SHYLOCK AT THE HAGUE: Embracing Shylock and Disdaining the International Criminal Court

By Howard Rotberg, NER

“As for legal niceties, the team of august lawyers Israel summoned to the Hague gives a shot in the arm to the ICJ, signalling that Israel concedes the case can be won on legalities. Israel was naive to rely only on jurists to defeat antisemites. One expert on anti-Israel propaganda could be worth a bench full of gowns.”  – Steve Apfel

Vote of confidence in Israel’s economy in the face of war

By Amb. (ret.) Yoram Ettinger, “Second Thought: a US-Israel Initiative”
January 16, 2024,

Irrespective of Israel’s wars against Hamas and Hezbollah, Intel, the semiconductor giant, confirmed a $25 billion investment in Israel, leveraging Israel’s brain power, which has enhanced Intel’s competitiveness in the global market.  Over the last 50 years, Intel has invested over $50 billion in Israel, establishing 4 research and development centers, despite the potential for wars and actual wars and terrorism.

Intel will expand its Israeli chip factory, in order to diversify its manufacturing potential amid a chip arms race (New York Times, December 27, 2023).*Challenged by a unique environment – top heavy on terrorism and war, but low on natural resources and rainfall – Israel has bolstered its do-or-die state of mind, with defiance of odds, risk-taking, frontier, pioneering, optimism, patriotism, can-do and out-of-the-box mentality. This has yielded a robust flow of game-changing commercial, defense and dual-use technologies.

The Scoop

Commanders and advisors from Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are on the ground in Yemen and playing a direct role in Houthi rebel attacks on commercial traffic in the Red Sea.

The IRGC has stationed missile and drone trainers and operators in Yemen, as well as personnel providing tactical intelligence support to the Houthis, U.S. and Middle East officials told Semafor. The IRGC, through its overseas Qods Force, has also overseen the transfer to the Houthis of the attack drones, cruise missiles, and medium-range ballistic missiles used in a string of strikes on Red Sea and Israeli targets in recent weeks, these officials said.

Into the Fray: Incredible imbecility

By Martin Sherman

The historical record bodes ill for initiatives to engineer a Pax Israeliana (an Israel induced peace) between Israel and its Arab adversaries.

Why Do The U.S. And Israel Tolerate Qatar’s Blatant Anti-U.S. And Anti-Israel Policies?

By: Yigal Carmon, MEMRI

The Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab mosque in Doha (Source: Al-sharq.com, August 4, 2022).

Introduction

Two developments with dangerous and even explosive repercussions for the standing and interests of both the U.S. and Israel in the Middle East occurred in the last few days.

1. The U.S. has extended its presence at Qatar’s Al-Udeid airbase – CENTCOM’s main airbase in the region – for another 10 yearsIn recent weeks, there has been criticism of Qatar for its sponsoring of terrorism, causing President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to maintain ambiguity about the future of the U.S.-Qatar alliance. This follows years of frequent undeserved U.S. praise for Qatar.

A bomb is just a bomb: Intent, strategy, and will make it mean something

As time goes by.

By J.E. Dyer, OPTIMISTIC CONSERVATIVE     15 January 2024

Bonus: the Houthis are firing at U.S.-linked shipping.

Moreover, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed credit itself for an attack in Iraq that would equate to the most recent attack on U.S. assets in Erbil.

That’s a major escalation:  an “in your face” political signal.

We are winning, despite the media failing us once again

It is the tiny disconnected far left elites in the media, universities, and Jewish-progressive foundations who have tremendous influence on IDF senior officials and career government staff, many of them retired failures, and want us to repeat their terrible mistakes.

By Avi Abelow, INN      Jan 16, 2024, 7:00 AM

Senior leadership of IDF and Shabak are now “advising” the government to allow Arab Muslim workers from Judea and Samaria to work in Jewish communities throughout Israel again as well as advising the government to strengthen the Palestinian Authority.

Many Israelis are in shock, because that was the exact “expert” advice they gave about allowing Gaza workers to work in Israel and giving Hamas money, to help them out economically and prevent terror. In the end, the massacre on Oct. 7th proved that theory tragically wrong. In the end, Gazan workers acted as spies, took part in the massacre, and celebrated with the whole Gazan population as the massacre was taking place. Israelis are in shock that the defense establishment is still stuck with the flawed strategic thinking of Oct. 6th!

