The undeniable link between antisemitism and America’s decline – opinion

It Starts With The Jews But Never Ends With The Jews.

It has become a truism that Jews are history’s “canary in the coal mine”. Across cultures and continents, where Jews have flourished, so have the societies around them. Where Jews have faced persecution and expulsion, it is usually a sign that darker forces are taking hold that will degrade, diminish, and often, destroy the broader society.

The examples of this phenomena are numerous and profound. Spain’s golden era of Jewish achievement brought unprecedented success to the Kingdom. Its expulsion of the Jews resulted in the country’s ultimate decline. Jews were central to Germany’s vibrant intellectual, artistic, and economic life in the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. Hitler’s evil and irrational hatred not only decimated European Jewry, but it also destroyed Germany, and tens of millions of lives across Europe as well.

What Caused the Anti-Trump Hysteria?

The main perpetrators ignored the ancient law of “what goes around comes around.”

The Left has gone mad over former President Donald J. Trump — past, present, and future.

The current Democratic Party and NeverTrump “conservatives” assumed that Trump was and remains so obviously toxic that they do not have to define exactly what his evil entails.

Accordingly, they believe that any means necessary are justified to stop him. And furthermore, these zealots, when out of power, insist such extraordinary measures should not be emulated and institutionalized by their opponents, much less ever boomeranged back upon their creators.

The Ultimate Arms Deals: Why Washington is so Eager to Support Ukraine

By Ned Barnett, AM THINKER

I thought the Afghanistan bug-out was the ultimate arms deal.

Biden abandoned billions of dollars of weapons, leaving them behind for the Taliban to enjoy.  Which meant that our military – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines – were out a lot of weapons and vehicles, aircraft and drones, and God alone knows what else.  When you’re in the middle of a bug-out, it’s hard to find the time to go take an inventory of equipment you’ll never see again.  Why we didn’t use a little C-4, which we were probably abandoning as well – to render all of those vehicles inoperable (a fancy term that means terminally broken) I’ll never know.  There must have been an angle.

Biden Tells Israel to Give Money to Terrorists, Not Terror Victims

By Daniel Greenfield, 16.1.23

The Biden administration condemned Israel for giving $39 million in tax revenues to the victims of terrorism instead of the terrorists.

<
>
“It is morally just and important for the war against terror. There is no greater justice than using the funds for the victims of terror,” Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said of the move.

Kevin McCarthy – Worth the Wait

Netanyahu and McCarthy both had an arduous and grueling struggle to get to their respective positions. Both persevered and succeeded.

Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., is sworn in as House SpeakerReuters/Craig Hudson/Sipa USA

After 15 rounds and 4 days of wrestling and wrangling, Congressman Kevin McCarthy was voted in as Speaker of the House of Representatives. The last time the process required multiple ballots was in 1855. In 2023 the proceedings were relatively tame compared to then. In that pre- Civil War environment it took 133 rounds and two months to pick a Speaker. The Speaker is second in line after the Vice President to become President in case of a need for succession. Interestingly, after the Speaker the law of succession is as follows: President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury, and Secretary of Defense. Secretary of Transportation is way down on the list.

  • Chinese law requires all Chinese companies to turn over information to the Communist Party upon request — and ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, reportedly employs more than 130 Party members to ensure compliance, among other matters.
  • “Its algorithm is at once simple and sinister. Download the app on your smartphone and you have given China access to all your data… And history shows they use that data for nefarious purposes.” — Adonis Hoffman, The Hill, October 18, 2022.

The American Billionaires Behind the Far-right Attempt to Destroy Liberal Israel

Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s judicial overhaul was apparently written by the Kohelet Policy Forum, one of the best-funded research institutes in Israel, which advances nationalist, libertarian policies – and is funded by two American billionaires

The country is in turmoil over the fast-track legislation submitted last week by Justice Minister Yariv Levin to give the Knesset the power to override Supreme Court decisions, give politicians a majority of votes on the judicial selection committee and do away with the courts’ reasonableness standard. In addition, a bill proposed by Simcha Rothman, chairman of the Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee, would allow ministers to choose their own legal advisers.

