Admit It: You Hate Religious Jews

What the latest outburst of anti-Haredi misinformation tells us about progressive notions of identity and power

BY LIEL LEIBOVITZ,TABLET aUG 23, 2023

Late last week, a 29-year-old Israeli reporter boarded a United Airlines flight from New York to Tel Aviv. A short while later, she tweeted a photo of several Orthodox Jewish men, with the following caption: “Haredis on my flight right now are trying to move me around from one seat to another. Because I’m a woman. By the way, United Airlines are doing nothing about it. They’re telling me that because of me, the flight won’t take off. For shame.”

The Oslo disaster 30 years on

By Efraim Karsh  : 18 Aug 2023

View PDF  View EPUB

ABSTRACT

Thirty years after its euphoric launch, the ‘Oslo peace process’ between Israel and the PLO stands as the worst calamity to have afflicted Israelis and Palestinians since the 1948 war, and the most catastrophic strategic blunder in Israel’s history. By replacing Israel’s control of the West Bank and Gaza Palestinians with corrupt and repressive terrorist entities that indoctrinated their subjects with burning hatred of Jews and Israelis, as well as murdered some 2,000 Israelis and rained thousands of rockets and missiles on their population centres, the Oslo process has made the prospects for peace and reconciliation ever more remote. By deflating the combative ethos of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), it has weakened Israel’s national security and made the outbreak of a multi-front war a distinct possibility. By transforming the PLO (and, to a lesser extent, Hamas) into internationally accepted political actors without forcing them to shed their genocidal commitment to the Jewish state’s destruction, it weakened Israel’s international standing. And by deepening Israel’s internal cleavages and destabilising its sociopolitical system, it has created a clear and present danger to the Jewish State’s thriving democracy, indeed to its very existence.

Over 1,000 School Districts Hiding Students’ Gender Identities from Parents

S.A. McCarthy  August 21, 2023

A new report is sounding the alarm on the growing number of schools embracing transgender ideology and keeping parents in the dark. According to Parents Defending Education, at least 1,040 U.S. school districts have adopted policies instructing or encouraging faculty and staff to keep students’ gender identities a secret from parents. Those districts include over 18,000 schools responsible for nearly 11 million students. The vast majority of those school districts (593) are in California.

INTO THE FRAY: Distorting the Declaration (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

The focus of Israel’s Declaration of Independence is overwhelmingly on Jewish sovereignty and political independence in the ancestral Jewish homeland—not on liberal democratic governance

By Martin Sherman

As embodied in the Declaration of Independence, the essence of the State of Israel is to be a Jewish and democratic state.  Colonel (res.) Adv. Pnina Sharvit Baruch, the Institute for National Security Studies, February 19, 2023.

The Declaration of Independence expresses a deep commitment to freedom, justice and peace in the spirit of the vision of the Biblical prophets— Yohanan Plesner, President of the Israel Democracy Institute, April 26, 2023.

Ramaswamy Took Soros Money Then Tried to Hide Truth

By Newsmax Wires    |   Tuesday, 22 August 2023

Vivek Ramaswamy didn’t tell the truth about the real reason he took money from the family of George Soros.

After criticism for receiving a $90,000 grant from the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship to attend Yale Law School, Ramaswamy claimed that he did so only because he “didn’t have the money” pay for it.

But in 2011, the same year he started Yale, Ramaswamy reported he made $2.2 million in income, according to his tax returns reviewed by Fox News.

The Death of the ‘New Jew’

The Caroline Glick Show

THIS DICUSSION IS CRUCIAL TO UNDERSTANDING THE ROOTS OF THE CURENT INTERNAL CONFLICT.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

A striking feature of the Left’s anti-government campaign has been the prominence of veterans of the 1973 Yom Kippur War in the effort. What happened in that war that radicalized so many of its soldiers? How did that war affect Israeli society in the fifty years since the war? Is there a deeper decades-old ideological debate that is coming to the surface now with judicial reform?

