IDF Launches Sweeping West Bank Counterterrorism Operation

FDD | August 28, 2024

Latest Developments

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an overnight counterterrorism operation in the West Bank on August 27, targeting militants in multiple locations, including the cities of Jenin and Tulkarem. By morning on August 28, the IDF reported that it had eliminated five “armed terrorists” in those areas, apprehended “wanted suspects,” and located and confiscated “weapons including M-16s, ammunition and additional military equipment.” Read more…

US and EU Sanctions Against Israel: What They Are, What They Aren’t, and What it All Means

Peloni:  This is an important video.  In the first half of the video, Naomi presents the details and process by which the US sanction policy, which was first developed back in 2019, was deployed against Israel.  The more important part of this video, however, begins at 25:29 where Naomi explains that previous to the current sanctions campaign against Israel, sanctions had been used against specific people for specific reasons, but at present, the sanction policy being leveraged against Israel is being used to tame the Rightward awakening in Israeli society which has taken hold in the wake of October 7.  Also, unlike in support of previous sanctions activity, a committee has been erected to choose individuals to be sanctioned as targets, and that these individuals are used as examples to threaten the Israeli public to not go too far to the Right.  The sanctions are additionally being used to try to manipulate the fall of Bibi’s govt for one more pliable to US demands.  Importantly, Naomi shares why it is vital to fight this outrageous attack on Israel, and what steps Regavim is currently taking.

The case for “Dresdenization” of Hamas and Hezbollah territory

Why wait for genocidal Iran to have nukes?

Howard Rotberg   Courtesy

Why are Israeli defensive actions categorized as a pre-emptive strike on Iran when Israel, under missile attack from Iran and its proxies, has had to remove tens of thousands of its citizens from the north and has been subject to the taking of, and abuse and murder of, its citizens as hostages.

If Hamas doesn’t return the civilian hostages by the anniversary date of October 7, 2024, and stop firing missiles, then Israel might:

  1. Bomb Iran’s oil fields,
  2. Consider following the historical lead of America and Britain in February, 1945 at Dresden Germany, and firebomb Gaza.

ISRAEL’S STRIKE ON HEZBOLLAH – NOT WHAT IT SEEMS

Peloni:  Mike explains to Gadi that all that we have been told about the pre-emptive attack does not fit with the facts that we know.  He and Gadi discuss what Mike finds to be a more reasonable hypothesis beginning at 20:44 and lasts for about twenty minutes.  I was listening to a live Twitter Space while the attack took place, and it was remarked at the time that the limited casualties which were reported during Israel’s preemptive attack, about a half dozen, did not make sense and that this number should be expected to significantly increase after the fog of war dissipated.  Well, that number didn’t change, which draws Mike to consider other potential realities than the narrative which is being reported in the press and is being put forward by Israel’s leadership.

Israel will finally win a war!

The optimistic approach is a realistic one. Israel will destroy Hamas, preserve its credibility as an ally of Sunni states in their conflict with Iran, and enable a new Middle East.

IDF forces in the tunnel   IDF spokesman

Victory in a war requires neutralizing the enemy. The World heretofore has not permitted an Israel victory. The fact that Israel has been prevented from ever winning a war (see below) has encouraged its enemies to attack Israel repeatedly. Ending wars with armistices, ceasefires, and pauses assures that the next war will be around the corner.

This time almost all of Israel understands that it must finally win a war. Israel cannot allow Hamas to survive and retain control of Gaza. A minority in Israel has still not learned from past failures. Demonstrators in the streets of Tel Aviv seek to topple the current government (using the unfortunate hostage families as a ruse) and allow Hamas to launch another future massacre. But that noisy and committed minority shall fail.

Israel needs to save its north

Peloni: The normalization of war in the North has rendered Israel to be only a portion of itself.  This must not be allowed to persist, just as we must continue to offer such a prize to the enemy.  Secure the Northern border with interest!

Our leaders must understand the implications of not prioritizing the recovery of the north of Israel.

We love living in Israel’s north. It is an area of rolling hills, lush greenery, open areas filled with historical sites, wineries and sweet little towns. The air is dry, the water can be drunk from the tap, and life is not as sophisticated or fast-paced as it is in the center.

The north is beloved by most Israelis because they understand that it speaks to a simpler time and is an area that has always been central to the Jewish people, both in antiquity and in pre-state Mandatory Palestine.

Sadly, that seems to be a case of “that was then and this is now.” Now, the north—whether it is the western, central or upper Galilee, or the northern half of the Golan Heights—is an area under constant attack from Hezbollah rockets and drones.

Carlson interviews RFK Jr

Peloni:  Bobby Kennedy is an important figure in today’s political spectrum, offering the nation an example of what an old school Liberal looks like and sounds like.  In this single description we might relate to both the charm and the failure which resides in RFK’s image of how best to fix the world.  I noted some time ago that RFK was a poor choice for Trump as a VP, because of the basic distinctions which distinguish these two men, and that distinction is what role govt might have in the daily lives of the people over which it governs.

