The Biden administration has authorized the transfer of $2.76 billion from Iraq to Iran, Reuters reported on June 10. The news comes within days of emerging reports that Washington hopes to trade Iranian funds trapped in foreign accounts for a halt to further nuclear escalation by Tehran. While the United States has issued sanctions waivers to allow Iraq to import electricity from Iran in the past, U.S. sanctions have prevented Tehran from repatriating funds paid into escrow in Baghdad.

According to all indications, the negotiations between the United States and Iran on a nuclear deal known as “freeze for freeze” – which is actually “quiet for money” – are on the verge of finalizing what the sides call “understandings” (as opposed to an official agreement).

The idea is to freeze Iran’s progress when it comes to highly enriched uranium in exchange for partial sanction relief (oil sales), the release of some frozen funds, and the freeing of prisoners. Presenting this as understandings and not as an agreement will likely allow the administration to avoid going to Congress, where it is likely to face fierce opposition.

Fox News reports that twenty Republicans in the House of Representatives sided with most Democrats in voting against a resolution that would have censured Rep. Adam Schiff, (D-Calif.), for repeatedly peddling the hoax that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.

The reprehensible Schiff was one of the foremost proponents of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax. He repeated the falsehood in every forum possible. With every appearance, the lies became more ridiculous. He even claimed that Trump was an asset to the Kremlin. This wasn’t a mistake on Schiff’s part.  Schiff knew these were fabrications but he said it anyway. His actions were purposeful and malicious. The Democrats had assigned him the task of running their biggest disinformation campaign and he did it without caring about the effects it would have on the nation.

Strategic adviser Roni Rimon believes that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to rethink his plans following the recent developments concerning the Judicial Selection Committee, a key part of the planned judicial reform.

Speaking with Israel National News – Arutz Sheva, Rimon said, “I did not expect that the coalition would down the vote or the request of the Prime Minister. It was unexpected and it is a very rare occurrence that the Prime Minister instructs his coalition partners to vote a certain way and they do not listen to him. Everything that happened surrounding the voting for the Judicial Selection Committee was an accumulation of rare events – in a situation which from the coalition’s perspective was very critical.”
