Freedom of Access and Worship on the Temple Mount

FROM THE SUPREME COURT OF ISRAEL (“Justice”, No. 2, Summer 1994)

Civil Appeal 67/93, “Kach” and the Jewish Defence League v. Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Police and others, 4.4.1993. P”M 47(2) 1. Before Justices Barak, Goldberg and Matza

Precis:

The Supreme Court has consistently held in the past that the right of Jews to engage in prayers on the Temple Mount is to be determined solely by the executive authorities responsible for public order and safety, headed by the government of the State of Israel. This case was an attempt to circumvent this ruling by asserting the right of Jews to conduct prayers on the Temple Mount, within the framework of their statutory right to freedom of access.

‘Poison, lies’: Israeli, Palestinian envoys spar at fiery UN session on Temple Mount

T. Belman. Erdan spoke well.  “For years the Palestinians have orchestrated and advanced a poisonous campaign to obliterate any connection between the Jewish people and the Temple Mount,”  and “Tragically, the Palestinian terror authority prefers violence over tolerance. They are so intolerant that they not only want to ban Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount but also Jewish visitors. Pure antisemitism,”

Israel’s laws and Supreme Court rulings protect the freedoms of conscience, faith, religion, and worship, regardless of an individual’s religious affiliation. The Status Quo Agreement” shouldn’t be justification for denying Jewish worship on the Temple Mount.

NEW YORK — Israel’s envoy to the United Nations lashed the Palestinians for what he described as “poison and lies” at an emergency Security Council session on National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s recent visit to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

The council’s members, including the US, repeatedly stressed the importance of maintaining the status quo at the flashpoint compound, while the Palestinians warned of violence and denied any Israeli claim to the site, the holiest in Judaism.

The Rule of Law or the Rule of lawyers.

By Malcolm Dash, IISS      7.3.16

To lose our country by a scrupulous adherence to the written law, would be to lose the law itself, with life, liberty, property and all those who are enjoying them with us; thus absurdly sacrificing the ends to the means.  – Thomas Jefferson, September 20, 1810

Israel, like any vibrant functioning democracy, needs a strong, independent judiciary – to interpret the law, not to make it.

Europe at the Mercy of Qatar?

By Drieu Godefridi, GATESTONE  •  January 6, 2023

  • The stadiums for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar were built in conditions described as slave-like and hellish. For ten years, armies of Asian workers were put to work for miserable wages in wretched living conditions. According to the Guardian, since the emirate was awarded the World Cup, 6,500 workers died on Qatar’s construction sites. This carnage did not predestine Qatar for praise from the Socialist Group in the European Parliament.
  • “The recent backroom deal approved by the Bureau to appoint a new EP Secretary-General is emblematic of an institution that thinks that rules for ethics and integrity should only apply to others.” — Michiel van Hulten, director of Transparency International EU, December 10, 2022.

Temple Mount Controversy- blame Moshe Dayan, not Ben-Gvir

Even followers of Islam considered the Temple Mount to be the location of the Jewish Holy Temples, but in 1967, Moshe Dayan gave control over it to the Muslim Wakf. Op-ed.

Ben Gvir on the Temple MountPublic relations

Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir’s visited the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest spot where the first and second Holy Temples stood. Many countries worldwide have quickly raced to a microphone to condemn the Jewish State for the horrible crime of a Jew walking across the faith’s holiest site. He did not pray, of course, as only Muslims are permitted to pray atop the Mount. Despite the international condemnation of a Jew walking through his faith’s holiest site, the real inciter of the condemnation was Moshe Dayan.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict can’t be solved, only ended – opinion

The most practical and realistic alternative to the 2SS is to recognize Jordan as the homeland of the Palestinians – all of those who want to live in peace.

What if there is no solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? What if it never ends?

What if the reason for the conflict is a confusion of terminology: that it is not between Arab Palestinians and Israelis, but between Muslim Arabs and Jews – i.e., a religious conflict? The conflict, therefore, is not only about territory, but about Jewish history and the rights of the Jewish people.

Jordan’s King is Weak and Fragile, Still, Hamzah Has No Chance

JaFaJ INTELLIGENCE January 3, 2023

Jordan’s King is Weak and Fragile, Still, Hamzah Has No Chance
——————————————————————————–
1. Summary: Jordan has been spiralling into unrest since early December. An ongoing national strike in protests of the King’s economic policies has blossomed into civil disobedience. In response, King Abdullah has recklessly dealt with those taking part in the strike (demonstrators), with the “heavy hand of oppression.” This has made the public more defiant and deepened the crisis. At the same time, some of the very few remaining loyalists to the King’s half-brother, Hamzah, have rekindled their hope of him replacing his brother as King. Still, Hamzah lacks any serious public support or access to either Jordan’s intelligence or army, therefore his chances of ever becoming King are null.

The Mandate for Palestine

By Robert Meyer

Israel must remain both strong and morally committed to Zionism, Judaism and the future of the State of Israel. This strength includes having the international legal basis for the State of Israel well known and asserted both in Israel and international forums.

Today, the international legal rights of Israel to Eretz Yisrael are now more important than ever owing to the Netanyahu Government’s plans to be more active in Judea and Samaria. Please note my recent introduction to my speech which I have been circulating lately:

Time to stop fearing the Jew-Hating bullies and fight back!  Pikuach Nefesh

By Diane Bederman

Nothing unites the world like Jew hatred-from left and right and the centre

I apologize for the length of this article. It is much longer than most of my blogs. I tried to reduce the words by editing the number of Jew hating incidents reported in 2021-the most recent year of hate statistics…

Just a few minutes of Itamar Ben-Gvir’s defiant stroll on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount Tuesday were enough for the international community to make it clear to Benjamin Netanyahu that it has no patience for the whims of his new government.

The Architecture of Corruption: Why Elon Musk is Justified to Call for the Prosecution of Dr. Anthony Fauci

By Kent Heckenlively, AMER THINKER

Recently, Elon Musk tweeted out that his preferred pronouns are “prosecute/Fauci.”

Of course, the usual suspects in the media were clutching their pearls, screaming that Musk was putting the sainted Dr. Fauci at risk, while their daily attacks against conservatives (and even moderates) continue unabated.

I’ve been on the Fauci beat for about a decade. He was the primary focus of my first book, PLAGUE: One Scientist’s Intrepid Search for the Truth About Human Retroviruses and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Autism, and Other Diseases, co-authored with Dr. Judy Mikovits (a government scientist with twenty years of experience).

Growing UAE-Israel ties shows political intent to deepen relations between the two countries

NAVDEEP SURI and HARGUN SETHI

The bilateral relationship between Israel and UAE has moved ahead with surprising speed post the Abraham Accords

The signing of the Abraham Accords between UAE, Bahrain, and Israel in August 2020 opened up new possibilities for Israel to establish diplomatic ties with two key states in the Gulf. Morocco and Sudan followed soon, and as relations thawed with Saudi Arabia, it was clear that several Arab states were now willing to accept the political legitimacy of Israel.

Israel can normalize ties with Saudi Arabia- with Biden’s help

By John Hannah, JINSA

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has identified making peace with Saudi Arabia as among his highest foreign policy priorities. After a week-long visit to Riyadh in November with the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA), I’m more convinced than ever that such a peace is indeed possible. But I’m also convinced that it can’t be achieved without a major assist from President Joe Biden and improvement in US-Saudi relations.

The ground rules for our Riyadh meetings don’t allow me to attribute comments to specific Saudi leaders. But for what it’s worth, I’m confident that our sources were authoritative. On the question of normalizing relations with Israel, here’s the gist of what we heard:
