The Ukrainian Purgatory

Peloni:  Col. Reisner of the Austrian Military Academy provides a balanced and short, but thorough, review of the Ukrainian War (think of it as Drip,… Drip,… Flood), as well as the impending peace which Trump is advocating, while also indicating the implications for Europe should Trump be successful.

The simple reality is that while it is true that this war should never have been begun, it is also true that Europe, not the US, is ultimately faced with dealing with the errors of their ways, even though these errors were in no small part initiated by the American Russiophobic Neocons.

Which make it all the more shocking that Peloni uses this expression to describe Americans and Europeans who are critical of Russia and its dictator, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

The Americans who weaponized US foreign policy against the Ukrainian people simply to use that nation as a bulwark against Russia, after having overthrown the elected govt of Ukraine, were far more than simply critical of Russia as you assert. What is more, the leadership of Ukraine, even before it refused to stand for new elections, was and is no more dictatorial and unrepresentative than the current regime in Kiev which was elected while prohibiting millions of Ukrainians from voting simply due to their displacement during the war.

Also, while the Russian govt may disgust and alarm you, US taxpayer dollars have not placed that govt in power, and yet the complete opposite has been true in Ukraine where more than $5billion was spent in Ukraine before the Maidan Coup, and billions more were spent to support the Poroshenko regime, and hundreds of billions more have been spent to support, arm and influence the Zelensky regime, even as he oversaw the murder of an American journalist, caged his political opposition, and shuttered an established major religious order.

It was and remains an unacceptable situation that US capacity building has been so badly led astray now as to not just simply target imagined enemies of old, such as Russia, but to also now target allies, good and faithful allies, such as Israel. And yes, the Neocon elites which have for too long wagged the dog in Washington were behind the attempted color revolution in Israel as well.

  2. “Neocons” have nothing to do with the war in Ukraine. This was a term coined in the 1980s to describe Jews who had once been liberals (supposedly) become coonservatives because they had realized that the Soviets and their allies were a threat to Israel and Jews everywhere. The term always had strong antisemitic overtones. Which make it all the more shocking that Peloni uses this expression to describe Americans and Europeans who are critical of Russia and its dictator, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

There is not and never was distinct group officials of so-called “neo-cons” who can be differentiated from other officials in the Departments of State, Defense or the Treasury who are critical of and suspicious of Russia. Nearly all officiials of these three departments, and other departments as well, have been suspicious of Russia for well over 100 years, going all the way back to the times of the tsars. Were all of the officials of these agencies of the USG, going back more
    that far in time, “neocons?”
