No, Iran Nuclear Deal Is Not Yet Dead and Russia Is Helping Iran Go Nuclear

by Majid Rafizadeh, GATESTONE  •  December 31, 2022

  • Evidently the lethal nuclear deal that will enable Iran to have all the nuclear weapons it wants and missiles with which to deliver them — and for which the Obama and Biden administrations have been pining for nearly a decade so that, most likely, Iran will not try them out on their watch but wait for somebody else’s — is not yet dead, according to reports from Israeli officials.
  • For the length of a coffee-break, there were rumors that, because the Iranian regime was sending drones to Russia to help crush Ukraine, the deal was – finally – off the table, supposedly for good. In what must be one of the shortest-lived policy decisions ever, that arrangement now seems off the table for good.

Israel should terminate the Oslo Accords

T. Belman. Israel’s rights to all the land west of the Jordan River have been compromised by the Oslo Accords. Israel has agreed, that notwithstanding  such rights, she will negotiate a settlement with the PA whereby they get an autonomous region with the boundaries to be negotiated. This is yet another reason to terminate the Accords.

Another reason for the neglect of our rights from San Remo is that it would make it harder for the left to achieve their vaunted TSS. What’s Bibi’s excuse?

Hopefully this government will reclaim our legal right to all the land.

If the Accords are terminated so is the obligation to negotiate.

By Ted Belman

Dozens of Knesset Members wrote a scathing letter to EU’s top officials accusing them of animus against Jews and Israel in light of leaked program on Area C,

Lazar Berman wrote a detailed article on the letter which was published by Times of Israel on Dec 21/22. It contained this gem;

Basic Principles of new Government

The Times of Israel’s translation of the basic principles of Israel’s 37th government:

  • The Jewish people have an exclusive and inalienable right to all parts of the Land of Israel. The government will promote and develop the settlement of all parts of the Land of Israel — in the Galilee, the Negev, the Golan and Judea and Samaria.
  • The government will actively work to boost national security and provide personal security to its citizens, while resolutely and determinedly fighting violence and terrorism.

Israel Palestinian Conflict: The Truth About the West Bank

T. Belman. Finally, the first principle of this government is, “The Jewish people have an exclusive and inalienable right to all parts of the Land of Israel.”
That’s what I have been waiting for. Thus the lands are no longer “disputed lands”.

Israel has legal rights, not just historical claims

By Ted Belman (Mar 16, 2016)

When Times of Israel published West Bank settlements are legal, Foreign Ministry asserts in Dec/15, I was generally pleased, thinking that the document the Foreign Ministry was publishing, supported the legality of the settlements. I assumed that it also asserted our rights to the land. I shouldn’t have assumed anything and I should have read the article.

[The document] states that Israel has “valid property claims” to West Bank territory, as “Jewish affinity” with the region and in cities such as Hebron is thousands of years old.

When reading this, I failed to notice that it didn’t support our “valid property claims” based on San Remo Resolution, The Palestine Mandate, and Article 80 of the UN Charter, which specifically preserves these rights. To my mind this was a huge omission and must have been intended.

The democratic will of the voters produced a historic government

Not only does Netanyahu’s government aspire to bring Israel four years of much-needed electoral stability, it will also focus on fixing critical components of Israel’s political system and careful liberal-traditional balance, to ensure the Jewish state is not once again thrown into chaos by destabilizing progressive forces

By  Alex Traiman, ISRAEL HAYOM

Israel inducted a historic right-wing government Thursday, led by three-time Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu’s return to power and the formation of a strong right-wing government is a tremendous achievement for a nation that has increasingly turned towards the right-wing values of strong security and protecting the Jewish character of the state.

Where the Netanyahu government differs from its predecessor

The new government is prepared to stand up to the Biden administration when necessary.

By Caroline Glick, INN        Dec 29, 2022, 11:28 PM

(JNS) With the swearing-in of the latest Netanyahu government, Israel will embark on a new course in foreign policy—and just in time. For the past year-and-a-half of the Bennett-Lapid-Gantz government, Israel’s foreign policy ceased to be independent. In the days and weeks before Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz formed their coalition, they committed themselves to a policy of “no surprises” for the Biden administration.

The European Union’s subversion of Israel

Israel’s Maccabean Three may be channelling Jewish history all over again

By MELANIE PHILLIPS

Maccabees; Wojciech Stattler, 1842

Liberal Jews in both the diaspora and Israel have been hyperventilating over the “extremist” ministers in the incoming government headed by Israeli Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu.

These are the rabble-rouser Itamar Ben-Gvir, the theocrat Bezalel Smotrich and the ultra-socially conservative Avi Maoz.

David Singer’s So-called Saudi Plan

By Ted Belman

David Singer has been alone in promoting the so-called, Saudi Plan, for the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine.  Arutz Sheva mistitled his last attempt as Israel set to uncork Hashemite Kingdom genie at UN.

Nowhere in the article is there any mention of Israel’s reaction to the “Saudi Plan” let alone its intention to promote it at the UN.

Not only has Israel not mentioned it, Saudi Arabia hasn’t either.

Facts most Arabs and a hostile world would rather not admit

Jews were the indigenous inhabitants of the Land for millennia long before the Islam was created. There were always Jews in the Land. Op-ed.

By Victor Sharpe, INN    Dec 30, 2022,

I was complimented some time ago by a reader of one of my earlier published articles, titled, Lies, Myths and Obama, which dealt – as many of them do – with the history of Israel and its enemies: Biblical and post-Biblical.