Israel’s Democracy Is Endangered – But Not for the Reason You Think

by Victor Rosenthal

Israel’s new government is being hammered by an unprecedented political and media blitz, focusing on its intention to restore checks and balances between the judiciary and the Knesset. “If this government does not fall,” says opposition leader Yair Lapid, “Israel will cease to be a liberal democracy,” and its artistic, cultural, and business elites will flee to Berlin and Miami. David Horowitz, editor of the English-language Times of Israelwrote that the proposals “sounded the death knell for our thriving but inadequately entrenched democracy.” Former Defense Minister Benny Gantz referred (Heb.) to the plan as a “coup d’état,” said that it would lead to civil war, and called for opponents to “take to the streets.” Esther Hayut, the President [Chief Justice] of Israel’s Supreme Court, contended that

Will Russia sell Sukhoi-35 fighter jets and other equipment to Iran?

By Ted Belman

Shahriar Heidari, a member of the National Security Council in Iran, announced in a press interview today that Russia will provide Iran with fourth-generation Sukhoi-35 fighter jets as early as the Persian New Year (March 21). Additionally, Russia reportedly plans to also supply Iran with helicopters, tanks, and defense systems.

I don’t believe it.  Russia is in the middle of a long gruelling war. Surely now is not the time to sell its hardware.

25 Years After Oslo: The Elephant in the Room

T. Belman. What more is there to say. So much for the vaunted Res 242 and its land for peace principle.

By Robert L. Meyer

It is now more than 25 years since the Oslo Accords were signed in October 1993. Yet in the many published opinion pieces and reporting on this anniversary and the failure of the parties to agree on a final two-state solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, nowhere is found any Israeli politician or journalist who has the slightest inkling of the massive effect of Islam in influencing and motivating the Palestinian supposed peacemakers.

Islam is indeed “The Elephant in the Room.”

So Much More! – Israel’s Positive Newsletter to 15th Jan 23

By Michael Ordman, VGNI

There has been so much more happening in Israel recently.  A higher number Israeli startups than ever were on display at CES Las Vegas, which handed out more CES awards to Israeli innovators. There was more European funding for Israeli agricultural technology; and another Israeli satellite was successfully launched. In the health arena, Israeli doctors have again been treating patients in Africa; a further 1000 Europeans and Israelis can walk without pain thanks to Israeli knee implants; and a UAE sheikh was more than happy with the medical treatment he received in an Israeli hospital.

Elsewhere, Israel sent another hundred power generators to Ukraine and even more are on their way; more Israeli women are being encouraged to pursue careers in hi-tech; and $2 billion of extra funds were raised for Israel’s zero emissions target.  Finally, additional archaeological discoveries are further evidence of Jewish links to the Land of Israel. I’m sure that’s more than enough for this introduction.

In the 15th Jan 23 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include:

How Fighting ‘Islamophobia’ Leads to Theocracy

By Daniel Greenfield, 14 Jan

The decision by Hamline University to purge a minority art teacher for showing a Shiite painting of Mohammed has traveled from the outskirts of a few blogs, and a student paper of the small private college in St. Paul, to art sites, a PEN condemnation and finally the New York Times.

<
>
Erika Lopez Prater, an adjunct at Hamline, showed a Persian painting of Mohammed to her class. Aram Wedatalla, a president of the Muslim Student Association, objected. The MSA rallied to denounce her, along with its advisor, Nur Mood: the college’s Assistant Director of Social Justice Programs. The Latina professor was dumped and condemned as an Islamophobe. Jaylani Hussein, CAIR-Minnesota’s director came in to hold a session on Islamophobia. The MSA and CAIR have both been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Question That Khamenei Faces

By Amir Taheri, GATESTONE  •  January 15, 2023

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

  • The visit to Pyongyang was Khamenei’s the Road to Damascus moment. The lesson he learned was simple: Let others idolize you and, if things turn badly, blame those who idolize you. And, if you are in a position of weakness, just appear as a nobody or play village idiot until the tide turns in your favor.
  • [W]hen Khamenei was forced to enter center stage last week, it was clear that his usual tactics hadn’t worked.