Climate Change Didn’t Cause the Maui Fires, Environmentalists Did

Instead of preparing for wildfires, Hawaii was busy going “green.”

Politicians, the media and environmentalists spent the past week blaming the Maui fires on global warming.

“That level of destruction, and a fire hurricane, something new to us in this age of global warming, was the ultimate reason that so many people perished,”  Hawaii Gov. Joshua Green claimed, while ignoring his state’s mismanagement of the disaster and its botched response at every level from the power grid that wasn’t secured to the sirens that didn’t go off.

The Zionist Left’s 100-Year War Against the Zionist Right

By Yisrael Medad, JEWISH PRESS

In according with the Basic Law: Government, the 37th Government of Israel was formed on December 29, 2022 having presented itself before the Knesset, announcing its guidelines of its policy, its make-up, and the distribution of functions among the Ministers, and merited an expression of confidence. Parliamentary democracy, following multiple elections and inter-party negotiations, won out. A coalition with a clear majority assumed power. But, then, something happened.

Israeli High Court Sidesteps Judicial Overhaul Legislation

By Chen Maanit, HAARETZ

The court denied a petition filed by the right-wing Regavim organization against the defense minister and army officials, claiming they had unreasonably avoided demolishing illegal construction. The court’s handling of the case may demonstrate an effort to get around recent controversial legislation

Victor Davis Hanson Compares the Israeli Left with the US Left

An Interview with Victor Davis Hanson.’The philosophy of the left globally is that they are so morally superior…that they have to use any means necessary.

By Sara Lehmann, INN AUG 22/23

You recently visited Israel. Can you talk about your impressions of the country as it is enmeshed in a conflict over judicial reform? Do you see parallels between Israeli protesters against reform and the American left?

Yes, I do. I think the Israeli left, like the American left, doesn’t believe that its agenda will achieve 51% public support necessary to ensure they have the political power to achieve that agenda. In lieu of public support for an agenda that’s often utopian or impractical, or antithetical to the foundational documents of the country, they always look at process.

Working Out the Deal

By Shoshana Bryen, JEWISH POLICY CENTER • August 18, 2023 • Daily Caller

The arrival in Washington of Ron Dermer, a key security advisor to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, suggests that after negotiating terms for Israel with Saudi Arabia – a two-way parlay on a three-country deal – Washington may be asking Israel for input. Or Israel may be demanding input. In either case, the parties are performing a dance that will play out over the next several months – deal or no deal, this way or that way, for better or for worse.

A limited defense treaty with the US would be counter-productive

The US won’t defend NATO allies if they launched a preemptive attack, despite Article 5 of the treaty. Likewise, under a treaty with Israel, it won’t defend it in the case of a pre-emptive strike on Iran. In fact, a treaty would motivate the US to pressure Israel not to escalate.

By  Jacob Nagel, ISRAEL HAYOM

A “limited defense treaty” between the US and Israel as part of a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia and a trilateral agreement between the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, contains much more cons than pros, especially when it might come at the expense of Israel’s top priority concern: Preventing a bad Iran nuclear deal (or understandings) that will lead Iran on its sure path to a bomb in a very short timeframe.<

The Biden Turn Against Israel

And the mishandling of the problem of anti-Semitism

by

President Biden has often made reference to his close relationship with Israel and Israeli leaders over the last half century as a way of proving his bona fides on matters relating to the Jewish state. The Obama administration had badly strained those relationships, but when Biden was elected in 2020, many hoped and some predicted that his would be an administration far friendlier to Israel. And on the surface it has been; the steady current of hostility that emanated from Obama’s White House has not been present in Biden’s.

Saudi-Israeli peace is no pipe dream

by Haisam Hassanein, WASH EXAMINER AUG 17

Is a Saudi-Israeli peace deal just around the corner or still just a long-term hope? The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington and Riyadh “have agreed on the broad contours of a deal” for the Saudis to recognize Israel. Yet when asked about that story, a State Department spokesman seemed to throw cold water on it, saying that normalization has “a long road to go with an uncertain future.”<
