Ask one hundred people in the United States what a dhimmi is and perhaps twenty might know. In Western Europe the number would be slightly higher because of latent memories of battles fought against invading Moslem armies over hundreds of years.

In 732, Charles Martel led his Frankish forces at Tours to victory against an Islamic invasion of France, which nearly destroyed Christian Europe. Similarly, Islam was ousted from Spain in 1492 after an occupation of the Iberian Peninsula by the Moslems for hundreds of years.

The timing was extraordinary. As I was moderating a conference entitled “U.S.-Central Asian Relations in the Era of the Abraham Accords,” Kazakhstan announced that it was, in fact, joining the pact. The reasons are many, and more Central Asian countries are likely to join, but it is the timing that leads to a larger understanding of Israel and the often hypocritical world. To be clear, it is neither the Abraham Accords countries nor those of Central Asia that are hypocritical.

Islam’s Hidden Danger: Two Faces That Lead to Violence and Conquest

Islam teaches two very different pictures of the Prophet Muhammad, and this split explains why it can look peaceful at times but turn brutal when its followers gain strength. The book of Islam, the Quran, holds these two faces side by side, but an old rule called abrogation says that later teachings cancel out earlier ones. Since the harsh, fight-first commands came after the kind, live-and-let-live ones, those violent orders win out. They become the true guide for Muslims today.
