Honor and the honor of our women are the most sacred things a Muslim and an Arab possess. For the past four years, the intelligence services of the Hashemite regime have used social media to wage relentless campaigns attacking the honor and reputation of the Jordanian majority of Palestinian origin. Israel has never attacked our women’s honor. Period. The Hashemite regime has.
The Hashemites have wounded our people in the one place that never truly heals. They struck at what we hold most sacred. A wound to honor cannot be erased by time, and the fire of humiliation cannot be extinguished by the passing of years.
What has happened has gone far beyond forgiveness. It has gone beyond the possibility of reconciliation or even dialogue with the regime or its intelligence apparatus. In the tribal tradition to which we belong, bloodshed can be forgiven, settlements can be reached, and reconciliation ceremonies can be held. But when honor is violated, there is no reconciliation, no compromise, and no way to restore what has been lost.
