“IT’S OFFICIAL: My wife and I have switched our party affiliation from Democrat to Republican! People have long been asking, ‘Dov, when are you gonna leave the Democratic Party? What does ‘pro-Israel’ Democrat mean in 2023?

While progressives flirt with “racist state” smears, Biden blackmails Netanyahu with talk of ending the alliance. Both show the impending crack-up of the bipartisan consensus.

By Jonathan S Tobin  (July 20, 2023 / JNS)

In the end, only nine House Democrats voted against a resolution refuting the smear that Israel “is a racist or apartheid state.” Still, the decision of all but the bitterest opponents of the Jewish state to swallow hard and vote for a measure that targeted one of their leaders shouldn’t be interpreted as a sign that things are well between Israel and the Democrats. To the contrary, the discussion about whether Israel is “racist” speaks volumes about the delicate balancing act that Democrats are attempting to pull off as they navigate towards the 2024 elections.

Muslim Mobs Get a Pass for Assaulting Jews in NYC and LA

Attackers get off with no prison time and anti-bias training.

In May 2021, Joseph Borgen was violently assaulted by a Muslim mob while walking down the street in midtown Manhattan in the vicinity of an anti-Israel rally. The Jewish man was kicked, punched, pepper sprayed, beaten with a metal object, and ended up in the hospital.

Borgen was taunted as a “dirty Jew” and the assault was caught on video. “They were kicking me in my ribs, my stomach,” he described.

The Regulation of the Legal Advisors: the end of democracy?

The Legal Forum for Israel

It is no secret that in recent months, the State of Israel has been in the midst of an important struggle over the nature of the State of Israel. The focus of this struggle is on the judicial system, which in recent decades has assumed significant power that has been used and continues to be used to directly affect the character of the state. Both sides of this battle understand the importance of defining the role of the judiciary – on one side are those that have taken to the streets to demonstrate against any changes to the system, and on the other side are the majority of the people who voted for and repeatedly expressed their support for amending the judicial system.

Why NATO was Obsessed with Ukraine and is Now in a Panic

By Larry Johnson, GATEWAY 17.7.23

To answer the question in my title you need only look at two numbers —

1) Ukraine’s rank in terms of natural resources and

2) the size of Ukraine’s Army in February 2022.

Since the end of World War II the West has viewed Ukraine as a critical piece on the global chess board for attacking and defeating Russia. The joint CIA/MI-6 effort to destabilize the Soviet Union, which started in 1947 with the provision of funds, weapons and training to Stefan Bandera’s organization, was crushed by the Soviets by 1952. It was shortly after that, following the death of Stalin in 1953, that Khrushchev gifted Crimea to Ukraine (1954). Was it a reward for Ukrainian assistance in wiping out the CIA-backed OUN uprising?

US’ banning of Israeli entities in Judea & Samaria – boomerang

Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative”  July 19, 2023

State Department policy

*The June 2023 banning of all Israeli research and scientific entities in East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank) and the Golan Heights from the mutually-beneficial US-Israel binational commercial research and development projects, such as BIRDBARD and BSF, reflects the return of the State Department to the center stage of foreign policy making.

*This ban is consistent with the State Department’s systematically erroneous and counterproductive policy on critical Middle East issues, as documented by this video and this article.

The Coup We Never Knew

Did someone or something seize control of the United States?

By Victor Davis Hanson 5.1.23

What happened to the U.S. border? Where did it go? Who erased it? Why and how did 5 million people enter our country illegally? Did Congress secretly repeal our immigration laws? Did Joe Biden issue an executive order allowing foreign nationals to walk across the border and reside in the United States as they pleased?

Since when did money not have to be paid back? Who insisted that the more dollars the federal government printed, the more prosperity would follow? When did America embrace zero interest? Why do we believe $30 trillion in debt is no big deal?

Herzog’s lamentable performance

T. Belman. Everything Phillips said is true and divisive. I wrote “This speech was extremely well written and well delivered. It was tailor made for an American audience. and struck all the appropriate chords.” In fact I even believe that Bibi approved of it or maybe even wrote it.

