Douglas MacGregor is a friend of Israel

T. Belman. A prominent Jewish journalist recently told me “Douglas Macgregor blames Israel for all of America’s problems”. This article says otherwise.

Antisemitism accusations against Dr Douglas MacGregor are deeply upsetting.

By Doron Almog, Gershon Hacohen and Efraim Inbar, JISS 19.8.20

It is upsetting to discover that former US colonel Dr. Douglas MacGregor has been accused of antisemitism. This, to prevent his appointment as US ambassador to Germany. Some American Jewish groups echoed these accusations, but they are misinformed and are being exploited for partisan political purposes. (See “Jewish groups take aim at Trump’s pick for ambassador to Germany,” The Jerusalem Post/JTA, August 8, 2020.)

Minister Levin: Supreme Court disqualification of judicial reform would be unacceptable’

Justice Minister warns Supreme Court against striking down the laws related to the judicial reform: It would be crossing every red line.

Yariv LevinHaim Twito

Justice Minister Yariv Levin said on Monday evening that if the Supreme Court strikes down the laws related to the judicial reform, “that would be crossing every red line and we will not accept it.”

Levin added, “There is no justification for a disqualification by the Supreme Court, the change we made is intended to prevent any claim of a constitutional crisis.” He also said that the other sections of the reform will be promoted when the Knesset returns from its recess.

By David Israel, JEWISH PRESS     March 20, 2023

There was a meeting Sunday night of the coalition parties’ heads with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and when it was over, MK Simcha Rothman’s and Justice Minister Yariv Levin’s two initial judicial reform bills had been gutted. At least for the current winter session.

The entire legislation banning the Supreme Court from annulling constitutional Basic Laws, which passed the first plenum vote, has been shelved. It will not be submitted.

China gets credit for improving Iran-Saudi Arabia ties – but US benefits

By Daniel DePetris  March 20, 2023

There was a time, only a few short years ago, when Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman thought Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was worse than Adolf Hitler. “I believe that the Iranian supreme leader makes Hitler look good,” Prince Mohammed told The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg in a 2018 interview. Hitler may have tried to conquer Europe, he said, but Iran is “trying to conquer the world.”

Eyeing Iran’s Nuclear Program, U.S. and Israeli Militaries Train Together in Nevada

FDD

Latest Developments

The United States and Israel are conducting the Red Flag-Nellis 23-2 combined aerial military exercise in Nevada, which runs March 12-24. The training comes as the top U.S. military officer in the Middle East, Gen. Michael “Erik” Kurilla, testified on Thursday to the Senate Armed Services Committee that “Tehran can now produce sufficient fissile material for a nuclear weapon in less than 14 days.” The military exercise at Nellis Air Force Base features American and Israeli F-35s and air refueling tankers — just the kind of aircraft that would play an essential role in airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear program.

Iraq and Iran signed a border security agreement on Sunday, a move Iraqi officials said aimed primarily at tightening the frontier with Iraq’s Kurdish region, where Tehran says armed Kurdish dissidents pose a threat to its security.<
>
The joint security agreement includes coordination in “protecting the common borders between the two countries and consolidating cooperation in several security fields”, a statement from the Iraqi prime minister’s office said.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary Ali Shamkhani signed the deal with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, in the presence of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, the prime minister office said.

“Under the signed security deal, Iraq pledges it would not allow armed groups to use its territory in the Iraqi Kurdish region to launch any border-crossing attacks on neighbour Iran,” said an Iraqi security official who attended the signing.

The frontier came into renewed focus last year when Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched missile and drone attacks against Iranian Kurdish groups based in northern Iraq, accusing them of fomenting protests that were sparked by the death of a Iranian Kurdish woman while she was being held in police custody.

How Biden subverts Israeli Democracy

By Caroline Glick,

The administration backs the Israeli left’s campaign to thwart the will of Israeli voters.

(JNS) The Movement for Quality Government (MQG) in Israel is the far-left organization at the epicenter of the Israeli left’s war against the Netanyahu government. MQG began its current campaign of delegitimization, subversion and demonization immediately after the Netanyahu government was sworn into office on Dec. 29. The next day, MQG petitioned the Supreme Court to prevent Shas leader Aryeh Deri from serving as a minister in the government.

Don’t poke the bear

By Ted Belman Mar 7, 2022

“If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.” Shylock.

If you provoke the bear and it gets angry, who should you blame? Yourself or the bear?

I recently commented;

“I chose to put the spotlight on the US rather than on Russia to counter the spin put on the Ukraine conflict by the west. In doing so we all got educated more fully on the facts and realities. That’s a good thing.