Scott Ritter: Yemen, Iran JOIN WAR & US Military is NOT READY for Israel Middle East Powder Keg

T. Belman. Ritter shows himself as antisemitic and pro-Palestinian. That aside he paints a very bleak picture for Israel and the US. Neither can sustain a regional war economically. The US can’t defeat the Houthies backed by Iran and Israel can’t defeat Hezbollah. If Israel attacks Lebanon, she may lose the Galilee to Hezbollah. China and Russia are lurking in the background, looking to take advantage of any opportunites that may arise.

Whether you agree with him or not, you should be aware of his arguments, Macgregor also paints a bleak picture for Israel and even said Israel will not exist in 20 years. In his last video he also claims that Eliminating the US Military from the ME is inevitable. Glick says Eisenkop wants Israel to accept defeat and cut her losses. So who is gas-lighting whom?

Peloni : May the best man win…What happens when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force. We will see come November when Trump wins his historic third election in a row against the Uniparty’s best efforts of skullduggery, shenanigans, and cheating.

AP News, January 15, 2024

Donald Trump has won the Iowa Republican caucuses. The Associated Press declared the former president the winner based on an analysis of early returns as well as results of AP VoteCast. Israel Update: WHY DID THE IDF FAIL ON OCT. 7?

Peloni:  An important discussion relating to the October 7 failures by the IDF.  Also Mike raises the concern that the war with Hamas has shifted the priorities from Iran to Hamas on a host of different ways, and thereby provides Iran with just one more victory to hearald from October 7.  In addition to this, Gadi raises the issue that Israel ‘dodged the bullet’ on October 7 when Hamas acted alone in attacking Israel.  Mike and Gadi both agree that this war was intended to be waged after Iran had the bomb, but that Hamas ‘jumped the gun’.  A very informative conversation as usual.

BY Michael Doran & Gadi Taub, Tablet    JANUARY 14, 2024

A newly published investigative piece in Israel’s daily Yedioth Ahronoth recounts the blow by blow failure of Israel’s army on that fateful morning. How could a low-tech relatively small terror organization outsmart a high-tech giant with a modern state behind it? Michael Doran and Gadi Taub discuss the main findings. Evidently, Hamas understood exactly how the IDF operates, while the IDF made erroneous speculations about Hamas’s intentions at the expense of studying its MO and its capabilities.

Ben Gvir: Our Questions Make Gantz and Gallant Uncomfortable

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS                          14 January 2024

Following a Saturday night report that Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had stormed out of a war cabinet meeting when his aides were asked to leave, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir attacked Gallant and Minister Benny Gantz in an interview on the popular right-wing news panel, “The Patriots.”

Ben Gvir’s main point was that Gantz and Gallant don’t like it when fellow ministers ask them tough questions during cabinet meetings.

“I’ll put it this way,” Ben Gvir told the right-wing Channel 14 panel, “There are those who try to silence us. It’s no secret that we ask questions, myself, Miri Regev, Smotrich, too. And unfortunately, there is someone out there who wants to discourage us from asking questions.”

Iranian born expert Eliahu Yosian: Hebrew-Arab NATO should be established

T. Belman. In my 2022 Webinar, Mudar Zahran spoke about  Jordan’s Future Between the Abraham Accords and an Arab NATO

Middle East expert, Eliahu Yosian, suggests setting up an Israeli-Arab NATO training unit: ‘We have technology and cyber skills and they have money and depth. An Israeli soldier has three years experience, we can train them in our combat methods.’

Iranian born Middle East expert, Eliahu Yosian, spoke with Arutz Sheva – Israel National News at the convention ‘Lessons from Gaza’ of the Sovereignty Movement.

“We will not eliminate Hamas by killing terrorists and destroying the Gaza Strip that will only be reinstated by Qatar”, Yosian emphasizes, “The appropriate response is to take the land from them”.

How can a Woke West defeat radical Islam?

T. Belman.  I don’t think the vast majority of Westerners believe in woke values or principles. So, many governments including the US and Canada, impose these values on their citizens, whether they like them or not and fire you or imprison you or fine you if you object.  Their obsessive embrace of wokeness has made them totoliterian rather than democratic.

The answer is that it can’t. It is too obsessed with non-existent gender equity to even try.

By

The Welfare State, the great pride of Western civilization, the latest achievement of democracy of a civilized, democratic and well-fed West, has ended. The Toronto Sun reports that Canadian government websites no longer talk about “women”, but about “menstruating employees.”

People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier thunders against Trudeau’s “gender-obsessed” government which is waging a systematic attack on masculinity and turning men “into non-binary, trans, gender-fluid, weak and effeminate sissies.”
