Iran’s top Navy Commander announced that Iran owns Antarctica, and the regime plans to build a military base in the South Pole.
In a broadcast last fall, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani stated, “We have property rights in the South Pole. We have a plan to raise our flag there and carry out military and scientific work.”

Something to note in this article by the NYT is that Andrii Biletskyi, whose brigade was removed from the thick of the battle, is the founder of the Azov Battalion as well as the National Corp political organization and the Azov Social Movement. Also, Ukraine’s collapsing control over the Avdiika fortress is significant, while it is still not yet complete. The anticipated withdrawal of Ukraine’s forces will also somewhat reduce the extensive Russian front lines, allowing them to increase their force concentrations. Ukraine still holds at least two significantly entrenched and well manned positions as well as the last supply road into the city, but their position is quite significantly reduced from just a month ago when the first breakthrough in the city took place.
As Russian forces breach a supply line and seek to encircle opposing soldiers, Ukraine’s commanders maneuver to “more advantageous positions.”

The Biden administration and a small group of Middle East partners are rushing to complete a detailed, comprehensive plan for long-term peace between Israel and Palestinians, including a firm timeline for the establishment of a Palestinian state, that could be announced as early as the next several weeks.
The urgency of the effort is tied directly to a proposed pause in the fighting and release of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas that is being negotiated by the United States, Qatar and Egypt.

The looming Israeli military plans to invade Rafah have exacerbated tensions between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and the Biden administration, which has grown increasingly frustrated with its attempts to rein in Israel’s military campaign.
The consequences of the distrust between President Biden and Netanyahu, who have spoken 18 times since Hamas’s Oct. 7 assault, have grown only starker in recent days. Biden now appears to be trying to draw a line with Israel’s proposed military operation on Rafah where 1.1 million Palestinians—many of them displaced—now reside.

IN THE first part of this essay yesterday I explained how Biden’s unhinged foreign policy precipitated the destruction of Ukraine. Yet while the horrors of Bakhmut and the Donbas were unfolding, another of Biden’s utopian delusions was germinating in the Middle East. His government inherited the region from Trump in a subdued state: ISIS had been shattered swiftly in 2017; the Iranian regime was first suppressed by sanctions and then shocked by the 2020 assassination of the military commander Qasem Soleimani, and Israeli security commitments were bolstered by the recognition of Jerusalem as its official capital.

But as Uwe Alschner points out*, “politics is all about taking orders.” There is an oligarchy of central banking cartels that has determined the foreign policy for Great Britain, Europe, Russia, and the US starting before the First World War. Now they have created chaos in the US intended to lead to the destruction of the US, if not all sovereign nations of the earth.

The Biden administration is reaping the whirlwind of its deluded foreign policy. On its watch, a dreadful war against the Russian behemoth has essentially been lost, after two years of wasteful struggle. And now, through Biden’s years-long appeasement of Iran’s malignant ayatollahs, the Middle East is in flames. As the election approaches, it is apparent that this administration has tied itself two lethal Gordian Knots abroad. Crucially, like its unprecedented domestic failings, these entanglements are in fact the self-inflicted manifestations of the naïve and radical utopianism at the heart of a movement of which Biden is the mere figurehead.
Peloni: US assets can be used to protect the UAE, Qatar and other Sunni ‘allies’ in the region, but it seems that those same assets can not be used to protect US forces in the region. The absurd relationship established by this one sided alliance demonstrate the degree to which US standing in the region has crumbled. Israel alone remains America’s true ally in the region, even as the current administration is abusing that alliance to Israel’s detriment.

Today’s revelation suggesting that Russia intends to deploy a space based nuclear weapon has elicited demands that the Biden administration tell the American people what the intelligence reports say, and that the information should all be declassified.
We now await a decision on this by Biden’s National Security Council. Jake Sullivan, the President’s National Security Advisor, is preparing to brief Members of Congress on the Intelligence Committee. At the same time it is reported that all congressmen and women have been informed in messages. Exactly what the administration’s information is, and how big a threat we face, is not yet clear.

When the Wall Street Journal ran an op-ed by a counterterrorism researcher exposing support for terrorism in Dearborn, MI, Biden didn’t condemn the hate, he condemned the op-ed.
“Americans know that blaming a group of people based on the words of a small few is wrong. That’s exactly what can lead to Islamophobia and anti-Arab hate, and it shouldn’t happen to the residents of Dearborn,” Biden tweeted.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not send a delegation back to Cairo tomorrow for further talks on a hostage deal with Hamas, Walla reports.
Egypt and Qatar are looking to build momentum in the talks, and are looking to hold meetings tomorrow that avoid the main sticking point: the number of Palestinian prisoners Israel has to release in a potential deal. According to the report, tomorrow’s talks would focus on humanitarian aspects of an agreement.

Peloni: Among other matters, Caroline raises the point that Israel must stop end its praise for Biden and his allies in Washington amid the accelerating conflict being raised between the govts of Israel and the US. This echoes statement by Mike Doran and others who have noted that it is impossible for Israel’s allies in the US to successfully challenge the actions of the administration as he is being showered with praise from Israel which only serves to provide political cover to Biden and his Obama acolytes as they persist with their realignment with the Iranians and their allies in Gaza and the PA. Meanwhile, Ehud Barak and his allies are trying to raise support for Biden’s proposed Pal state among Americans. Israel’s allies require clarity and a focused direction thru which to express their support for Israel, and this begins with such efforts as Bibi has begun to press in public in recent days.

1. President Biden will recognize a Palestinian state in the early summer.
“We support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and we do a lot of work inside the government to think about how to bring that about,” said State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller on January 31. Jerusalem absorbed the full weight of this statement during Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent visit to Israel. Last Friday, Maariv, a major Israeli newspaper, reported on the dismay Israeli officials felt over “the Biden administration falling in love with the idea of the establishment of a Palestinian state and unilateral recognition as a means of pressure on Israel.”
