Trudeau helps Trump ‘Make American Great Again!’

By Arthur Weinreb, CFP

President Donald Trump has said a lot of complimentary things about Canada’s prime minister. Gushing over Justin Trudeau at the recent G20 meeting, Trump said, “We have a great neighbour in Canada and Justin is doing a spectacular job in Canada. Everybody loves him and they love him for a reason so congratulations on the job you’re doing.” (National Post, July 8, 2017)

Trump’s statement, and other similar utterances surprised a lot of people. Trudeau, like President Obama, is engaged in a fundamental transformation of Canada. One of the differences is Trudeau is proceeding at a pace much faster than Obama did during his eight years in office. Trudeau even specifically said Canada is the world’s “first post-national state” with no core identity and no mainstream. Not only is he destroying the country but he brags about it. The U.S. president is the polar opposite. He won the election by rejecting the globalization trend and making it clear his main concern was for the United States.

So why is Trump praising Trudeau? Surely it cannot be to suck up to him. If the “Art of the Deal” guy cannot out-negotiate our beloved Sock Boy, then Maxine Waters is right; he should be removed from office. One of the reasons for Trump’s praise of Trudeau could be the Canadian prime minister is actually helping Trump achieve his goal of making America great again.

Hours after Trump signed his first executive order temporarily banning citizens from seven predominately Muslim countries, Trudeau sent out a tweet welcoming “refugees” to Canada. Thus began a huge exodus of American illegals who walked across the border to a more welcoming Canada.

Recently the number of illegal border-crossers from the United States has surged. This increase is attributed to a large number of Haitians leaving the U.S. for Canada. After Haiti was hit with a devastating earthquake in January 2010, Obama set up a temporary program that put a moratorium on deportations to Haiti. Those illegally in the United States or those whose visas subsequently expired were allowed to remain in and work legally in the U.S. The program was “temporary,” and the Trump administration announced it will probably end in January of next year.  The left, including the Canadian government, were quick to criticize Trump’s policies for ending a temporary program. It was again made obvious the Government of Canada welcomes these illegal immigrants from the United States.

Reuters reports that at least 200 illegals are entering Quebec every day from New York State and making refugee claims. This number does not include those who are walking across the border entering Canada in other provinces and those who manage to sneak in without being apprehended by the RCMP or other authorities. Nor does it include those who come to Canada illegally from other countries; people who would have gone to the United States if only Hillary Clinton was president. The numbers are undoubtedly much higher than the official figures given.

Trump ran on the platform of securing America’s borders and deporting those illegally in the country. Many who agreed immigration laws should be enforced found Trump’s wish to deport illegals unrealistic. Not only would it be virtually impossible to deport every one of the millions illegally in the U.S., but the cost of doing so would be prohibitive. Even the president recognizes this and his administration is concentrating on criminal aliens who pose a danger to Americans.

According to Yasmeen Pitts O’Keefe, a spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), it costs the United States government an average of $10,854 per deportee. Pitts O’Keefe said, “This includes all costs necessary to identify, apprehend, detain, process through immigration court, and remove an alien.” (AZ Central, Apr. 27, 2017).

In Quebec alone, using the low figure of 200 border crossers, the U.S. government is saving $2,708,000 per day in costs not needed to deport these illegals. And since criminals are most likely to face removal proceedings, they have a greater incentive to come into Canada than otherwise law-abiding illegals. For each criminal who leaves the country for Trudeau’s northern paradise, the U.S. will save further costs to the criminal justice system.

The Canadian government has given no indication of a willingness to stop the illegal hordes from coming in, although Trudeau is now expressing some concern. He said there are proper procedures and Canada’s border checkpoints and controls and these have to be respected. (Daily Caller, Aug. 5, 2017)

Thanks to the advent of social media, sometimes all you can say is “LOL.” Under the Third Party Agreement signed by the U.S. and Canada, any illegal arriving from the U.S. at a regular Canadian border checkpoint must be sent back to the United States. Only those illegals who are not as bright as Trudeau would appear at these proper boarding crossing points only to be denied entry or sent back. And the number of such people would be miniscule.

By Trudeau’s immigration policies, he’s saving the American government billions of dollars and helping get rid of thousands of illegal immigrants, many of them serious criminals. He truly is helping Trump rid the United States of criminal illegals.
