Atid falling to half the number of seats of the Likud.

Opposition Leader and former premier Benjamin Netanyahu is on the cusp of having enough support for the Likud and its allies to form a new government if new elections were held today, according to a poll released Tuesday.

The poll, conducted by Direct Polls, found that if new elections were held today, the Likud would gain six additional seats, rising from 30 mandates won in last year’s election to 36 seats total, making it not only the largest party in the Knesset, but more than twice as largest as its nearest rival.
