Peloni:  The Democrats took their Jewish constituency for granted because their Jewish constituency took themselves for granted.  The Jewish Democrats act as if they have no agency of their own, that they are incapable of supporting candidates that do not have the Democratic seal of approval, and consistently act to support the Democratic Party, even as that political organization espouses antisemitic candidates and political movements such as BLM.  It is a sad reflection on the fact that the American republic has provided Jews with the greatest source of freedom, allowing them the ability to influence their own fate in America by supporting candidates which would in turn support them.  Yet, as is true of all things in any democratic form of govt, the ability to act responsibly in choosing proper leadership is better described as a responsibility.  As Daniel Greenfield explains below, even as the Democratic Jewish community has acted as a captured enclave of the Democratic party, it is not too late to change things, but it might be added that it might actually be almost too late if theses Democratic Jewish voters do not respond to the growing threat being raised against them in the very party to which they maintain a stalwart fidelity in supporting, even against their own interest.

Peloni:  How might we find the means by which to defeat the imbalanced historic distortions waged against the Jewish people when imbalanced historic distortions are being pre-programmed into the modern public by the public source of intelligence which is used to fact check reality on a real-time basis? Peloni:  Mark Levin has been one of the most stalwart advocates of reason and honesty over the past several years relating to the Middle East, and he has maintained a constant position amid changing US policies which ignore him and shifts in public criticisms meant to silence him. Mark has become a focus of poised resolve to understand what is right and to champion that position despite all forces which might rise against him for doing so, be they friend or foe, foreign or domestic, politicians or simply fake-right podcasters.  It has been in inspiration to see so much courage in an age in which personal opportunism has been the wind which catches too many sails.  Cookie Schwaeber-Issan really captures all that might be said on Mark’s frank and honest battle to guide and critique US policy, and I heartedly congratulate and thank her for doing so.

Peloni:  Why is it that politics makes men so stupid? The ranks of the Bibists and the Never Netanyahu crowd are each responsible for denying the truth about the longest serving premiere in Israel’s history, and the most accomplished public servant in modern democracies.  This is not to hail Netanyahu as some form of saint, which he is not, but none the less these are simple facts.  It is also true that Netanyahu has been conflicted by a need to reform the judicial norms which have seriously damaged Israel, both internally and externally, and yet this issue, which was a major theme in the last election, has yet to be slightly achieved.  This too is a fact.  These facts do not conflict with one another, but the two camps which divide the nation around the personality of its highest civil servant after service of too many years to count, are incapable of reconciling these and MANY other attributes of Netanyahu’s long reign as PM.  The reason is that politics make men stupid.  It makes them ignore simple realities so that political choices might seem more obvious than perhaps they are.   The cost is that the divisions between these two camps have exposed the nation to ridicule, divisions, external manipulations and foreign attacks, both figuratively and literally, in an age which the safety and security of every Israeli in the country is at threat.  Among the facts ignored in supporting the dichotomous ideologies about Netanyahu is that we still do not know the full scope of what happened on October 7, why the Gaza border was not only completely exposed to attack but was also ignored for most of the first day while individual warriors and trapped civilians were denied any support from what we have seen to be the greatest integrated military and intelligence institutions in the world.  Until such time as the insanity which prefers to weaponize selective facts as the full truth to accomplish a political outcome is set aside, we will never be capable of either learning or grasping the truth about that fatal, unforgiveable failure which made the October 7 slaughter so successful… and therefore, it is easily not inconceivable that it could all happen again.  Let the truth be told though all the sacred cows fall, and political agendas be damned!

