Backing Iran’s protesters: The US should treat the Iranian threat as a first-tier problem

by Dr. Eric R. Mandel, MEPIN

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discusses the protests in Iran with Iranian-American writer Roya Hakakian, Iranian-American activist Sherry Hakimi, and British-Iranian actress and activist Nazanin Boniadi at the State Department in Washington on October 14, 2022.

It would be a shame to miss the present opportunity to support the Iranian protesters fighting for their lives. For close to half a year, the Iranian people, first led by their women and then young adults, have called not only for better economic conditions, as they have in the past, but for wholesale regime change.

Israel, a Democracy

by Steve Kramer

There’s way too much hysteria from the left wing over proposed legislation in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset. Where do world leaders like Secretary of State Antony Blinken and French President Emmanuel Macron get the hutzpah to lecture Israel’s elected representatives? It’s bad enough that the leaders of Israel’s previous left wing coalition  are acting as if the Supreme Court rules cannot be modified. This frenzy over the government’s projected but unspecified alterations to Israel’s Supreme Court is not the end of democracy – as is claimed – but the exercise of democracy. (This right wing government has a larger majority, 65 to 55, than the current American administration or the previous left wing Israeli administration.)

Let’s Make This Clear: Jordan is Palestine

Listen, Palestinian Arabs, If you want to march, march on Jordan.

By Matthew M. Hausman, Att’y   (Originally published on Mar 30. 2012)

The “Jordan-is-Palestine” option for resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict is an idea that, despite history and logic, was beaten into silence by Israel’s enemies and detractors. Critics denounced the concept as preposterous, reactionary and counterproductive.

And yet, the idea has been resurrected from within Jordan itself. There can be no dispute that Jordan was created in a sovereign vacuum on land that had comprised most of the Palestine Mandate. However, its creation as Transjordan in 1921 satisfied a geopolitical need unencumbered by a Palestinian national myth that had not yet been invented.

Ukraine said to demand Israel denounce Russia ahead of visit by FM

Kyiv also reportedly says government must agree to treat wounded soldiers, loan $500 million and more, with meeting between Eli Cohen and Zelensky hanging in balance

By ASH OBEL, TOI

Kyiv has formulated a list of demands it wants fulfilled by Foreign Minister Eli Cohen ahead of an expected visit to Ukraine, among them a public denunciation of the Russian invasion and hundreds of millions of dollars in loans.

The requests, which also include an expression of support for the country’s territorial integrity, medical treatment in Israel and the development of anti-missile technology, fall short of previous asks Kyiv has made for defensive weaponry, but may still force Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government into an uncomfortable stance as it seeks to navigate between the warring allies.

How ‘The Collective Voice of the Muslim World’ Weaponizes the UN against Israel

by Bassam Tawil, GATESTONE  •  February 6, 2023

  • OPEC and the OIC are infused with nearly incalculable wealth and most member states of the OIC have found themselves upbraided for questionable ethics.
  • One critic suggested: “If the OIC Summiteers are serious about the burning issues of justice, freedom and good governance, then they should schedule a special debate on the Transparency International’s (TI) 2003 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) which ranked 38 of the 57 OIC member nations in its latest chart of the corruption levels of 133 countries… [it] is dismal reading for OIC as it is an overall indictment of the failures of the OIC countries to grapple with the problem of corruption…”

Islam and Islamism

T. Belman.  In theory Mansur is probably correct. In practice though, the Islamists are so dominant that the moderates are afraid to speak out.  The doctrine of abrogation results in the later verses superseding the earlier ones. This doctrine must be expunged. A few years ago Al Sisi called for major reform and MBS is on record wanting reform.

Trump called for the defeat of Islamists “and their ideology”. When he visited Saudi Arabia in 2017 he met with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Riyadh and they agreed to set up Global Center for Combating Extremism  intended as a centre of excellence for fighting violent extremism which is conducive to terrorism. That’s a start.

by Salim Mansur, Gatestone Institute July 23, 2013

Since 9/11 the West has been confounded with the question whether Islam and Islamism are one and same, or if there is a critical distinction to be drawn between the two. How this question is answered has profound implications for understanding and explaining the immense convulsion seizing the Muslim world, and on how best to frame a proper response without undermining or eroding the secular and liberal democratic culture of the West.

Iran, Israel, and the United States government

T. Belman. Levoritz argues that the US and other globalists don’t want Israel to be able to defend itself or to out-compete the US.  Is he right?

By Jerold Levoritz, AM THINKER

No one offers a reasonable explanation for Biden begging Iran to rejoin the debunked, tawdry, ineffective, and cynical agreement to keep nuclear weapons out of Iranian hands, if just for a while.  Israel keeps providing updates on how close the Iranians are to completing their weapons of mass destruction.  The U.S. government “cooperates” with Israel, holding joint exercises, but keeps weapons out of Israel’s hands that could bring the Iranian project to a screeching halt — namely, bunker-busters and the means to deliver them.

By Michael Ordman, VGNI

The photo is one of the mind-blowing exhibits at the Museum of Medicine and Science in Hadera, central Israel.

This week’s newsletter is packed with life-enhancing creations from the minds of Israeli scientists, entrepreneurs and innovators. Cell therapy to fix genetic diseases; Artificial Intelligence to diagnose diseases from biopsies, from retina scans, and from CT-scans; even smart systems to ensure hospitals are never short of essential supplies.

