Peloni:  Take note of the fact that while Iran’s attacks targeting Israel’s northern communities and the American helicopter were both arbitrary in nature, the assaults being brought by both Israel and America are strategic and penalizing.  Israel targeted the Iranian oil infrastructure and Trump is targeting Iran’s gulf capabilities.  While Israel has been forced to halt their attack on Iran, Trump has now ordered at least three waves of attacks thus far on Iran’s Gulf assets which directly has a bearing on Iran’s ability to leverage its authority in enforcing its Gulf blockade.  Will Iran be capable of continuing its blockade after these attacks?  We will see.

Peloni:  It is interesting that President Trump is\n Planning a response to the Downing of an American black Hawk helicopter.\n But demanded that Israel  Should\nNot respond to the multiple waves of drone and missile attacks , which have been mounted against israel’s northern cities.  In any event, Trump certainly has his pick of targets to choose from, which include missiles and missile production sites, drone production sites, nuclear development facilities IRGC and Basij leaders and  command facilities as well as the energy grid and transportation systems which Trump threatened with destruction two months ago.  Yet when the focus remains on keeping oil prices low, it places many of these targets off-limits, which is why the war has ended without fulfilling the unconditional surrender which Trump has mentioned more than once.

Peloni:  Actually, contrary to Vance’s assertion that the Obama deal with Iran simply didn’t have enough safeguards in place to make it enforceable, the truth is that the problem with the Obama deal with Iran was that it was brokered with Iran by an American president who was unwilling to go to war in response to any violations discovered in the deal.  While Trump has demonstrated his willingness to strike Iran, even for prolonged periods of time using a coordinated effort with Israel in doing so, Trump has simultaneously demonstrated a lack of political will to do more than threaten to Iran with taking steps needed to eliminate the regime entirely.  While the distinction between Trump’s and Obama’s policies on enforcement may appear sizeable, they each left the Iranian regime with the means by which to survive, and survival of the regime is all that Mullahs and the IRGC need to win.  And make no mistake about this fact, Iran sees itself as having won the war, as it will soon see that it has won the peace as well, specifically because the safeguards which Vance asserts will keep Iran in compliance with the coming deal do not carry with it the political will to end the Iranian regime when the deal fails to be fulfilled by the Mullahs.  Lacking the will to do what is needed to end the Iranian regime is what brought Trump to the negotiating table, and this is true of Obama as well, and this common motivation between the two different tracts of negotiations is what will see the Mullahs resurrect its nuclear ambitions in the future knowing that no matter what, the Americans lack the will to see any action thru to its completion as has been so well demonstrated by first Obama and now Trump.

Peloni:  Alliances require a certain level of understanding between the partners which respects the needs and abilities of eachother which serves to both support and to continue the partnership.  A caveat to this is that public pronouncements of disrespect and daylight should be avoided at all costs.  Trump’s behavior since entering into his mad dash for a deal in the past two months has, for some reason, come to demonstrate a growing disrespect for the partnership between himself and Bibi.  Not only has this been made clear in public, but it appears that this being made public is more and more Trump’s earnest intent.  While Bibi and Trump have alternate political objectives, it is not entirely in Trump’s interest to denigrate his partnership with Israel as he is currently in negotiations with the Arabs and the Iranians.  Since Trump can hardly be unaware of any of this, it seems there is a greater game at play than the public pronouncements might indicate…maybe…

Peloni:  The consequence of interacting with terrorists is that those most intimately involved in conducting that interaction face the dilemma of having to choose between their complicity with terrorists and becoming an actual casualty of the process.  Treating terrorists as if they are honest partners in any negotiation defies reality, and the resulting willful ignorance is what makes a mockery of every ‘negotiated’ ceasefire which is also ‘enforced’ by the complicity of the UN’s representatives and agencies.  The corruption begins with the logical disconnect of ‘dealing’ with terrorists as if they were statesman, and it ends with the UNIFIL acting as Hezbollah’s watchman and protector in the same moment.  So, more than just addressing UNIFIL, the international preference to preserve terrorists is what truly needs to be reconsidered, and until such time as this is done, any group acting to safeguard a ‘peace’ with Hezbollah will become its toady, as has been the case with UNIFIL.  The implications of this reality has consequences for what is also being proposed in Gaza.

Rather than serving as a stabilizing element, 13,000-strong UNIFIL is operating as a hostile entity under the guise of international diplomacy.

Peloni:  I think this article misses an important distinction between the policies of Trump and Obama, and I think it worth highlighting this distinction, because this distinction also separates Trump’s policies from those pro-Iranian influencers such as Carlson, Kelley & Owens.  Obama’s intention was to make Iran the regional hegemon, placing the influence of Iran above that of Israel, and Trump’s efforts to undo this is what gained the support of the Carlson, etc. podcasters to break with Trump.  While Trump has taken to push Israel into adopting a second seat to Trump’s peace efforts with Iran, such as they are, he is not promoting Iran as the dominant hegemon in the region.

Peloni:  Wow! It is important for democratic nations to grasp the importance of opposing antisemitism, not just because their Jewish community members are citizens and deserve the full protections of the local laws, but because the weaponization of Jew Hatred is a violation of democratic norms, and it stands as a foreboding warning for the wider non-Jewish communities of what is coming for them.  With this in mind, it is encouraging to see at least the people of Canada are responding with an ear to the assault on their values, institutions and people, even as their leadership acts quite to the contrary of this.
