A barebones framework for a deal with Hamas would see all civilian hostages held by the Palestinian terror group in Gaza freed over a six-week pause in fighting, in exchange for three times as many Palestinian security prisoners released from Israeli jails, the Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Peloni: This is the only reasonable solution to consider.  It remains a crazy proposal to allow avowed genocidal enemies into the country at a time of war in which the state is fighting against genocidal enemies.  Only Israel would be forced to accept such an insane proposal and only Israel would actually consider accepting such an insane proposal.  It is time to pursue policies which break with such poorly judged policies as led to the October 7 slaughter.

The union representing employees at York University in Toronto has circulated a training booklet that encourages teaching assistants and lecturers to criticize Israel, even in circumstances unrelated to the subject matter being taught; University calls for ‘expression of diverse perspectives in an inclusive learning environment’

The largest official workers’ union at York University in Toronto has distributed a training manual for teaching assistants and instructors that encourages them to criticize and condemn Israel in any context, even if it is unrelated to the subject being taught. The document covers various subjects such as medicine, art, feminism, society, politics, culture, geography, engineering and architecture, all in reference to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Notably, the organization’s logo, representing the largest workers’ union in Canada, suggests focusing lessons on teaching about the liberation of Palestine. Regardless of the course being taught, the document refers to Israel as a “murderous colonial project” and advocates for its condemnation. Read more…

In an exuberant display of support for re-establishing Jewish communities in the Gaza Strip, 5,000 activists filled three large halls to overflowing at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem on Sunday night.

South Africa accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza. The International Court of Justice, in The Hague, did not find in support of the accusation but its ruling on January 26 did call for Israel to, among other things, “prevent and punish” the incitement to genocide.