Scientific breakthroughs include efficient fusion energy, satellite quantum communications, growing vegan super-food indoors; heat-generating polymers; sunglasses that convert to reading glasses; continuous mobile Internet; and intelligent robots to replace unresponsive customer service centers.

In the 5th Feb 23 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include:

Study Reveals Major Failings in New York Times’ Coverage of Israel

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS

Here are some facts: there has been a dramatic increase in negative coverage of Israel in the New York Times since the November election, and the paper’s coverage of Israel was mostly negative under the former government as well. The Times also failed to cover terror organizations’ activity during 2022 which saw a peak in terrorism. And the Times published 20 negative op-eds about Israel in 2022, compared to only 13 about Iran – during the year that saw Iranian government forces massacring and hanging protesters.

Equity is the New Communism

By Daniel Greenfield

The Biden administration is ordering state and local governments to submit ‘equity plans’ or lose federal funding. This latest shot in the long “war against the suburbs” is part of former Rep. Marcia L. Fudge’s plan, as the boss of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, to “weave equity throughout HUD’s work”.

Netanyahu aims to fill West Bank with high-speed tunnels, in vision laid out by Musk

T. BELMAN. The Arabs don’t care about contiguity. They have done nothing to achieve it since 1995. Besides there are different clans in each Area A as Kedar has pointed out. In any event no tunnels should be built before the final settlement.

I would though favour a high speed tunnel from Ramallah to Jordan. The other A’s can also be connected to it. This will cement the idea among Palestinians, that Jordan is their home and future.

Premier floats plans during meeting in Paris with French businesspeople, says it could allow for territorial contiguity between settlements and for Palestinians

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed building a network of underground highway systems across the West Bank to enable the maintenance of territorial contiguity for both Israeli settlements and Palestinian towns, The Times of Israel’s sister site, Zman Yisrael, reported Saturday.

Prospects for an armistice in Ukraine War

T, Belman. I recently posted Armistice or annihilation—Ukraine’s end game which contained an interview of Mansur. I exchanged some emails with him about it as I knew him from his participation in my conference in 2017 on the Jordan Option. His talk is contained in Salim Mansur: “Jordan is Palestine”.

I don’t see an armistice taking hold until Russia consolidates it hold on Crimea and the four provinces or until the West concedes them.

By Salim Mansur

I mostly agree with Peloni that the collective West led by the U.S. is, as Putin and the leadership in Moscow have repeatedly said, “not-agreement capable.” In other words, there is no basis any more for Moscow to trust any Western/American leader, and especially those presently ruling, with whom they can negotiate an agreement that will be honoured in the West. The Minsk Agreements (I and II) erased all trust in Moscow of the post-1992 leadership in the collective West.

Biggest Gift to Iran’s Mullahs, China and Russia: Biden Administration’s Weak Leadership

by Majid Rafizadeh, GATESTONE  •  February 4, 2023

  • Thanks to the Biden administration’s weak and vacillating leadership, Iran, Russia and China have been emboldened to levels never before seen.
  • [T]he Biden administration has not been taking any action to deter, disincentivize or punish those who breach the sanctions. Ever since the Biden administration assumed office, in fact, Iran’s oil exports have been on the rise… of which more than 800,000 barrels a day are being exported to China.

Trump Announces Plan To Combat Radical Gender Ideology

DEEP STATE TRIBUNAL

Former President Donald Trump revealed his agenda to counter radical gender ideology in the nation’s schools and prohibit so-called “gender-affirming” care on minors.

In a video posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, the 2024 presidential candidate vowed to “stop the chemical, physical and emotional mutilation of our youth” and to stand against “left-wing gender insanity.”

What Blinken refuses to see

The U.S. secretary of state’s statements on his visit to Israel demonstrated how deeply blood libels have seeped into the Biden administration’s thinking about the Jewish state.

By Caroline Glick, jns

(February 3, 2023 / JNS)The 21-year-old who massacred seven Jews and wounded another five when he opened fire on them as they left synagogue last Friday night in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem wasn’t a lone wolf. Neither was the 13-year-old boy who shot a Jewish father and son Saturday afternoon as they walked home from synagogue in Ir David in Jerusalem. How do we know?

Blinken’s focus on democracy could also be sign of US desire to cooperate on Iran

Secretary’s insistence on consensus, implied criticism of Netanyahu’s judicial overhaul reflect US concerns, but ex-envoy says Biden needs quiet to enable joint effort on Tehran

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken isn’t the first senior US official to take shots at Israeli democracy.

Referencing gender segregation on Haredi buses and religious IDF soldiers walking out of a concert by a female singer, former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton in 2011 compared parts of Israel to Iran and the US south under Jim Crow laws.

Leon de Winter:’In 2048 the last Jews will leave Europe’

“It’s over,” said the late Hebrew U. antisemitism expert Robert Wistrich. “It’s a slow death.” It is actually speeding up. Op-ed.

“With the number of Jews plummeting from 3,000 to 600 in just a few years, the Swedish city of Malmö is the barometer of the slow demise of European Jews after the Holocaust,” wrote the late great Holocaust historian Robert Wistrich.

He continued: “It is not for nothing that former European Commissioner Frits Bolkestein advised the Jewish community of Holland to emigrate to avoid harassment by young Muslim fanatics. The prospects in Belgium and Norway are no better. The verdict is on the wall, for anyone with eyes to see. The reward for Europe’s regrettable and cowardly appeasement of Islamism will, however, be short-lived. Because bowing down and willful blindness come at a high cost in the long run. Muslims will eventually take their revenge on a European society that the most fanatical among them already loathe.”