Trump holds an instinctively hostile perspective to govt, looking for a way to get govt out of the way of business, healthcare, and the public, while RFK sees govt as a basic tool by which all aspect of society’s are improved due to the involvement and governance provided by the government.   It is telling that despite the forced injections which RFK accepts has aided the metabolic disease syndrome in the young, and the untold deaths caused by the Covid shots, he has no intention of eliminating the govt agencies which facilitated these crimes, but instead he intends to reform them by providing them with the proper leadership needed to regain public confidence in the govt which so recently and so badly betrayed the public’s confidence.

Liberals see govt as the answer to every problem, and as I noted above, RFK is a true and honest Liberal, even as he is no radical.  As Hence, since RFK is going to be playing an important, while currently ambiguous, role in Trump’s govt, his pro-govt, pro-regulation stand does concern me.

This Is Not Capitalism

Jeffrey Tucker | August 27, 2024

The word capitalism has no stable definition and should probably be permanently retired. That won’t happen, however, because too many people are invested in its use and abuse.

I’m long over trying to push my definition over someone else’s understanding, generally viewing disputes about vocabulary and dictionary definitions as a distraction against the real debate over concepts and ideals.

The point of what follows is not to define precisely what capitalism is (my friend CJ Hopkins is hardly alone in describing it as once emancipatory but now rapacious) but rather to highlight the many ways in which economic systems of the industrialized world have made a hard turn against the whole ethos of voluntarism in the commercial sector.

An Israel-Hamas “ceasefire” would breach international law.

By Louis Rene Beres

“Let reason go before every enterprise and counsel before any action.” Ecclesiastes 32:23

At time of writing, negotiations between Israel and Hamas on a potential “ceasefire” are seemingly set to continue despite Hezbollah’s attempted attack on Israel followed by massive rocket fire and statements by officials that the ceasefire talks are near collapse.

Even if an agreement is reached, however, it will almost certainly fail because Hamas still regards all of Israel as “Occupied Palestine.” For both Israel and the “international community,” there would be injurious consequences for international justice. Some of these consequences would be “force-multiplying” and irremediable.

It’s high time for a realistic understanding of these urgent issues. The immediate effect of any anticipated ceasefire agreement would be the defiling bestowal of legal legitimacy on insidious terror-criminals. The longer-term effect would be to undermine the authority of international law in general and to enlarge the prospects of a continuous regional war.

Palestinian Authority losses due to terror payments has reached 6.96 billion shekels

– in last five years alone

By Itamar Marcus and Ephraim D. Tepler, PMW   | Aug 27, 2024

  • The PA’s official daily cites numbers that show how it is clearly to blame for its own problems
  • Israel deducts from PA tax transfers because the PA insists upon rewarding terrorists
  • Israel deducts from PA tax transfers because the PA sends money to Hamas-controlled Gaza
  • Israel deducts from PA tax transfers because the PA owes Israel money

The Palestinian Authority prioritizes its payments to terrorists and has lost over 6.96 billion shekels (over $1.88 billion) in the last 5 years alone, according to its own data.

The Keffiyeh is the Arabs’ Swastika

by

Like everything that is “Palestinian,” the keffiyeh comes from somewhere else. Its name is derived from an Italian word, cuffia, or headdress. It originated among the Bedouins as a protection from the sun, and not just Palestinians, or Arabs in general, wear it; Kurds and Yazidis sometimes sport it as a non-political statement. Nevertheless, the close identification of this headdress with the Palestinian jihad against Israel has made it unmistakable: the keffiyeh is today what the broken cross of National Socialism was in the 1930s and 1940s. It is a symbol of an irrational and violent hatred of Jews, and a determination to destroy them.

America’s elections are no longer about hearts and minds

Peloni:  The momentum in the Trump camp is positive, real and significant, but how do we defeat a system of fraud which bases the opponent’s vote tally on your own?  It is not just a fair and relevant question, but it is also a question which still remains unanswered to this day.  So what is the answer?

Netanyahu scrambles to contain damage after minister calls for ‘synagogue on Temple Mount’

Coalition partners and opposition condemn National Security Minister Ben Gvir’s statements on holy site policy. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office quickly distanced itself from the controversy, asserting unequivocally saying, “There is no change to the Temple Mount status quo.”

Israel’s political landscape was rocked on Monday as National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir asserted that a policy shift now permits Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount/Al-Aqsa compound, one of the most contentious sites in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His controversial remarks, which included proposing the construction of a synagogue at the location, ignited a firestorm of criticism from both coalition allies and opposition figures, who cautioned about potential diplomatic fallout and security risks.

Ben-Gvir made the comments in a Monday morning interview on Army Radio, where he claimed a change in Temple Mount policy now allows Jewish prayer at the site. Ben-Gvir went further, stating, “I would establish a synagogue there.”

Are there really fine people on both sides?

Biden told delegates at the DNC: “Those protesters out in the street, they have a point.” Oh, really?

Ronn Torossian | August 27, 2024

Pro-Hamas protest in the USA

As pro-Hamas demonstrators burnt American and Israeli flags, called for Israel’s destruction and a global intifada President Biden told delegates at the DNC: “Those protesters out in the street, they have a point. A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides.”

The people wearing Hamas headbands, waving Hezbollah flags, and screaming “intifada” have a point according to the President of the United States. That includes those people praising Hamas and calling for the destruction of Israel from the river to the sea.
