Well, the Pesach holiday has now come to an end, and we are back to “normal,” whatever that is.
The weather certainly has not been normal. Over the last couple of days, we have had unseasonably winter weather with hail, torrential downpours and flooding.
Today, the sun is shining, and the sky is blue. How welcome it is.

Attorney Morris Hirsch, a lieutenant-general in the reserves who worked in the IDF military court system for almost 20 years, has excoriated the Israeli government for continuing previous governments’ policies of financing the Palestinian Authority.<
Hirsch is also critical of the previous government, claiming that it saved the Palestinian Authority (PA) from financial implosion by giving it funds beyond what it was legally obligated to, but he is scathing in his condemnation of the current prime minister, who has overseen the transfer of billions of shekels to the PA even as Palestinian-Arabs continue to murder Jews and after the PA was exposed as being behind a major push to bring IDF soldiers to face trial at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

I never thought I’d have to face the prospect of witnessing the decline and fall of the United States, the greatest country in the history of the world. I’ve always felt grateful to have been born in this marvelous nation. Yet, today, as I woke up and was having my morning coffee, I began to realize that things are changing quickly, and the changes are corroding us from the inside. Regardless of how I vote, or whether I vote, it seems as if it doesn’t matter, because something evil has invaded this great land, and our lives are never going to be the same.

(April 11, 2023 / JNS) The Israeli public reasonably expected a dramatic announcement was coming when the Prime Minister’s Bureau announced Monday afternoon that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would give a prime-time press conference that evening from the Prime Minister’s Office at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv rather than the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. Over the past several days, Israel has found itself in the midst of a simultaneous and coordinated assault. It has suffered terror attacks countrywide and rocket volleys from Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

The West’s sweeping sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine are shaping up to be the West’s most monumental miscalculation in modern history. Liberals tend to assume that the course of human events follows a trajectory of incremental progress. Human character and institutions are imperfect, but over time they get better, as experience shows us our flaws. The process allows us to judge our predecessors reliably even as we recognize that we ourselves shall be judged—and found wanting. The arc of history is long, as Barack Obama famously paraphrased Martin Luther King, who was himself adapting a remark by the 19th-century abolitionist Theodore Parker. But it bends ultimately toward justice.
To understand the dramas, disagreements, and protests roiling Israeli politics at this moment requires an understanding of the government’s proposed judicial reforms, as well as the history of Israel’s Supreme Court and its relationship to the Knesset. It also requires knowledge of Israeli society, and how the founding generations of Israel’s political leadership—which tended to be Ashkenazi, secular, and oriented to the political left—have given way to an Israeli population that tends to be more ethnically diverse, more traditional and religious, and oriented towards the political right. Whereas the practice of slavery enslaves the body, the dogma of apostasy ensnares the mind. Whereas slavery is a shameful practice of the past, some shameless religionists still use the doctrine of apostasy to intimidate and severely punish people who elect to choose their own beliefs.
Islam is extremely possessive of its subjects. It is a religion that admits anyone into its fold by the person simply uttering a one-sentence statement of faith, shahada: I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is Allah’s messenger. By so saying, one becomes Muslim for life and surrenders the right of ever leaving it. Anyone who leaves the Islamic fold is murtad (revert), apostate.

The United Nations is seeking vast new powers and stronger “global governance” tools to deal with international emergencies such as pandemics and economic crises, a new U.N. policy brief has revealed, and the Biden administration appears to support the proposal.
The plan to create an “Emergency Platform,” which would involve a set of protocols activated during crises that could affect billions of people, has already drawn strong concern and criticism from U.S. policymakers and analysts.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. On April 19, 1943 Nazi forces entered the Warsaw Ghetto with the stated objective of rounding up and deporting all Jews there to death camps but were attacked by organized Zionist fighters. That Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) was created by the Israeli government to be near the anniversary of the Uprising on the Jewish calendar was the correct choice.
T. Belman. I have trouble with Ettinger’s analysis. Islamic and Palestinian terrorism attack Israel for historical reasons which have nothing to do with it being a proxy of the US.. While Israel would like to defeat the Palestinian terrorists, the US protects them and finances them. Israel wants to attack Iran which supports Palestinian terrorism and prevent them from getting the Bomb, the US wants to embrace Iran and finances it, if given a chance.
If America was so hell bent on defeating Islamic terrorism, why didn’t it attack Saudi Arabia immediately after 9/11.

The organs of terror victim Lucy Dee were transplanted Tuesday hours before her funeral, saving the lives of five people, the National Transplant Center said. Her widower, Rabbi Leo Dee, explained the decision by surviving family members to donate the organs — a practice that some Orthodox Jews consider forbidden by Jewish law.
“Since the tragedy, the remaining four of us in the family make decisions together. When the doctors told us the news [that Lucy was brain dead] and also in a condition where she could donate her organs, I brought the family together and we decided to donate the organs,” Dee told The Times of Israel.
