After over a year of war-driven displacement, thousands of Israelis from the north are preparing to return home in March. To support this transition, the Israeli government has announced a NIS 3.4 billion ($934 million) compensation plan aimed at easing the financial burden on returning families and ensuring long-term security in the region.

Let’s examine how much money the New Israel Fund (NIF) has spent on online activity. Spoiler: up to $822,000, equivalent to nearly 3,000,000 NIS in 2024 alone.
Below is a breakdown of the organizations, some of which are focused on online discourse, while others include such activities. The following quotes are from the fund’s website (in Hebrew/English), shedding light on how deeply the fund invests in influencing social media discourse in a leftward direction. Read carefully, as it seems the language reveals only part of the picture, intentionally:
Mr. Tom Friedman of the New York Times is unhappy with “the inability of Israel’s right-wing government to articulate any plan for governing Gaza the morning after the war’s end with a non-Hamas Palestinian partner.” Accordingly, he supplies a “Biden Doctrine.” It consists of three tracks:
“On one track would be a strong and resolute stand on Iran… On the second track would be an unprecedented US diplomatic initiative to promote a Palestinian state — NOW… On the third track would be a vastly expanded US security alliance with Saudi Arabia, which would also involve Saudi normalization of relations with Israel…”
Peloni: Whereas it is true that defeating Hamas is not dependent upon a political solution for Gaza, it is also true that a political solution for Gaza is entirely dependent upon first defeating Hamas.

Defense Minister Israel Katz on Friday directed Israeli military leaders to prepare a plan for the complete defeat of Hamas in Gaza if the remaining Israeli hostages are not released by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
On December 6, 2024, Senator Tom Cotton (Republican of Arkansas) introduced a bill in the Senate to replace “West Bank” in all federal documents with “Judea and Samaria,” noting, “The Jewish people’s legal and historic rights to Judea and Samaria go back thousands of years. The US should stop using the politically charged term West Bank to refer to the biblical heartland of Israel.” His bill matches a House bill introduced earlier this year by Representatives Claudia Tenney, Randy Weber, and Anthony D’Esposito.

In the last few months, no one could have imagined that Hezbollah in Lebanon, the crown jewel of the Iranian Ring of Fire, with upwards of 200,000 projectiles aimed at Israel, would have been so degraded. James Bond-like operations involving pager and walkie-talkie explosions featured on the American TV news program 60 Minutes, followed by Israel’s devastating attacks against the Hezbollah military infrastructure, changed the face of the Middle East.
No one predicted that the Turkish-backed Syrian rebels (HTS) would use Hezbollah’s weakness to start a march south from their stronghold in northwest Syria, conquering the state in days, while exposing the Russian and Iranian-backed Syrian army as just a paper tiger. HTS correctly perceived that Hezbollah fighters and the Russian air force were not going to come to the aid of Syrian president Bashar Assad as they did 10 years ago.

In the days following the appalling atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, 2023, there was a symbiotic virtual uprising that occurred on many US college campuses in support of Hamas and its goals.
The basic playbook followed was reportedly developed by sponsors and affiliates of Hamas. It included intimidation and harassment of Jews and even physical assaults on them. Campus buildings were taken over and encampments created, which excluded those of Jewish faith and prevented them from accessing educational and other facilities on campus, as well as disrupting educational functions.

The new president promised the state would hold the monopoly on arms – code for disarming Hezbollah – and vowed “positive neutrality” in the Arab-Israeli conflict, signaling a return to the 1949 truce with Jerusalem.

The “Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act” was passed by a 243-140 vote, with all but one Republican and 45 Democrats voting in favor. “America is passing this law because a kangaroo court is seeking to arrest the prime minister of our great ally, Israel,” said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL).

Also on the agenda: a more aggressive U.S. policy expected from the incoming Trump administration regarding Iran.
Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, after a Nov. 10 meeting with Donald Trump, reportedly left with the impression that the president-elect would support an Israeli Air Force strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, or possibly send in a U.S. strike, according to news site Axios, citing unnamed sources.
I’m not sure what the rationale was to bring an Islamist nation with expansionist goals and a vision of creating a revised Ottoman caliphate into NATO to begin with, but if it ever made sense, it no longer does. It’s time to expel Turkey from NATO.
It’s generous to look at Turkey as “European,” and they certainly have no connection to the North Atlantic, but Turkey certainly does threaten Europe. Turkey creates tension because of it is the only NATO member with such broad expansionist goals: in Syria, in northern Africa, as well as its occupation of Cyprus (which is part of Europe). Turkey allowed a flood of millions of illegal migrants from Syria and elsewhere to transverse its borders, and enter actual Europe.
