A Culture in Collapse

By Victor Davis Hanson, AMERICAN GREATNESS   8 Jan 2024

In the last six months, we have borne witness to many iconic moments evidencing the collapse of American culture.

The signs are everywhere and cover the gamut of politics, the economy, education, social life, popular culture, foreign policy, and the military. These symptoms of decay share common themes.

What Leo Tolstoy can teach us about ‘the day after’ in Gaza

T. Belman. My sentiments exactly.  GREAT ARTICLE.

What Tolstoy might very well teach us is that we must ultimately look to the individual soldiers and their feelings, senses, and perceptions of how the war went.

By DOUGLAS ALTABEF, JPOST  JANUARY 9, 2024 02:59

In his epic work, War and Peace, the great Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy writes at length about the detailed battle plans of Napoleon’s 1812 invasion of Russia, as well as those of his Russian adversaries.

A military genius, Napoleon lays out greatly detailed and specific orders, choreographing the way he envisions a battle to be fought.

Widespread demolition of Jewish homes in Gush Etzion

T. Belman.  What the fuck!!!

Civil Administration forces raided numerous Israeli homes in Gush Etzion this morning, confiscated mobile phones, and demolished several buildings.

Civil Administration forces demolished a number of buildings on homesteads near the town of Pnei Kedem in Gush Etzion on Tuesday morning. Six houses have been destroyed so far, including one with a family living in it.

The demolition was secured by significant forces of Border Police, whom the residents claim confiscated their phones to prevent them documenting the incident.

Major in Reserves: This Time We Must Demand Complete Victory in Gaza

T. Belman. This is a great interview. The protest movement in Israel is growing. The soldiers and their families are opposed to the elite policies. And the country supports them big time. Watch it grow. A clear victory means Palestinians must be allowed to leave and Gaza must be annexed.

Why Benny Gantz is very afraid of an *effective* commission of inquiry

Yossi Baum, X  January 7, 2024

Yossi Baum tweeted this question with the following response:

Because such an investigative committee may ask him embarrassing questions on several topics. Here are some of them, at the tip of the fork:

1. As the Minister of Defense collected weapons from the standby units in the Gaza Envelope and in the north. The commander of the Southern Command at that time was an unknown named Hertzi Halevi, by the way.

2. As the Minister of Defense approved the bringing of tens of thousands of Gazan laborers to Israel. It is highly probable that at least some of them passed important information to Hamas in preparation for the massacre on October 7.

PA report: 1,330 buildings demolished in 2023

T. Belman. Don’t believe the settler terrorism bullshit.   Yes Israel is proceeding with demolitions and building homes in Area C.

A Palestinian report on Israeli activity over 2023 claims more than 12,000 attacks by Israelis against Palestinians and their property in Judea and Samaria.

Demolition of Arab constructionCivil Administration

U.S. Intelligence Believes Israel Can’t Win If It Fights Both Hamas and Hezbollah

T. Belman.  Like it or not, Israel will have to attack Iran by the end of the year.  That means that Hezbollah will launch a full scale war. Israel’s preference is a pre-emtory war  now that she is mobilized and Hamas is severly reduced..

Israel and Hezbollah are trading fire along the northern border of Israel on a daily basis, and the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to threaten a “major military operation” to reduce the threat.

It’s hard to imagine a worse turn of events. Striking Hezbollah means expanding the war with unknown consequences. Will Iran launch a missile barrage against Israeli cities? Will Syria enter the war to support its main ally? What about Iranian proxies all across the Middle East?

The problem with expanding the war is the uncertainty it brings to the calculations of the United States and Israeli governments. And with that uncertainty comes the prospect of the war spinning out of control.

Israel and South Korea: A Growing Partnership

The parallels between the predicament of Israel and the Republic of Korea are considerable. Both face existential threats on their borders. Though both states are democracies, the commonalities between them run deeper. Both are relatively young countries born out of conflict. Both exist under threats from their respective neighbors from inception. Both suffered periods of isolation in world politics,[1] yet despite heavy economic burdens due to many security challenges, both managed to build a vibrant democracy and a prosperous economy. Both countries maintain the most vital asset one can provide to the United States: strategic relevance. And both states’ economies are export-oriented. A bolstered relationship with Seoul, which is relevant and useful to American interests, serves Israel’s strategic interest.

A New Existential War – Part III: Forming a Clear Post-War National Vision Means Returning to the Roots of Zionism

In recent years, deep cracks have appeared in the Zionist Iron Wall. The goal of the current war should be to restore the Zionist Iron Wall and establish it with renewed strength for the next hundred years.