Was this the time to stress what divides us or what unites us?

Israel needs to deliver an entirely different message to its two-faced U.S. ally

By MELANIE PHILLIPS, JNS

Far from the diplomatic triumph that some are making it out to be, Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s address to Congress this week left a bad taste in the mouth.

Certainly, the audience punctuated his remarks with repeated applause and standing ovations. For many members, warmth towards Israel is genuine and for some even profound. The Democratic Party, however, is sliding into increasing hostility.

Seven Democrats in the House of Representatives, along with the independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, boycotted Herzog’s address. Last Saturday, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), who chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told a group of Palestinian supporters, “Israel is a racist state.”

With the historic release of the New York City Department of Education’s report on June 30, 2023, concluding an eight-year investigation of failing Hasidic schools in New York, I am finally allowing myself to dream… and think about what life could be like for Hasidic children across New York State, the United States and beyond.

Edward Luttwak: Focus on the Palestinians, Not Their Leaders

T. Belman. “West Bank Arabs must understand that for “economic integration” to take place, they will need to cooperate with Israel as the existing power.” says Luttwak. That is exactly what Mudar Zahran has been saying for over a decade. In fact his motto is “Cooperation not confrontation”.

by Marilyn Stern, Middle East Forum Webinar, July 14, 2023

Edward Luttwak, a strategist with extensive U.S. government service on presidential transition teams and as a consultant to the departments of Defense and State, the Army, the Navy, and the White House, spoke to a July 14th Middle East Forum Webinar (video) about policies affecting Palestinian Arabs living in the West Bank. The following is a summary of his comments:

Arab Support for UNRWA Is Down 90%, But Western Donors Hold Steady

The West should make amends to the Jewish people for this historical injustice.  By Ted Belman

The truth about UNRWA By Ted Belman

UNRWA, that most corrupt and corrupting of international aid agencies, is financially on its uppers. The organization’s media advisor, Adnan Abu Hasna, has warned of the possibility of UNRWA being forced to stop services in September with its budget projected to run out by that time. It wouldn’t be able to pay salaries or other expenses unless donors pony up more spondulicks, as they are apparently reluctant to do. <

Israel and the new America

By Caroline Glick,  Jul 20, 2023,

(JNS) On the surface, Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit to the White House on Tuesday felt like old times. U.S. President Joe Biden warmly greeted Israel’s ceremonial head of state and repeatedly stated that the U.S.’s commitment to Israel is “ironclad.” Biden mentioned that he spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the day before and arranged a visit for Israel’s actual leader.

So, are we back to normal? Were the last seven months of unprecedented U.S. hostility towards Israel, its elected government, its parliamentary deliberations, its senior ministers and its prime minister a blip on the screen, now undone?

Smotrich to Allow Israel to Demolish Palestinian Construction in A. B and C

The plan, if implemented, will signify a sharp shift in Israeli policy

By Hagar Shezaf, HAARETZ 17.7.23

Bezalel Smotrich, Israel’s Finance Minister and minister in the Defense Department, said at a meeting of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that he is working on a plan that would allow Israel to demolish buildings deemed to be “national security threats” in areas A and B of the West Bank – lands which are under Palestinian Authority control.

Smotrich’s plan signals a shift in Israel’s policy with regard to enforcing construction violations in the West Bank, which, in accordance with the Oslo Accords, was carried out only in Area C until now.

Israel’s Economy and Ultra-Orthodox Productivity

By Daniel Sonnenfeld, MANARA MAG 31.8.2021

Israel’s tech sector recently celebrated a series of successful IPOs of Israeli firms – perhaps most notable of which were ironSource and SentinelOne – on the Nasdaq and NYSE, for a total worth of USD 26 billion. And that is just the latest in a year of booming prosperity for ‘Silicon Wadi’, despite Covid-19’s hold on the global and local economy. Yet, while the economically central tech sector booms, a shadow will continue to hang over the Israeli economy as long as the Ultra-Orthodox sector – colloquially known as Haredis – fails to integrate into the job market.
