“If you want to understand a religion, you need to understand what it says about the human condition … the rewards it offers, the promises it makes,” Durie explained. “Islam’s view of humanity is that human persons are basically weak and easily led astray, and [that] the solution to this problem is divine guidance, which is imposed by … all the institutions of society and the state keeping people on the right path.”

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Normalized relations between Gulf States and Israel function as a deterrent to Iran. Qatar, which favors Iran at its Gulf neighbors’ expense, opposes this trend. Qatar and its Aljazeera mouthpiece must not be allowed to drive a wedge between Israel and its current and prospective peace partners in the Gulf.
The Arab world is far less divided today than it has been in recent years, and is moving in a positive direction toward conciliation and unity. Just one Arab country—Qatar—stands out like a sore thumb against this renewed Arab consensus through its support for the Muslim Brotherhood, cozy relationship with Iran, and funding of terrorist organizations. Doha is the only Arab capital to oppose normalization and peace between Israel, the UAE, and Bahrain, and it will likely reject any further peaceful developments between Jerusalem and other Gulf States.

When Mudar Zahran and I crafted the Jordan Option we began our vision from the Palestine Mandate which was home to both Jews and Arabs. We noted it was divided into two separate parts, just prior to the signing by the League of Nations, one for the Jews, west of the Jordan River and one for the Arabs east of the Jordan River. We envisaged that a future peace must return to this division and not the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002. In addition, we drew from the Feisal/Weizmann agreement of 1919 which provided for the Arabs to welcome the Jews back and for the Jews to help the Arab economy. This was intended the be the basis for the peace that we were advocating for. And so, it will be, thanks to Trump.

(JNS) – The Arabic concept of balance (“mu-wazana”) plays a critical role in virtually every aspect of life in the Muslim world.
Unlike its Western version—”keeping up with the Joneses”—mu-wazana does not have a negative connotation. Rather than depicting the need to amass material goods to match the status or worth of one’s neighbors, mu-wazana means maintaining balance with other tribes or nations. In the Middle East, this is considered not only a positive, natural phenomenon, but a matter of survival.

(JNS) The U.S.-brokered peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, which is scheduled to be finalized this week at the White House, strikes a major blow to the twin forces of Islamic imperialism and terror in the Middle East: the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood and the Shi’ite regime in Iran. The tripartite alliance between the United States, Israel and the UAE, openly supported by Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco, gives an institutional structure to a pro-American regional bloc of moderate, anti-jihadist governments all with proven track records of action against the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran and their surrogates.
T. Belman. During my conference on the Jordan Option in Jerusalem on Oct 17/17, I suggested to Mudar Zahran that a new arrangement on the Temple Mount was necessary. I suggested that the Muslims should no longer claim the whole of the Temple Mount as their holy site but that they should be limited to the area around the Al Aqsa Mosque. The rest, I proposed should be recognized as a Jewish Holy site. He agreed. This exchange is recorded in the questions I posed to him after his speech.
When Trump tabled his Deal of the Century in Jan 2020, it specifically envisaged a new arrangement whereby Jews could pray there.
We envisaged a new Middle East and Trump is delivering.
Normalization is the buzzword of the moment. We are now normalizing things that had been abnormal for far too long.

It is no coincidence that the deal to normalize relations between the State of Israel and the United Arab Emirates is called the “Abraham Accords.” The patriarch, common to both Judaism and Islam, is revered by both as the progenitor of both religions and peoples.
Both Jews and Muslims believe that Abraham was told to sacrifice his son, while commentators differ on the identity of the son. Jews of course believe that the binding of Isaac was a scene set on the Temple Mount that earlier was the point of creation and later became the location for the two greatest houses of worship for the Jewish nation.
T. Belman. Israel has not agreed to table the extension of sovereignty so they’re not committed to it. So UAE have to rely on Trump’s assurance only. Israel is not even bound to wait for Trump’s approval. She can extend sovereignty before the end of the year without Trump’s approval.
Besides, it is implied that “all things being equal” preceded Trump’s assurance that he would not recognize Israel’s annexation etc.
Notice he didn’t assure them that Israel won’t extend sovereignty for 4 years, only that he wouldn’t recognize it if she did. I am not all all concerned about Trump’s assurance. Things can change.

NEW YORK — The Trump administration gave the UAE a commitment during normalization negotiations that Washington would not recognize Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank until 2024 at the earliest, sources with direct knowledge of the matter have told The Times of Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had for months promised to annex large parts of the West Bank as early as July 1, but that plan was officially suspended as part of the normalization agreement with the UAE. However, the sides have not formally provided an exact time-frame for how long the matter has been “taken off the table,” as US President Donald Trump put it last month.

Trump brokers Middle East peace deal between Israel and Bahrain
President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to establish peaceful relations between Israel and its Arab neighbors, which took a big step forward Friday with the announcement that Israel and Bahrain will establish diplomatic ties.
Friday’s announcement follows the agreement last month by the United Arab Emirates and Israel to normalize relations. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan are scheduled to join President Trump at the White House Tuesday to sign that agreement.

In the September 11th, 2020 edition of The Jewish Insider, Matthew Kassel writes that Bob Woodward recounts an incident on May 22, 2017, when President Trump met with Netanyahu in Israel and gave him a video of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
“It sounded like Abbas was ordering the murder of children,” Woodward wrote. Trump, who was to meet with Abbas the next day was appalled. But US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who watched the “spliced-together” video, believed Netanyahu had manipulated the tape to “counter any pro-Palestinian sentiments that were surfacing,” according to Woodward, though Jared Kushner disputed this accusation.

I recently wrote a short blurb about the chutzpah of Andrew Cuomo to have recently accused Trump of causing Covid in New York. One of my recipients claimed that it was all politics and that everyone does it. Below is my response to him.
EQUIVOCATION
One of the most pervasive and insidious tactics of those who debate from the left side of the political spectrum (as rarely as they do) is the argument of “equivocation” i.e., “both sides do it,” “there is good and evil on both sides,” etc., ad nauseum. In the cold war days when the ruthlessness of the communist system was in full display, it was typical for intellectuals to argue that America, representing the democratic “free world,” was equally “imperialistic” as the communists. Of course that was utter nonsense. The Left accused the US of “economic imperialism,” or even worse by citing some covert CIA tactics or missions. But was the US even remotely as authoritarian and freedom-depriving of its citizens as were the Soviet bloc countries, Red China, North Korea, North Vietnam, and Cuba? Did America choose to occupy and control the countries it liberated in WWII? Both sides did seek to impose its influence and way of life on the world as a whole. One side did it with guns, armies, and with other accoutrements of the police state while we peddled our “influence” far more gently, and often magnanimously. America was hardly the equivalent of the other side.