Peloni:  When we look on as Iran persists in its need to seize the Strait of Hormuz as its own, we must question what is really taking place here?  What is the real reason that Iran is attempting to overturn the norms of the High Seas in what is likely to be a no win scenario for them.  Of course, it is reasonable to suggest that the Iranians are set upon a path of complete insanity so as to achieve its ideological achievement of calling forth the long sought rising of the Mahdi, but this conclusion is rendered illogical, as such a rationale would have precluded the crazy Iranians from being present at the negotiating table at all.  So, no, it is not their ideology which brought them to open a new revenue stream using open piracy.  Instead, the fixed resolve to keep the Strait as their own personal piggy bank cries out to the world that the economically isolated Iranian Islamic Republic is short of the most basic commodity of revenue.  No matter how the negotiations go, Iran is signaling that it NEEDS stronger revenue streams than their special blend of oil might afford them in the post war period.  Why might that be?  While Iran was fighting a war with America and Israel, China sought out an alternate source of energy which they ironically found in the US, and they bought a good bit of it in anticipation of Iran doing something stupid.  The consequence of this is that China is not in a great hurry to buy massive amounts from Iran, whose energy is now full priced rather than being priced quite low when it faced US sanctions.  Unfortunately for Iran, its old buyer, China, and its potential new buyers in Asia, are both waiting to see what comes from the current negotiations, but even if Iran wins back its old buyer and new buyers in the post-negotiation period, assuming that war is avoided (unlikely IMO), Iran will be competing on the open market for any sales it does receive, and recalling that very few refineries can handle the crude oil sailing out of Kharg Island, the best case scenarios do not provide Iran with as strong a revenue stream as they might anticipate needing to maintain their ranks and to return Iran to its former state of, well, what it was before the war.  Meanwhile the malcontents within the Iranian public are still malcontented, making Iran’s need of stabilizing its long decrepit economy all the more important.  So Iran needs a new revenue stream beyond the sale of its energy products, which is why it is obsessed with nationalizing the international causeway of the Strait of Hormuz as its solution to financing its way back towards stability.

Peloni:  Rabbi Pesach Wolicki argues that Israel is making steady progress toward defeating Hamas in the Gaza Strip through a strategy of expanding military control, dismantling Hamas infrastructure, and tightening pressure on the terrorist organization. He also discusses recent proposals by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to establish Israeli communities in Gaza, arguing that while Smotrich supports the idea, the proposal is largely driven by domestic political considerations ahead of Israeli elections. Peloni:  Don’t look for any miracles shifting the dominance of Hezbollah to the LAF simply because the US is increasing its already significant payments to Lebanon.  Hezbollah’s support in the country is mirrored in its support in the Lebanese armed forces.  Even as that support might be less than it was as judged solely by public statements of Lebanese influencers, including from some within the Shia-Hezbollah supporting community in Lebanon, has Hezbollah lost its own influence on the LAF?  Well, I would argue that such a forlorn hope will once again be met with serious disappointment, even as the LAF is once again the recipient of massive infusions of American cash and arms.  Once again, the Reaganesque adage of ‘Trust but Verify’ should be shorted to simply ‘Verify’ as the Lebanese have demonstrated as recently as January that they are untrustworthy as ever when they then laughably claimed that South Lebanon had been demilitarized.  The predictability of the Lebanese failing to address their Iran problem in the form of Hezbollah will persist until such time as someone eliminates the real source of Hezbollah’s power, which is in Iran.  You can not eliminate this influence by simply outspending the Iranians in Lebanon.

Until such time as Islamist control in Iran is eliminated, the buffer in Lebanon will remain a clear victory, even as it comes with Trump’s support for preventing any targeting of Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut which is not permitted under this current agreement, which calls to question if this was the real purpose behind both Trump’s linkage of Lebanon to Iran, and the subsequent US mediated negotiations which led to the mediating of some of the consequences of that linkage.

Peloni:  I mentioned some time ago that many things will change before the coming election.  It is important to note that Yuli Edelstein tried to challenge Netanyahu in the last election, and that there will be no such challenge entertained in this current election within Likud.  There has been an attempt to form an alternative to Likud with previous and current members of Likud, and that attempt failed to mature beyond talk and the creation of the all too unconvincing name of Likud-B.  So, instead, or perhaps in anticipation of Likud B becoming more than a joke, an old ally of Netanyahu’s, but a more recent challenger of his, is striking out on his own.  It is important to note that Edelstein is championing a break with the Haredi parties while Netanyahu is holding fast to his long tested and recently challenged partnership.   So we will see how this matures in the coming days, but the plan for the formation of Likud B was initially to include more than just Edelstein.

On a side note, don’t miss the highlighted statement by Lapid below who admits his need to find an image of the Right behind which to hide in the form of his previous partner, Naftali Bennett.  Recognizing the shift to the Right among the electorate serves his need to hide behind Bennett, but the association with Mr. Two-State Solution Lapid has not been so useful to Bennett who once again misjudged the consequences of joining with his Leftist ally Lapid as they face the coming election in a party so aptly named “Together”.