By January 8, 2024

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: On the morning of October 7, 2023, the strategic Israeli security concept collapsed, marking the end of the 30-year era since the Oslo Accords. With the shocking force of an earthquake, a cultural concept that had its roots planted in the dream of peace, and in the illusion that the State of Israel could aspire to become a kind of Denmark, disintegrated completely. For Israel to achieve victory in the war with Hamas, it will have to adapt its security concept to reflect a new and deeper understanding of the enemy’s perception of the nature of its struggle with Israel.

Poll: The public supports the evacuation of the Gaza Strip – even at the price of international condemnation

A poll published this evening by Channel 14 News shows that a majority of the public believes that even after the elimination of Hamas, the Gaza Strip will still have a terror-supporting population. It also emerges that most of the public agrees with the claim that an arrangement for the deployment of an international force in the Gaza Strip is dangerous

Douglas McGregor : Millions of Jordanians & Egyptians ready to arm up, cross the river & fight Israel

T. Belman. As you know I have been a fan of Col Macgregor’s analysis of the Ukraine War. I stopped listening to him when he was not supportive of Israel. Nevertheless, I listened to this video. Macgregor’s thesis is that Israel is doing itself more harm than good in procecuting this war and it will turn out very bad for Israel and for the US. So he is looking out for Israel. I pray he is not correct.

This is not a war of choice for Israel as Macgregor suggests. It is a war of necessity. Israel believes it has no choice but to continue til victory. It also believes that such victory will not be a pyrrhic victory as Macgregor is suggesting.

Macgregor is fear-mongering. Neither Jordan nor Egypt will go to war against Israel. They have both been there, done that with a destructive outcome for them. Even Hezbollah is holding back and sticking to a low level war rather than a full blown war. Israel has made itself very clear. If Hezbollah doen’t retreat and stop the low level war, it will be destroyed. As for Jordan, King Abdullah will soon lose his crown. I am disappointed in the Judge for including an antisemitic clip from Max Blumenthal.

(about 17 million) worldwide who have died or been seriously injured by the COVID “vaccines.”

E.Rowell: This interview gives a concise overview of the way the mRNA platform works, and the massive number of people (about 17 million) worldwide who have died or been seriously injured by the COVID “vaccines.” Not only is this threat to humanity not ended, but the WHO is working to end national sovereignty by May 2024 and become the world’s public health decision maker without the ability of countries to disagree with their policies.

A Broader War in the Middle East

 E. Rowell:  This fascinating interview highlights the tragedy of Middle East policy vis a vis Iran, in which many innocent Kurds, and other Iraqis who were American allies, were killed in an ongoing effort to prop up Iran.

By Entifadh Qanbar, JEWISH POLICY CENTER  4 January 2024

The United States rehearsed its disastrous 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan when it pulled all forces from Iraq in 2011, according Entifadh Qanbar. Qanbar told a Jewish Policy Center webinar January 4 that U.S. officials “were aware” of an internal Iraqi defense ministry report indicating that Baghdad’s own forces stood at only 25 percent readiness on the eve of the pullout.

Occasional Sovereignty: Lebanon In The Hezbollah Grey-Zone

By Amb. Alberto M. Fernandez*, MEMRI       5 January 2024

The Middle East is no stranger to ridiculous statements but the official reaction by Iran and Hamas to the purported Israel strike killing senior Hamas leader Saleh Al-Arouri was particularly odd. Both Hamas and their patron in Iran condemned the attack, of course, but also condemned it as “a violation of Lebanese sovereignty”[1] and Lebanon’s “territorial integrity.”[2] These are odd statements. Perhaps Lebanon’s sovereignty or integrity is like that thought experiment in quantum mechanics with the cat. Like Schrödinger’s cat, this sovereignty is both alive and dead. Alive when it is useful to Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran and dead when it is not.

The Left Hates Orit Strook, the Woman Who’s Been Attacking the Conceptzia Since the Expulsion

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS     7 January 2024

Orit Strook May 2013/Miriam Alster

“Zehu Zeh,” A humorous show on Kan11 TV that used to be funny but since January 2023 became increasingly angry, last week featured a satirical attack on Minister Orit Strook (Religious Zionism). A mock interviewer inquired if she regretted questioning an IDF official in a cabinet meeting regarding news reports that some Air Force pilots refuse to attack targets in Gaza on consciousness grounds. The question was directed at the Head of the Strategy Division Major General Eliezer Toledano, who rebuked the minister, telling her it was a “horrible question.”
