Vance’s Hidden Conversation at the RJC

Peloni:  It seems as if Vance, while recognizing that he has a problem with the Jewish vote, rather than actually dealing with this matter as if it needs or warrants handling, is instead going to minimize and ignore this glaring political hangnail.  Notably, this was the effect, if not the reason, he tried to keep his remarks at the RJC off the record, and in doing so, Vance purposefully missed an important opportunity to reach out to the Jewish and Zionist voters who have expressed serious doubts about Vance’s electoral candidacy.  The fact that he is treating the breach between Jewish/Zionist voters as if it does not exist, does indicate a bit of clarity that either he is politically tone deaf, or that he has little doubt that the tension he has created with these voters will affect his election chances.

What is more telling is that Vance failed to address any of the many previous faux pas which he has made in addressing Israel, Jews and Zionism over the past many months, while digging the hole a little bit deeper by suggesting the real problem with antisemitism lies in immigration.Notably, as I have stated before, Trump’s MAGA movement is the most philosemitic movement in US history.  Vance’s attempt to take the reins of that movement while ignoring the fact that he stand on the contrasting side of that ideological divide should not be ignored, but he has in fact done exactly that in this conversation, something which was only highlighted by Vance requesting the conversation not be recorded at an event in which the recordings are the greater point of the RNJ Summit being held.
