Peloni:  Lebanon’s failure to disarm Hezbollah was not only predictable, it was inevitable.  The Lebanese lack the independence and agency with which to unseat Iran’s dominance over them.  The way to even approach this goal is thru the destruction of the Mullahs’ powerbase in Tehran, and only then might something substantially different take form in Lebanon.  Until then, the kabuki theatrical shell game in Lebanon will continue unabated, no matter what is agreed to by anyone.

Lebanon is pretending to disarm Hezbollah and thinks that the world believes it. Then, when the world calls Beirut out, Lebanese officials engage in collective delusion and blame “Israeli aggression” for military escalation. Lebanon is now reneging on the ceasefire and the 1701 enforcement mechanism that it signed, in November, in which it pledged to disarm Hezbollah and, in return, get territory back from Israel.

Peloni: Caroline Glick continues to be a national treasure as she has taken to join the current govt as International Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister of Israel.  The entire conversation in the attached link is important and illuminating, but the discussion below on what is commonly described as “aid” to Israel, but it is in fact an investment in Israel which provides an unequaled benefit to the American people, provides an important context to that investment.  By strengthening Israel, America itself is strengthened and is made safer.

Today, 59 Israeli hostages remain in Gaza. How can we justify hostage negotiating with a terrorist entity when we do not even know for sure who is alive and who has already been murdered? Testimony of released hostages confirms that many have been murdered in brutal circumstances. Many are held in underground caves, starved and placed in harm’s way, to put it mildly.. Shouldn’t the International Red Cross be proactive and take the humanitarian steps to expose terrorist barbarism!?

Peloni:  Totalitarians continue to collapse democracies around the West at the behest of the judicial elites who were invisioned to preserve liberty and impose justice when the complete opposite has become far too common of late.   When Judicial Reform was first seen to have become a real potential in Israel following the last election, so many jurists around the world raised concerns while describing the Israeli judicial system as the gem of judical systems in the west, even as its rulings are based upon the whim of the High Court jurists.  And now, even as Israel is taking only modest steps to deal with its out of control judiciary amid a very real contest of wills with its own Juristocrats, courts around the Western world are moving to cement their own whims as being relevant enough to undue democratic norms.  The fate of freedom in the West will depend upon the spirit and will of the public to resist the imposition of autocracy by judicial fiat, and failing this, the life spring of liberty in the West will fail as well.