I had included in the article the following sentence: “Only one people has ever made Jerusalem its capital and only one people ever established their ancestral and Biblical homeland between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea: the Jews.”

‘Natural Right to the Land of Israel’: Netanyahu Lays Out Far-reaching West Bank Settlement Plans

The vague agreement says that incoming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will advance a framework to annex the West Bank, taking into consideration national and international interests??? ????
By Hagar Shezaf, HAARETZ

Benjamin Netanyahu’s incoming government’s coalition agreement begins with a declaration that the Jewish people have a “natural right” to the Land of Israel. Regarding annexation of the West Bank, the agreement remains vague but says the prime minister will advance policies within whose framework the West Bank will be annexed, taking into consideration timing and both international and national interests.

The new, new antisemitism

By Victor Davis Hanson, JWR    Dec. 29, 2022

The old antisemitism was more a right-wing than a left-wing phenomenon — perhaps best personified by the now-withered Ku Klux Klan. A new antisemitism followed from the campus leftism of the 1960s. It arose from and was masked by a general hatred of Israel, following the Jewish state’s incredible victory in the 1967 Six-Day War.

That lopsided triumph globally transformed Israel in the leftist mind from a David fighting the Arab Goliath into a veritable Western imperialist, neocolonialist overdog.

Restricting Israel’s Law of Return Means Destroying Jewish Peoplehood

If Netanyahu’s new government really does alter Israel’s magnificent Law of Return, it would be both a symbolic tragedy and a crazy blow to how many Jews around the world relate to Israel

By Yizhar Hess, HAARETZ

Israel’s Law of Return is the expression of a deep-rooted sense of historical responsibility and strategic vision for a small people, a third of whom were murdered over the last centuryCredit: Moti Milrod

If Israel had a constitution, the Law of Return would certainly be one of its first articles. Celebratory. Magnificent. The cornerstone of the national home for a people that was scattered among the nations of the world and which now has a state of its own. The Law of Return is the reason we are here. Conceived in the early days of Israeli legislation and voted on in 1950 by the Knesset on the 20th of Tammuz 5709, the Hebrew anniversary of Herzl’s death. The law was adopted unanimously; not a single MK dared to vote against it.

Commentary: Coalition Agreements Give Netanyahu Veto Power in Judea and Samaria

By Dr. Aaron Lerner, IMRA      29 December 2022

Copies of the coalition agreements are available on the Knesset website:

The phrase which probably appears in the agreements with the greatest frequency in sections dealing with Judea and Samaria is “in coordination and subject to the consent of the prime minister”.

Will a Spark in Jordan Ignite the Kingdom?

The death of a Jordanian police officer during riots that began with fuel price protests in Jordan appears to represent a rare and violent challenge to authority. The incident took place in the southern city of Ma’an.

“The authorities said the policeman was killed on Thursday night by a gunshot fired by an unidentified individual when armed officers entered a neighborhood of Ma’an to quell riots,” Al Jazeera reported. “Youths had attacked government property in the city.”

The anti-Netanyahu resistance is playing with fire

A false narrative about the new government’s extremism – spread by both Lapid and left-wing rabbis – will aid the cause of anti-Zionists, not just Netanyahu’s critics.

By  Jonathan S. Tobin, ISRAEL HAYOM

Like the Democrats who went into the streets in their millions the weekend Donald Trump was inaugurated president in January 2017, Benjamin Netanyahu’s foes clearly intend to act as a “resistance,” rather than a loyal opposition.

Netanyahu and his right-wing and religious coalition partners won a clear majority in the 120-seat Knesset, with 64 seats over the collection of left-wing, formerly right-wing and Arab political parties that ran Israel for the last 18 months. Yet, as is the case in the United States, politics in Israel has become a tribal culture war. But even if everyone has become inured to a situation in which two sides view each other as not merely wrong, but enemies of decency and democracy, with Netanyahu’s new government set to be sworn in on Thursday, his opponents are playing with fire.

The Son of a Holocaust Survivor Weaponizes Books to Stop Another Shoah

T. Belman. I first connected with Howard when he started Mantua Books. Since then I have promoted his books and he has generously donated money in support of Israpundit. I too was born in Canada but in my case to two immigrants from Poland who came to Canada in the twenties. You will recall that the US shut the door to Jewish Immigration in the early twenties, ergo Canada. My father’s family were attracted to Communism and my mother’s family were attracted to Zionism.

  • By September 2022 Australia had logged more than 10 million COVID-19 cases, even though 20 million of Australia’s total population of 26 million had received their COVID jabs

Jews: Who Knew?

T. Belman.  In 2007, COMMENTARY MAGAZINE published “Jewish Genius” by Charles Murray, the author of “The Bell Curve”.  Its a classic.

By Debbie Jones Thornton  5/10/2020

The last paper I wrote for Proteus was about words, which is a topic that I actually know something about. My topic today is more risky, since it is about Jews, and I am not Jewish. (Full disclosure: my sister married a Jewish man and became a convert, but I’m pretty sure you can’t be considered Jewish via sibling.) This paper had its genesis at Drew Rosenberg’s bar mitzvah in 2003. When I walked in to Tifereth Israel Synagogue, I was immediately struck by Andy Warhol’s series of silkscreen prints and paintings entitled, “Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century” (1980).
